  1. As long as we're giving What Ifs? I think that the winner of the previous years SB should host the game. I know - no dome, it may snow, the players uniforms get dirty, etc. But what a reward. If it were ever held here, we'd probably have to put the media up at the "Y" due to lack of area hotel rooms.
  2. Dobler addressed this in his book. The question? If you walked into an unfriendly bar, whose face would you most like to see? His answer was: Joe Ferguson

  5. Sure do remember Robb. He was our prototypical change of pace back behind Cribbs, way before Kenny Davis or Don Smith (#30 - remember him?) 3rd & 3? No problem! Give it to #40 - 1st down! I also remember him getting cheap shotted in a pre season game at Seattle. Took a swing pass and the $#$% Seahag corner dove directly at his right knee. I watched it buckle on live TV. Robb was never the same after that...tried to come back but kept getting hurt. I still hate Seattle for ruining the career of someone who IMO was destined for greatness.
  6. I guess my whole point here is that if things were reversed - MW drafted in 1980 1st round, riding the bench several years, under the tutelage of Jim Ringo the whole time; and Ritcher drafted 2003 1st round, immediately a starter, several different OL coaches - which would be called a bust?
  7. 238? His draft weight? He was considered very undersized duing the SB years, but not THAT light.
  8. So true...but the Eighties were a very different time. Ritcher was disappointing for quite a while, and took several years to enter the starting lineup. I doubt if any 1st round pick would be given that kind of leeway now.
  9. Hi all - First post... Jim Ritcher was an Outland Trophy winning center who took many years to develop to his Super Bowl RG position. I remember watching quite a few games when he came in to relieve (or in the case of a certain St. Louis game where Dobler was benched, start in place of) my namesake (n.b. I am not he, but Connie is still one of my all time favorite Bills...watching him pull on Joe Cribbs running plays with two bad knees told me all I needed to know about his cojones.) and so many times Fergy would be sacked.
