Having been at the game I believe the original post is 100% accurate. Marv Levy has much to carry the blame. He let Kelly run the No-huddle uncontrolled. Marv should have insisted that Kelly call running plays but Kelly wanted to be the star. Thurman was great.
Another example of great game planning; take your best receiver and use him as a decoy. Suppose the Colts did that with Marvin Harrison and the Bengals with C. Johnson?
When you look at it from that perspective it seems pretty ridiculous to me.
"The games are won and lost in the trenches". I heard that 50 years ago; somebody might wish to pass that on to TD. You can have all the glory-boys in the world but if you can't block or defend , forget about winning.
