  1. I agree with the other 2 replyers ... for the most part. If the pat-downs actually were an effective way to safely regulate the stadium, then I would agree with them. But as it stands, the only thing they do is make mothers happy (that the NFL is being "safe") and long-time fans angry.

  2. Austin said he was treated on the field by Bills trainer Bud Carpenter. As he was being carted off, Austin received well wishes from Bills coach Mike Mularkey, quarterback J.P. Losman and tight end Mark Campbell.

"Mularkey and Losman talked to me. I said, "Just win the game, that's all I want,' " he said.

    That is a GOOD FAN!

  3. The wind was defintely nasty today.  I guess my question would be how come Christie could make kicks in these conditions and not Lindell?

How come Peyton Manning breaks records, and is the best QB in the league for the past 5 years and yet doesnt have a SB ring ... sometimes things just dont fall your way. Just my 2 cents.

  4. Sorry - I'm in the "rule mood" today. Does the opponent gain any yards when the offense fails to gain a 1st down when going for it on 4th? I always thought the offense got the ball back right back at the line of scrimmage. Yet NFL.com said

    "1-10-BUF 46 (3:32) One-yard difference on change of possession. W.McGahee right tackle to 50 for 4 yards (S.Knight, K.Bell)."

    Can anyone explain?

  5. No, the CFL counts FGs as three.  They have a rule called the rouge, which is any kick that is downed in the endzone.  Rouges are worth a point.

Agh I see. Thanks for explaining - I love to learn more about different football rules in other leagues!

  6. 1) Going with a PASS play when pinned against your own goal line. WTF was that? Pound the ball with willis, and if he gets the 1st, great. If not, Moorman gets a little more room.

    2) Pulling JP.  Anyone who says this is a good move is thinking with their ass. Way to build the rookie's confidence.  Then put him BACK in? Holy sh--... awful.

Yes, but what if we went for the run and McGahee was dropped for a 2 yard loss like he was 2-3 other times this game?

Couldnt agree with you more with #2 ... dumb move to pull him out

  7. if MM hadn't put JP back in, you might be right.  i guess we'll hear what MM and JP say about it, but i really think this was a "you're having a bad day; sit down for a series and watch" moment and MM intended to return JP to the game regardless.

i don't think there's any controversy at all.

Controversy isnt the issue for me ... the mental games he is playing with JP is my problem.

  8. as badly as things were going for JP, having him sit for a series to see if holcomb could jump start the offense was, i thought, an appropriate thing for MM to do.

then, after holcomb's 3-and-out, putting JP back in there and telling him to finish the job sends the right message.  MM essentially tells JP that there's no controversy, but if you're stinking up the joint we're going to try to do something to get us going.  JP responded well and almost led the team to a TD.

bad game, obviously, but a good learning experience for JP and now we can set aside the "greatest defense ever" talk for a few weeks.

    TOTALLY DISAGREE!

Sends what message? Sends the message that we just put your backup in to see if he could do the job, but he couldnt, so now your thrown back in? Come on.

MM should have kept Losman in there.

  9. I bought into that philosophy too.

Never mind Moss, what about all the money the Vikings spent to beef up their defense?   :D

Mhm ... no matter what someone tells you, you will NEVER EVER EVER get better when you lose a huge star player who is the best in the league at his position.

Are the 49ers better since Owens left? Maybe in the locker room, but not on the field.

    What would you pick?

1 - Fights in the locker room but WINS on the field

    - or -

2 - Peace in the locker room and LOSS's on the field

I dont know about you, but I would take option #1

    just my opinion
