  1. The thing I like about that Moss check down throw is that it's 2020 Josh. There was someone running relatively free deep, and Josh took the safe throw and the sure chunk yardage. Pittsburgh game Josh would've gone for the TD. I think he's starting to settle in. That in turns, frees up the next play for the TD as we're working all portions of the field. Great series.

Anyone want to explain how the officials miss the jersey stretch out that far? It's not like there's anything else that ref should be looking at.

Yeah, they're watching the magical Mahomes play and are just so in awe by his mere presence, they don't see the holds...unless it's a failed third down conversion and its defensive.

  3. Whether your for it or against it, vax ID check was a total joke. You could have showed them a Sam's Club card or used a 20 year old putt putt pass and gotten thru that check point. They barely even glanced at my phone when I showed my "excelsior pass" - didn't even scan the QR code.

I watched the first game from the stands and the second from my couch, and it's seemed very clear to me that he hasn't had the same sharpness and accuracy that he displayed last season. I'd count roughly 8-10 plays so far where he just flat out missed a receiver that he wouldn't have missed last year. Yes, the line has failed him at times and yes, the playcalling has been puzzlingly bad at times. There have also been OTHER times, however, where Josh has a good playcall, has time, gets the open look he wants...and just misses his guy.

    100% agree.

Again, I think he'll be fine, but he's always been a self inflicted victim of hype. He came out of the tunnel in Buffalo to 'MVP' chants, he was given a $150+ million contract, he's getting national media attention and ads for the first time ever and the Bills are a super bowl favorite.

Bundle all of that up given his personality and he's back to thinking that he needs to win the game every play. He's over throwing, over thinking and putting way to much pressure on himself. You can almost see it in his eyes. He wants it too badly and despite it all, you can't hate him for that.

Give the kid a little time to re-ground himself, let his teammates show him "look Josh, you had a ***** day and we won 35-0, we got you, you don't have to do this alone, this is a team game" and let him realize that he doesn't need the constant self pressure and he'll be back to 2020, zero expectations Josh Allen. I'm confident he'll get there.

It's weird how people aren't allowed to point out that our quarterback has been playing subpar football -- worse than last year, no doubt -- without people defensively jumping down their throat.

Sure, the Bills still won today. Sure, his line isn't doing him any favors. Sure, he'll likely have better games this season. But it's okay to admit that Josh hasn't played very good football the last two weeks, and that if he doesn't improve -- REGARDLESS of what the o-line is doing -- it will be pretty worrisome.

It doesn't make someone less of a Bills fan, it doesn't make them unappreciative of a win, and it doesn't make them a pessimist to call a spade a spade: Through two weeks, regardless of what other circumstances or excuses you want to throw out there, Josh HAS looked closer to the 2019 version than the 2020 version. It's not just stat sheet stuff. He's missing throws that he was NOT missing last year. He's getting away from some of those great mechanics improvements he made last year at inopportune times.

Normalize being honest when the quarterback isn't playing well.

    Great post.

While I happen to be on the "he'll be fine" end of the argument, especially due to poor offensive line play and play calling, I'll 100% admit that he needs to be better to get us where we ultimately want to be. Any given Sunday, sure; but throughout 17 weeks, we WILL need 2020 Allen to steal us a game every now and then.

I just have issue with doom and gloomers posting the same stuff in 30 different threads: KC this, Mahomes that, "that's why you don't give a contract after 1 year", Dolphins are awful, worst 35-0 win ever, etc. Over and over and over and over.

Criticism is certainly warranted and I love critical discussions, but repeated doom and gloom and trolling makes me angry.

I actually posted last week that sky was not falling. I usually don't post anything "concerning" after wins. Yes, I would be more happy with that stat line because to beat KC Allen needs to be as good as Mahomes. Rest of it won't end up mattering as Mahomes will turn any decent defense into swiss.

Don't take my response personally. It wasn't really directed at you as OP, but more at some of the responses here and in other threads that were repeating the same doom over and over.

I do appreciate the research, etc of your post and it certainly warrants discussion, but I will respectfully disagree regarding Mahomes. By everyone's definition, if Josh was bad the last 4 games, including last season, and our defense is THAT much better as to force a shut out, and multiple sacks with heavy additions to the DL, we're actually closer to bearing the Chiefs now than we were then. Again, hope the offense works it all out and then all of the stars are in alignment for a Chiefs ass kicking but...

Same Josh. Better D = Better odds.

  7. If we had won the game 35-21 and Josh had gone 30-41, 325 yards and 3 TDs. This thread wouldn't exist.

We'd likely have a 'Fire Leslie Frasier' thread, maybe some more Tremaine hate. But we certainly wouldn't be panicking... because there was plenty of season left for the defense to get it right.

There is plenty of season left for Josh to get it right too. Same with Daboll and the offensive line. We'll figure it out.

I respect the criticism of this team by others, it certainly is warranted as Allen definitely hasn't been excellent and those criticisms are warranted to an extent...but for the love of God if you look at some of the post histories it's like some of you just want a participation trophy for writing "worst 35-0 victory ever, dolphins suck, we'll never beat the chiefs, ever."

Learn to enjoy a win. Discuss the faults sure, but stop with the 30 consecutive posts of doom.

If Allen had this stat line on 02/13/2022 and the Bills win the Super Bowl 35-0, would you still be complaining?

To everyone rolling their eyes at me... the Bills have a slow offense. Slow backfield and no speed at WR. McKenzie isn't fast; he's somewhat quick. What is your solution???

This need seems so obvious and makes such a huge difference.

I know that you're basing a lot of this off of what Beane said (i.e. that we need to get faster), but if we compare our "speed" to the Bucs offensive "speed", it's basically the exact same.

    Fournette - 4.51 | Breida - 4.38

    Jones - 4.65 | Moss/Singletary - 4.65/4.66

    Evans - 4.53 | G. Davis - 4.54

    Godwin - 4.42 | Sanders - 4.41

    Brown - 4.47 | Diggs - 4.46

Miller - 4.36 | Beasley - 4.49 - this one being the only real difference with Miller doing nothing in the Super Bowl anyways.

Speed-wise, Allen and Brady aren't in the same league, so we'll call the entire thing a push.

So based on the numbers alone - if the Bills have a slow offense, so do the Super Bowl champs who beat Chiefs.  I tend to disagree with the sentiment that we even have a slow offense - as many others have pointed out given the yards, touchdowns, etc. from last year.  Add in Breida and we have added quite a bit of speed where we didn't have any last year.

In addition, the addition of a speedy rookie isn't going to change the entire offense.  John Ross ran a 4.22 40 yard dash and has 700 yards in his entire career.  Even someone like Ruggs last year didn't own the league (yes, I know he was hurt).  Everyone wants a Tyreek Hill, I get it - but not every speed option is going to be one - he's a rare find - just like Kittle, just like Kelce - most guys drafted to fill those roles will fail with maybe 1 in 50 actually becoming a weapon.

At this point, Beane is banking on our draftees becoming nasty DL/DE prospects so that on passing downs we have 4 guys on the line that can all get after the QB with great efficiency.  For example, 3rd and long, rather than having Hughes, Oliver, Butler and Addison you now have Hughes, Rousseau, Basham and Addison - all of whom are noted pass rushers, with Rousseau and Basham able to rush from either the interior or the exterior.  Obviously add in Epenesa as I hope to see him progress as well.  This is just one way to combat speed - speed can't win if the QB can't get them the ball or if they don't have time to finish routes, etc.

Again - totally get where you're coming from, and obviously everyone would love to see some speedy additions (speed is entertaining after all) but I don't think that it's anything to get gravely concerned over at this point.  Just my 2 cents.
