Huh, I was commenting on the poster who said all Dawson Knox does is block. That was my correction, that Dawson Knox is not primarily a blocker in this offense.

What would you like me to get a grip on?

My apologies!  I think I was responding to the same post to which you were responding but somehow hit respond on you.  I may have been a bit brain dead after reading all of the "we don't know how or don't even use our other tight ends" posts and just didn't think to first go up to the post from the previous poster.  Thanks for being so considerate with your response to me!  😊 More than I deserved. 🤡

I was thinking more Zach Ertz.  I do know that McDermott and Beane witnessed firsthand what Olsen and Shockey could do to a defense in Newton's rookie year.  I'm bummed how the draft board fell but am glad we didn't go defense as it would've been really easy to stay there and take Mazi/Nolan Smith.

Ertz works for me. In addition to amazing hands, DK has mad ball skills. He adjusts and contorts and locates the ball really well. He also has great run after catch. He seems to have great instincts to run to daylight and heads there really quickly. And he breaks tackles as well.

I had given up on them getting a tall and athletic wide receiver/ and or TE. I had assumed they would go for an in-line type Schoonmaker. And I liked him in the 3rd or 4th. But I was surprised when they went for DK. And glad.

They are nowhere near the same type of player before even having to get into a talent discussion lol and even if they did just draft a better Dawson Knox…so what?  We were a mess in the red zone and on 3rd/4th and shorts all year last year.

I don’t think a 5’9” wr is anything close to what we needed.

We’ve got a bunch of them already!  I like the ones we have.

Mayer is a much better blocker but athletically a little more limited and Kincaid has better hands. Knox was strictly an in-line blocker in college and can break out for some big plays and get open in the endzone. Knox will be the Y, take advantage of mismatches and get his catches while Kincaid will be the F (as per Beane on McAfee). What is F? F is a move tight end. Here's an article about it for those of you unfamiliar.

I think they can teach him to be an effective blocker. But if he becomes our Kelsey, I’m ok with those limitations.

I'm glad he's telling opposing defenses our gameplan so far ahead of time, I'm sure there's no chance we'll deviate from this at all.

Oh, yes!  I’m sure knowing how we see  using our new rook is going to be a disaster.  I guess we would have only run one play in that formation the whole season and then done something different for every other play after that, right?  And now it’s totally blown. Don’t tell them about the All22 either.  😂

I saw that as well. I keep seeing DK referred to as more of a "big slot". Like I said, I'm interested in seeing how the offense evolves. I'm not overly excited until I can see what they have in mind....but not grabbing the torches and pitchfork either.

He gets excellent separation at the top of his routes. He is nearly 6’4”. He catches everything. He ran a huge number of his snaps from the slot. Who is covering him?  A nickel corner? Pitch and catch to move the sticks. Need I say more?

What I meant by that was more of Dorsey's usage of 2 TE sets. Understand that our #2 TE last year was Morris and that may have dictated the rational for less of those sets.  I'm very interested to see what Dorsey has in mind. Based on last year as it's all we have to go by I am skeptical....however open minded to see how the offense evolves as opposed to slamming Dorsey or the pick at this time.

As BB mentioned, they won’t be using him in 12 personal sets. He said, think of it like 11 and 1/2.

For the millionth time. Dawson Knox runs as many routes as any TE in the league not named Kelce.

We keep grabbing receiving RB and TE’s and refuse to throw them the ball. They’re running routes.

Get a grip. The guy is a big tall slot weapon with the best hands in the draft.  He’s a slot guy with the opposite body type of Beasley. He will contribute immediately.

Of course Beasley's skills were deteriorating in 2021.  We could all see that.  Yet his 82 catches, many for first downs and at critical times in a game, were far more productive & consistent then we've gotten from the slot this season.

Beasley's greatest strength is his ability to read zone defenses prior to the snap.  Here his relationship with Allen is crucial.  His presence on the field immediately increases our chances of converting 3rd and short and extending drives. We're at the point in the season where extending only one or two drives will be the difference between winning and losing a game.

IMO those that are hostile to Beasley's signing here are just pissed off that he took an unpopular stand on covid vaccination. How do I come to this conclusion?  Because there is no logical football based argument against signing Beasley today.

I think it was more injury than that his overall skill had diminished.  He's a tough as nails dude who played pretty well despite nagging painful injuries.  He wasn't as as good as the previous years because he was playing hurt.  Then he didn't want to take a pay cut.

I was annoyed that he couldn't just keep himself off of social media and play football, and that for some reason he couldn't tell the difference between Beeeeze! And Boooo!  But I was not hostile towards him for it.

I will certainly welcome him back but honestly not sure what he has left in the tank.

I don't like that he quit on his team earlier this year. The excuse "he didn't know the offense" falls flat with me. He's a seasoned vet. LEARN THE OFFENSE! Did you see what that bum Mayfield did after a practice with his new team?

But if he has something left, let's give him a shot. I hope do hope he isn't as controversial with his social media posts---the same way I feel about every player.

I'm OK with seeing what he has left as long as I don't have to see another tweet from him where he complains that Bills fans hate him because he can't tell the difference between Beeeeeeeeeeeeeze!!! and Booooooooooooooo!.

Sorry, you are wrong. The argument has been made clear by 99% of those in this discussion. You choose to continue to insist you are right. Player A is blocked/ thrown/engaged in some way by player B into player B’s punter. No penalty. It’s really a simple back up of my argument.

I'm sorry, but I think YORE both wrong.  😄  I think that it's the defender's own momentum that causes him to end up where he is.  He was not redirected in any way.  I also do not see any holding on Johnson's part or that he threw him down.  Johnson hits him and immediately disengages with him and it is Johnson's abrupt disengagement to his right that causes the Patriot player to rotate in the direction of Johnson and fall forward to the ground when the resistance provided by Johnson is abruptly removed  He is neither blocked into, nor pulled down into Martin.

At the same time, I think it's a close call.  You could argue that it was Johnson's sudden disengagement that led to the rusher's loss of control of his momentum.  I agree with NewSaint.  It could have gone either way and so not a bad call in the moment.

Mine too, I think? October 17, 1966. 17-17 tie with San Diego. That's the game where kicker Booth Lusteg (a UConn product) missed three field goals, including a 23 yarder to win the game, with six seconds left, after the Bills came back from a 17-0 deficit.

I believe this game was Nov 17th, 1968. It was our 1-12-1 season of pure misery. The weather was miserable and the Chargers win 21-6. The get Hadl dirty chant came in the mid 4th quarter when everyone except him was covered in mud. It took about 3-4 plays for it to happen once the chant started.

BTW, John threw 3 ints in that game, but between Dan Darragh and Ed Rutkowski, we managed only 151 yards of total offense. The Chargers scored all of their 21  points in the first half. The second half was awful. Biggest cheer of the game was when they got Hadl dirty. 🥹

I was there for that game with my brother and father. We joined in that chant heartily and cheered when it finally happened. The Bills were so bad then that those sorts of moments are the ones I remember most from those days.

    RIP John Hadl.

RIP to one of the AFL greats. 😞

It looked better at the beginning of the game, when the green paint was still fresh. 🤣

Thanks man. We will come probably no sooner than 4 hours before the game since we will stop in Buffalo before to see something so I guess Hammer's lot will be full by then. But we'll try to park somewhere and walk there.

Haha I can see how big it is. But this won't be an issue. The day we fly in we'll rent a car and get out of NY, probably to Scranton, PA, where I booked a room. From there it is just 4,5 hours to Buffalo, so plenty of time to spend almost whole day in Watkins Glen. Same thing on the way back, where we are just looking for a place to stop. So any tips are appreciated.

I really enjoy the Winery Tour near Niagara on the Lake in Canada. Great wine tasting and food. But be sure to book the guided tour with transport provided. Last time I went I was drunk off my butt by 1 pm. 😎

For some reason I can't put my finger on it, but I'm salty at being spurned by Brett Kern. It's like it's a personal insult. I know it's just business so I know I should man-up and accept it. But I'm not there yet.

    Anyone else feel the same?

I feel ya!  After all, he is a local boy who should dream about playing for his home town team who is a legit Super Bowl favorite, right?

Sounds like Martin should be good though. And he’s a few years younger.

We already know that Araiza admitted they had sex. That part is not a fabrication. The details and particulars are a case of he said -she said and we will probably never really know.

Also, was she not too young at the time to legally consent, not even considering her ability to consent based on her level of intoxication. The age of consent in Cali is 18. She was 17 at the time. This alone is an admission of statutory rape.  That’s reason enough for me to send him on his way.
