  1. That might be relevant if he was named our DC, but since he wasn't, it isn't.

As a head coach, I'd like him to be an effective manager of both players and staff.  I'd like him to have a consistent vision.  I'd like that vision to mesh with the personnel department (drafting a receiving TE to play for a "smash-mouth" team is an example of what I don't want to see).  I'd like him to hire an OC & DC that effectively use the talent we have - taking advantage of those players' strengths while covering their weaknesses.

His record as a HC or DC for other teams (most of whom had nowhere the talent that I believe Bflo does) doesn't matter.  I used to think it did, but Williams and Mularkey have convinced me otherwise...

Thank you for a rational take on the situation. Who we end up with as DC and OC (and the draft) will either make or break him. Meanwhile, I will reserve judgment on Jauron. How many of you are willing to do the same? And, please, spare us from any more ageist comments about Ralph and Marv. It was marginely humorous initially, but wears thin and says more about you than about these two highly successful and sharp men.

  2. With a young QB, mistakes are inevitable. He will learn. What troubles me the most also is his inacuracy as a passer. Look at the best ones - they can thread the needle. To date, JP has demonstrated an inability to do that. Perhaps, he can improve, but accuracy seems like an innate ability (like the arm strength he has), something that cannot be taught. I hope I'm wrong .... B-)

  3. Wow.

I thought we would all realize by now how crappy we still play on offense with that damned line we're cursed with.  The QB doesn't matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    :w00t:

The 3 starting QB's we had couldn't do crap.  So the problems lie elsewhere.  JP would need an All-Pro line to play well so we might as well use the guy who doesn't need that to win a game for us.

TD exposed himself as a fool for releasing DB AND not fixing the line.

Close. TD was a fool for SIGNING Bledsoe and then not building an offensive line to support the player that he is (an accurate passer who needs time and protection.) What good are the good receivers that he drafted, if the QB has no time to find them or allow them to get deep?

  4. Did ya ever think that just maybe the coaches aren't just listening to the players ..... that maybe ....... just MAYBE ...... they have seen something in JP that leads them to believe JP just sucks??????????? :w00t:

That's certainly crossed my mind. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but he has clearly shown that he is not yet ready for prime time. Is he a (strong) rag arm? Looks that way so far! (I hope I'm wrong.)

  5. The question becomes why didn't we upgrade our o-line as we should have a long time ago.

A very good point. Why give up a number one draft pick for a stationary but incredibly accurate QB and then not put together an offensive line that can protect him?

Does anyone else think we would be 4-1 and atop the divison right now if we had hung unto Drew one more year (even with our OL with its bargain basement talent) while JP manages to figure out the difference between college level and NFL football (if he ever does)?

  6. Drew is a talented, knowledgeable QB who (unlike all of us, of course) also has some now well-known limitations that have been dicussed ad nauseum. He will never consitently light em up unless he has a very good, AND well-coached offensive line, a combination that he never had here and, given TD's draft priorities, he might never have had in Buffalo. So, he was a bad fit here. He may be a better fit at Dallas, but his time is running out if he is to ever be a winner. Give him credit for last week and 40,000 yards - neither is the work of a journeyman QB. Wish him well (unless they play the Bills) and let's move on!! The last I checked, we have a new QB.
  7. Once again this year, the Bills kept an undrafted free agent on the final roster (Jim Leonhard).  All things being equal, this is a great move.  Agents notice such things.  I am sure the agents final bonus is predicated on the player actually making some money.  If the Bills have a rep for actually giving undrafted players a legitimate chance at the roster, we have a better chance at getting the better undrafted players.  We came up with some real finds last year --- Peters, Greer, Baker.  Hopefully, this is a trend that pays off in the long run.

    George Wilson?

  8. I just can't figure this one out.

    Anyone?

Ritzmann and/or Gause will be on the PS and available if one of them goes down. Bannan can play DE. I think they wanted to keep the extra WR until Roscoe is back. Then one WR will go and whichever DE is on the practice squad will join the 53.

  9. :P As much as I'd like to disagree, the evidence isn't there. I hate to kiss off the season while our pro-bowl veterans get older and JP makes mistake after mistake. Is Kelly the longterm answer? No, but JP does not appear to be ready to take us anywhere this year. I'm still hoping, but it's getting more and more difficult.
  10. He's doing OK tonight. Is he a future HOFer? No. Is he good enough to win with a good supporting cast, yes! With the salary cap, no one can have an all-star at every position - so they pick and choose. TD thinks his priorities are the correct ones - time will tell!

  11. He better not become a liability like last year where Moorman had to swallow his pride and attempt 20 yard punts again.  Yes, he had to do that again tonite.

I doubt that it was his choice - it was the coaches. I don't get it, after he hit a 54 yarder last week and narrowly missed a sceond one. Why?

  12. Ok, this bothers me everytime i see your avatar.  Who the hell is that?  Bin Ladens right hand man or Ron Jeremy on heroin?

I got it off the Net because I thought it was just one ugly guy. But, after watching the National Geographic special on 9/11 the other night, I was surprised to see the same picture and (since it was on so briefly) I'm not sure, but I think it was the mastermind of the 9/11 bombing or someone about as evil. Does anyone know for sure who it is? Either way, he has to go now that I understand the association. I'm shopping for a better one - be patient!

  13. Come on people, it's not up to JP to win games for us!  The other 10 guys on O have to do that.  It sure doesn't help when we're fumbling in the red zone again by our starters.

I blame the line.  They've played so poorly.  How do they allow a 20 yard sack when we're at the 3 getting ready for the TD???  :D

    419945[/snapback]

I didn't see it, but a 20 yard sack sounds like "happy feet." An experienced QB would have eaten 7 or 8. Does anyone who saw it have a perspective on it? Regardless, I hope it is a learning experince for JP. Who cares about the score!
