No major auto manufacturer is, today, ready to produce a fully automated car (level 5).  So 3-5 or even 10 years horizon for these things to be widely used is simply not going to happen.

If the business model suggested above (only autonomous ride "app" companies would be buying these cars) is accurate, I don't see how any company could afford to purchase such massive numbers of these cars (at what likely will be far more expensive than current models) to make this scenario materialize.  And unless such numbers are purchased, car companies will stop all production, obviously.

Barring that unlikely scenario, there would have to be a significant number of individuals who would have to but these cars to make it profitable for the makers.  Why would anyone want one of these cars? Why pay far more for an autonomous Hyundai, for example, when you can own one for far less (or a late model used one for far less) and drive it wherever you want, when you want?  Why pay so much money for a car that you go into and you just sit in the back as it putters down the highway at 55 MPH or crawls its way through the suburbs at 30?  Unless the federal government outlaws private car ownership (or many large states ban it), I don't see how this overtakes the current way people in this country ride in a car.

You want a car to pick you up?  There are, in most major cities, innumerable car service companies waiting for your business right now.  In smaller cities, Uber and Lyft are likely there.

Still hanging on to your CDs and cassettes too?

Americans love their cars and driving them.   Even if by tomorrow, fully tested and safe level 5 autonomous cars were available for hire everywhere, who with a car, would use them?  Millions of cars are sold every year and the vast majority of them will last more than 10 years.  Are people going to give up their cars to pay for every ride they take every day?  No they are not.  And for people who live in large urban areas where owning and driving a car is impractical, there are already many options for them (taxi, Uber with regular car/driver, car service for hire, subway, bus....).

You're stuck in yesterday and today's thinking, not tomorrow's. Owning and driving a car is impractical in every way compared to autonomous vehicle transportation, except that "people just want to drive themselves." And those people will be priced out by the cost of their insurance eventually.

Self driving cars are on the way. Fortunately (maybe) the security issues surrounding them are HUGE and so far not close to being resolved. If this is really the future (I'm not all that thrilled with it, but I get it) then an insane amount of money is going to be needed to insure they cannot be hacked. If that can be accomplished (probably can't be completely eliminated---but to a degree that is livable for our collective conscience) then think of the progress that will be made for cyber security in general.

    One can dream.

Once they are fully automated, you won't own a car. All your trips will just be an Uber. It can't happen soon enough.

The sacks will come, it's just a matter of time.

Interior lineman never get great sack numbers. The pressures are awesome though. He's getting it done!

I won't dispute the facts. He may be winning these pass rush opportunities but he has not translated them into impact plays. We have all watched the games and I can think of only a handful of impact plays.

What I am most impressed with though, is how he has held up in the rush defense. I was worried more about getting gashed up the middle than a lack of interior pass rush. He, Star, and Phillips have really done well at the point of attack.

If he is truly winning at this rate, then the impact plays should come. Hopefully he stays fresh and doesn't hit the rookie wall.

The interior of the Bills' D-line is wrecking QBs. Consistently, opposing QBs are getting pressure up the middle, which is exactly where it makes the biggest problem for a QB. Oliver is not getting sacks but he's making QBs move from the pocket and not feel comfortable there.

New Orleans Saints: Setting the price for an A.J. Green trade

With all that coming into consideration, I would hope that the New Orleans Saints would set their price at a third-round and seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

    Eagles +300

Sounds right. I wouldn't think they send him to an AFC team.

Josh Allen pops up on injury report with hand injury

There was no indication Josh Allen was dealing with any kind of injury.

But when the official report came out late Wednesday, Josh Allen’s name was on there.

Via the Buffalo News, the Bills quarterback was listed as full participant, but with a hand injury designation.

His left hand was apparently hurt after he threw an interception last week against the Titans, but little mention was made if it.

He was shaking it and massaging it for the entire game after that. I wouldn't sweat it. My 50000 foot view is be may have bruised a bone. Hurts a lot but it's his non-throwing hand and wouldn't affect his game.

This is a big deal for the Bills.  The Rams will be forced to make him the highest paid cornerback.   Tre will expect similar.

Beane is smart about the cap. They will make a good deal or trade him. I don't think the Bills are any longer a team that invests beyond a certain point in a player unless he is a franchise player, and I REALLY LIKE Tre but I don't see any CB being a franchise player.

They already said Rosen is starting.  Regardless, Fitz hasn't really shown much magic since W1-W2 last season.

He almost won that game last week. Granted against a terrible Redskins team.

If Drake doesn't drop the WR screen, who knows if they convert (looked unlikely and an awful play call).

You can have him, I can't stand the love for Mahomes and I'm not impressed with a guy that consistently throws off his back foot and just chucks a ball in the air and has great play makers adjusting to the ball and making circus catches. I'll take the slow and steady growth of a QB that has sustainability in the league.

Look, I love Josh because he's ours but let's not pretend he doesn't make too many bad throws at this stage of his development. He does. He's getting better at not playing hero ball and throwing the ball away (TN game was his best yet for this) but he's got a ways to go to show he will make consistent good decisions.

Mahomes has 1 INT so far this season to 14 TDs. He has no O-line and no RB.

    He's elite.

Long term, I would love for Josh to exceed Mahomes but right now, Josh's best game as a pro is Mahomes's 2019 average.

  9. The satellite crashing relatively undamaged within walking distance sure feels like a shark jump risk. And Eugene is going to MacGuyver some 1985 USSR tech into a fusion powered robot? I'll give them some rope but not much. The writers would be smart to stash that satellite in the Jersey Pine Barrens with the guy from the Sopranos.

This is accurate. I watched this game at the sport book in Vegas and Mahomes did not look good at all. He had an early 56 yard play that should have come back as it was a pick play. He consistently throws off his back foot and his skill players make plays on a poorly thrown ball. It’s annoying because Mahomes fan boys will tell you foot work doesn’t matter, but if Allen were to throw off his back foot they’d scream and cry about it.

Mahomes is a good QB but that’s where it ends. People need to start watching his games and not the highlights of the great plays his skill players make. He consistently under throws his WR and they make adjustments and make the play.

Last year KC was the 2nd best team in their division and this year they are the best of a mediocre division.

If the Bills start running the ball more and take that pressure off Allen they will be a dominant team in the AFC.

what’s worse is this is a Bills message board and yet there’s so much damn talk about the freaking Chefs, makes me sick.

Every GM would take Mahomes over Allen right now and probably over every QB. Every one.

And I love Allen. But this is stupid. Mahomes is averaging Allen's best game.

Honest question: if Mayfield or Mahomes are the Bills qb, what’s our record? Any different? And you can never know but I bet we beat NE with Mahomes.

I take JA any day over Baker.

Mahomes doesn't lose to NE with the Bills D behind him.

The NFL is figuring out Mahomes. He is nothing special.

In 20 minutes time of possession yesterday, he threw for 370 yards and 3 TDs (both just above his season average).

Where he was bad yesterday was the INT. First one of the season. Guess they figured him out finally!

    Nothing special indeed.

I find it odd that you seem to measure posters' worth based on their level of activity on the board, as if that has some bearing on the validity of their perspectives. Someone could be the world's #1 football expert, just coming to this board for the first time, and you'd still belittle him and his post count just because you've been on this particular forum longer? Seems ignorant.

    Don't worry about me.

His 70,000 posts have to count in his life for some kind of self-worth.
