  1. It's been alleged knock out was just missed time(shaken up) and cartoff was did not return....

Yes and no. Only saints but both porter and roby also were taken off in ambulances.

    Injured Players

Jauron provided little update on the status of safety Bryan Scott (ankle) and starting left tackle Demetrius Bell (groin), who also were hurt against the Saints.

Jauron said Scott was having tests on Monday. Bell's status will be monitored once the team returns to practice Wednesday.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills' defensive backfield is suddenly depleted by injuries following a 27-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Starting cornerback Leodis McKelvin did not return after aggravating an ankle injury in the first half. Also unable to finish were starting safeties Donte Whitner, who hurt his thumb, and Bryan Scott, who also hurt his ankle in the second half. Starting left tackle Demetrius Bell left the game after sustaining a groin injury.

  2. I live in CA which is a community property state so I guess NY is not. That makes a difference. But why would he not leave it to his wife. That's just dumb estate planning. Is he afraid that because she gets a step up in basis she can sell it for zero or little cap gains tax?

The big hangup on that front is his wife and kids don't want to run the team, but don't want to be taxed twice from the sale of the team as well as the estate tax. So, really Ralph is hanging on to keep the Bills quite literally. Maybe she has a change of mind, but if that's been the case for the last 10 - 15 years I doubt she's change her mind.

  3. Seems like someone is off, though I think it may just be Hamilton not writing the CB rotation accurately...

    BuffaloBills.com report

The starting cornerbacks were rotated. Leodis McKelvin was entrenched as the starting right cornerback, but Aaron Williams and Stephon Gilmore rotated in and out on the left side with the first unit during team work.

Gilmore also saw a lot of time at right cornerback with the second unit opposite Justin Rogers.

  4. Odd. If you read the article, Powell specifically mentions how he was coached in directional punting at FSU:

Powell is comfortable booting directional punts, toward the sideline, a tactic that is given a high priority by Bills special teams coach Bruce DeHaven.

"We did a lot of directional stuff," Powell said. "That really helped me out. That's what the NFL is all about — directional punting. Coach [Eddie] Gran, my coach at Florida State, told me if you want to make it you've got to do this. He put that into me in college and made me better, and I feel that put me one step ahead because I've been doing it."

I think Moorman's days are numbered.

And the Aussie and Rugby punts are very helpful too for a team directionally speaking. Lots of tools and size (a Nix favorite) for this man.

  5. I can't even watch most of that...absolutely heart wrenching.

Thanks to twitter I didn't bother to watch ESPN at all yesterday, since so many complained that once they finally 'found' someone to break the news from their end, they had her on loop. Shameful.

  6. I try to avoid saying film on a player, unless it's someone on my actual team. Unless you have the all-22 on a guy, film is just highlights. There are some youtube guys that do a great job of putting almost every snap from a guy on a video, but there's only 2 or 3 of those guys and a ton of the others.

Yes..especially if they use the drawsomething app

Nowadays, the program the NFL teams use (either DVSport or another one I can't remember) allow you to put your cut ups of the playbook onto a central server the players have access to. Then from there they can read their playbook in PDF with editable notes, then look on their DVSport App and see it visually. It's great because all of them use the same system, so you can show him footage of another player doing a play the way you want your player to do it.

  7. Chan came on and said the following:

-Gilmore was a good pick not necessarily because they don't like the corners they had, but his potential to be better than them in the future.

-Glenn to them is a LT and only needs to lose a few pounds to be effective in NFL. Glenn told them when they talked to him that he feels like he could play well "around 330"

-He liked TJ Graham because he was a guy that could fly down the field and add more speed to their draft. Even though he is an unfinished product they feel they can develop him while he is producing for the team

-Mentioned last year was tough because of the injuries and hopefully they won't need their 4th LT or 4th center in the season

-Talked about Stevie's surgery and how "it's only minor surgery when it's not your kid"

The rest was covered by the OP

  8. Glenn Article

Bills offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris couldn’t resist. Not long after Buffalo made offensive tackle Cordy Glenn the 41st pick in the draft in round two last weekend, the veteran assistant popped his head into the Bills draft room. Standing there with a big grin on his face he said to those in the room, “I just want to congratulate everyone on the last pick. Excellent selection.”

“It’s always good to get a good player and all the players we selected were good, but we targeted Cordy and I watched a lot of tape on him and we reviewed him and went back and analyzed him again and then went and analyzed him some more,” said D’Alessandris. “To see us get that kind of caliber player at that time I was excited because I know he’s going to make our offensive line better.”

Literally applauding the pick D’Alessandris was behaving much like he does on the field offering enthusiasm and encouragement to his players in practice with a healthy dose of hard coaching to match. Buffalo’s line coach liked the pick not just for the level of talent Glenn will provide to the team’s offensive front, but for the person he had come to know through the pre-draft process.

  9. My read was Hill or Quick. I know he mentioned Hill as one guy but was very non-committal. I think he MAY have intentionally said Hill when he would have drafted Quick. But he clearly said a WR was his highest rated player after Glenn. It's possible he wasn't being truthful, too, he does lie, btw. He's not always as straight forward as he is given credit for. I don't blame him for it at all. In fact, the morning of the day #2 draft, before it started, he said flat out on the radio that Jonathan Martin was the best player available on Saturday. And then when he had his choice of Glenn or Martin he took Glenn.

Don't forget that Randle went 64 to Giants as well, who said they had a 1st round grade on him. I can see Buddy seeing him in a similar fashion, given his production despite the QBs he had.

  10. The best thing about this guy is he listened to his coaches in every aspect - from what they wanted him to weigh to how they wanted him to block. So Joe D and our strength coaches will find a weight that keeps him mobile, agile and hostile!

If he's a chubby Marcus McNeil who can lose weight and not have neck/back injuries, we got ourselves a steal at 41.

  11. Dude, look at my sig: I come after everybody. If you take it personally, that's your problem. I've stated my objective multiple times: I don't want to see 1000 "we could have traded up/down" threads next week, based on nothing but BS.

So, this year, I decided to be proactive, and pre-bash people who refuse to base their posts on reason, data, and confirmed information. Some "league source" is probably an agent, who is doing his job spinning things to get deals for his players. I have no problem with him. I do have a problem with the people that listen to him and start telling us our team sucks because we didn't buy in to his intentional BS.

Again, I ask: how many times did Mario Williams leave Buffalo? Who were the "sources" on that "story"?

And some of those WGR guys were in on that, "I heard from sources he left too", so even the locals cannot be trusted.

  12. Ok, but keep in mind the following before casting judgment on Sheppard:

    A. He was a rookie asked to play perhaps the most cerebral position in the NFL other than QB.

    B. George Edwards was the coordinator of the cluster!@#$ that was the 2011 Buffalo Bills defense.

    C. For most of the season, the defensive line in front of him consisted of another rookie, Dareus, plus a bunch of scrubs.

Don't forget that prior to training camp (which he had next to no reps in as well as no mini camp) he was told prior to season he'd be ILB in 3-4 and weighed almost 260. By end of season Wannstedt had him get down to around 240s and will probably report to camp around 238. He'll be a lot faster and instinctual with this time with the team and in a defense that isn't very complicated and very DL friendly, which in turn makes it look VERY LB friendly. If they take Kuechly, as good as he would look, remember the lines other LBs (Fletcher in particular) played behind before the usual "this guy is better than x" convos start...

  13. On North Alabama CB Janoris Jenkins and if they'd consider him:

Buddy Nix: You know I just would not get into that. But if you mean whether we'll take him or not, ability-wise obviously you would. This is a political answer I'm fixing to give you, but otherwise you wouldn't. You get enough trouble without getting one that you know is a problem.

  14. Here’s the full pre-draft visit list for the Bills including today’s visitors, LB Luke Kuechly and QB Brock Osweiler.

WR Justin Blackmon – Oklahoma State

    OL James Brown – Troy

    DE Vinny Curry – Marshall

    DE Olivier Vernon – Miami

    CB Morris Claiborne – LSU

QB Kirk Cousins – Michigan St.

    OL Cordy Glenn – Georgia

OLB/DE Bruce Irvin – West Virginia

    LB Dont’a Hightower – Alabama

    OT Jonathan Martin – Stanford

    S De’Quan Menzie – Alabama

    DE/OLB Whitney Mercilus – Illinois

WR Brian Quick – Appalachian St.

    OT Matt Kalil – USC

    CB Dre’ Kirkpatrick – Alabama

    LB Tank Carder – TCU

OT Mike Adams – Ohio State

    DE Chandler Jones – Syracuse

    RB Trent Richardson – Alabama

    QB Russell Wilson – Wisconsin

    S Mark Barron – Alabama

DE/OLB Shea McClellin – Boise St.

CB Josh Robinson – Central Florida

DT Fletcher Cox – Mississippi St.

CB Stephon Gilmore – South Carolina

QB Ryan Tannehill – Texas A&M

DE/OLB Melvin Ingram – South Carolina

    CB Jamell Fleming – Oklahoma

LB Luke Kuechly – Boston College

QB Brock Osweiler – Arizona State

About half of the 30 prospects that visited (16) have been widely projected as first round picks. The ones most frequently appearing in the top 10 in mock drafts have been Cox, Ingram, Richardson, Kalil, Blackmon and Claiborne.

What this visit list shows is how the Bills really do consider every single one of their possible options as it pertains to their pick on the board.

  15. Buddy is playing moneyball and rightfully so. We're a small market team and at this point we need to pay for production, not potential. I guess you can say we're playing "BuddyBall". Hey. I think that I like that term!

Well done Tipster, now copyright it before someone does!

Also, Bill - if it were the Bills of old, reaching for a LT who eventually becomes a mediocre player just to say "we got one" would occur. Like others have said, if Buddy's down with a player, I see him doing an 8 second pick as he typically does.

If they take a guy in round 2 or 3 and gives the Bills the quality protection a McNeil did for SD, I will have no complaints. Heck, a year in strength and conditioning and a true off-season would be great for Hairston too!
