Who says they "love and bleed" for the school??? Problem is they can't leave a place even if they hate it without sitting out a year, unlike a coach...who has an actual contract guaranteed but can leave and go another institution whenever the fug he wants. Quitiing on the school he should "love and bleed for" Ridiculous!
And please don't talk about insurance and people being set for life and not losing anything, cause obviuosly you have not examined the situation closely.. Going from a top five pick with close to $25 million guaranteed to a contract with with $4.5 guaranteed. So he pissed away close to $20MILIION by playing in that bowl game. Yes $20MMMMMMM. For an exhibition game that meant nothing to anyone except everyone collecting additional money....which is every one except the actual athletes themselves.
You are in the playoff..play , I get it. If not, your choice.

But guys like you and me did not bring a penny into that university...they have a special talent that these universities want, so they can bring in MILLIONS...so they offer them something for it ala scholarships. You can argue then if the player does not think that is enough compensation, they should "take their talents" elsewhere.
Problem is they cant for 3 years due to the nice cozy relationship between the NFL and NCAA..
appreciate that.

i get where football etc pays for other scholarships...yet tuition keeps increasing. should not have to mortgage your future for an education if you cannot get a scholarship.

wife and i just paid off student loans. we are in our 50's. the whining...YES...whining that a full ride scholarship is not the same as being paid in nonsense. the free room and board, free medical care.etc plus the free education...is sufficient. the entire problem and it pains me to agree with nick saban is the playoff system. some bowls that are now called unimportant/insignificant has led to this. i read somewhere that 2% of ncaa football players make the nfl. the non-important games is/will be the highlight of 98% of the other teammates. i get that the 2% are looking out for their livelihood, i don't know, i don't like it. i retired us army infantry. am disabled. perhaps i should have told them i don't feel like going back to iraq or afganistan for a second tour. just saying

fournette and mccaffery have decided not to play in bowl games. i may be wrong,but when you have a full ride scholarship, isn't there a contract? is this a precedent for let's say, pensacola state, with a 3-6 record, and a guy who has nfl potential, who has a draft number, decides to shut it down? sorry for the run on sentence.

it is very depressing and even a bit stressful that the game vs the brownies has become a turning point. how did it get so bad? i am wearing my bill's hat...the patriot bride calls it the hat of shame. she wants to make a wager on the game. i am seriously thinking of saying no. is anyone else as concerned about this as i am?

lord help me...the patriot bride asked this...if the bills had a better coaching staff...where do you rank the bills talent wise? i say middle of the pack.
