I just don't agree with this.
You can give him a few more weapons and it won't fix the major issues he has.
Can't read a defense, can't throw to the middle of the field, not accurate, doesn't stay in pocket, thinks run first...
He's bad. He isn't even average. The league told us all we needed to know about TT when nobody gave him an offer that was worth a crap last offseason but us.
Sad!
He's not a great quarterback but there are plenty worse
-
Taylor would need the 2000 Rams offense and the 2000 Ravens defense for this team to have a chance at a Super Bowl with Taylor's throwing abilities.
And we'd need a young Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers with the group of receivers we have
-
So we'll keep losing with a QB who we know is a dead man walking, instead of seeing what we have in a kid who was handpicked by the current regime. I'm sorry, but I just don't see the logic in that. I don't think they should throw Peterman into the fire; but they should start getting him ready so they can assess what they have in him now, instead of trying to do so in bull **** practices and preaseason games next year.
The kid couldn't possibly be ready. They know his skill set already. He likely develops into a very solid #2 QB. As far as Taylor, he isn't the long term guy buy gives us our best shot. As I said before, if we had Watkins, Woods and Harvin, we win this one going away
-
Yeah, its all well and good to say that the defense kept us in the game. That completely ignores the fact that without a viable receiving threat or running game, our QB didn't turn over the ball. This is also something that kept us in the game.
Taylor isn't a long term solution, but he's our guy at least for this year. Peterman is a project. You don't put him in unless Taylor gets hurt.

8-8?
That's with the Ryan "Let 'em score" defense. If this defense keeps playing like this, I'd expect much better in that scenario
-
Put Watkins, Woods, and Percy Harvin on the field like we did in 2015 and I wonder how it goes.....
-
We found out nothing today. We'll know a lot more how good this team might be next week.
I'll tell you right now. They aren't very good. But they are a lot more organized than they've been and that's why they won today. The arrow is pointing up.

Sammy is a rare talent...we just gave up on a young rare player for a future 2nd round pick and marginal DB. Not liking it. We had nothing to lose letting Sammy play this year, there was no reason to do this trade IMO.
And the type of injury he had is one that is hard to recover from and takes time because there isn't much you can do. And his lingered because they pressed to early last year between him and the staff. But once a full recovery is done, its almost always stronger than it was before it was injured. So, this really seemed like an injury he's fully past now, and a healthy Sammy is a top 10 WR in the NFL, and the potential to be ELITE. With him being so young, just don't think we got back enough value to make this move.
I mean, most of you people want to cut a recent 2nd rounder before he has ever played a single snap in the NFL in Ragland, yet now you champion a 2nd rounder next year like its the holy grail. Sammy is special, and the odds of a 2nd round pick producing a player of his talent level are low. When you are 17 years from your last playoff appearance, you should gamble on talent, not an unknown draft pick IMO. And to me Sammy was a low risk gamble now that his foot injury was gone and declined his option so were not tied to him long term if it did have injury issues again.
Is he as rare as Herschel Walker?

I'm not trying to argue on this matter but when I hear drop off it baffles me since Sammy Watkins last year had 28 catches, 430 yards and 2 TD, Matthews had 73 catches, 804 yards and 3 TD, the year before is quite similar also. I think fans are basing Sammy Watkins production on what he's supposed to be rather than what he is right now. I can honestly say with Darby I was wondering how this regime viewed him since he'd be in a different scheme fit and I got my answer when he was traded. I know nothing about Gaines who we picked up but i do know Darby was benched last year for spotty play, I also know how talented he was as a rookie so we'll see there what Gaines has to offer, he's obviously a better scheme fit if he is who they wanted and should replace Darby on the depth chart, all I know is that I just saw an interview with Wade Phillips praising Gaines and that he was vying for the starter role in preseason so that's very encouraging to me, Just my opinions.
The guys we picked up in trade will fit in nicely with the core we draft in April. We're finally getting it right after about two decades

2 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds = 1 franchise QB, yes please.
Bingo
-
Sorry, but as bad as Rex was, we weren't a coaching change away from the playoffs
-
I voted a big fat NO!
The object of building a successful team is to acquire talents like Sammy Watkins. This deal smells and I'm really wondering what the hell is going on.
How many yards per game has Watkins put up in the playoffs? Oops
-
I'm on record as neutral to ok with the Darby trade, but I think trading Sammy was a huge mistake.
I think his value is much higher than what he's shown so far...some his fault, but alot is on the QB as well. This trade will make us look worse than trading Lynch if he stays healthy, and this move hurts the offense for the foreseeable future.
Yes, but if we have a piece that we think may be good right now, with a big payday coming, then we have a problem. What if we invest a lot to keep him and don't end up with the other parts. I'm for the full reset and build everything from the ground up. Sammy had some skills but I think he was very overrated

These trades were made with St. Louis and Philly. And you can quote me on that

I've wondered if fans like ourselves don't like to think about these things, or we dismiss the findings, because of our love for the sport. I see people do the same when someone brings up climate change. They don't want to think about it or they dismiss the findings because it could mean their company could go out of business
Exactly. That's why the NFL was directing their money away from studies that would hurt them and why their money is no longer wanted.
This is why I say all future players should sign an assumption of risk waiver or not be allowed to play. It is known, playing football for years most likely will give you this, but players assume the risk by doing so.
I don't feel that the NFL should be held accountable anymore now that its known.
If only the Romans offered waivers at the Coliseum, that would have fixed everything.
-
They'll love taken on a $2.5 million dead money cap hit instead of paying him $612,000 to keep him.
Well, factor in what our other roster options are. If what is his value vs a guy who fits (assuming he doesn't)
-
If the coaching staff clearly see he can't be a playmaker in our new scheme, he very well may be cut
-
Which is why we need preventative testing for CTE. I cannot believe its not part of the physical for all draft eligible players and free agents. The NFL is a ruthless business.
And it's also why they hired the son of a former politician as commissioner. They are fighting tooth and nail.
-
I know the saying but its pretty dumb in my opinion. There are 3 things that can happen with a run too, and two of them are bad.
1. Gain yards
2. Lose yards
3. Fumble
There's a couple things that can happen when you pop open a beer
-
Again, not a Doug fan but 9-7 with a roster that was pretty bad, not sure some of you guys expect.
Rex had a far superior roster to not do as well.
Roster now is even better now, how many more games will they win?
Exactly. And he said ideally he wouldn't throw a pass. He never said he think that is likely to happen.
-
I heard they offered a contract but he dropped it
-
Anyone understand the word ideally?

One thing I will never forget about the drive home (as I thought nothing of it on the way to the game, as it was typical in my car), after a half hour, the Oil/Choke light came on my dashboard. My friend and I were laughing so hard we almost had to pull over and stop.
Last year I actually dug up my ticket stubbs from the game
Deshawn Watson is better then Tyrod. Yes I said it

Watson is playing well. He will struggle as teams adjust to him and then we will see how he bounces back. A few good games doesn't put him in the hall of fame. A few bad games doesn't break a guy either
