  1. I don’t know about you guys, but given what I am hearing and reading about the issues that surrounded the team (and players) this year, I am pretty impressed that Red was able to get them to 20 wins.  Seems like there was a consistent theme of personnel issues and attitude problems and injuries.  Hopefully all that can stabilize for next year and this team can take a step back into the tourney.

  2. I don't get the narrative around SU this year and them being on the bubble.  20 wins, 4th in ACC, peaking at the right time of year...they would be a given for the tourney most any other year.  They are super young, but clearly have been growing into their talent over the past 6 weeks.  I think that Bell has been the difference, his assertiveness on offense has been awesome.  And the light finally turned on for him to play a little defense and rebound.  If he can keep doing those things he could be a 1st round pick with his shot.

Just imagine if Jesse had stayed and we had a true center on this team??

It also would shock me if Judah went to Georgetown next year, does anyone know why?  I mean that would be such a step back for his career IMO...either stay at Cuse or go pro.  Is the NIL money that much better at GU?

  3. I went to U2 at the sphere back in October and it was insane, very cool, and overwhelming at times.  I have seen them a lot and it was an incredible show and so different than any concert that I have ever been to.  Any concert there will be a super unique way to see your favorite band

  4. It has been really cool watching these guys grow and gel this year.  They are getting better and not playing afraid. I think they are going to make the tourney this year and will be super fun to watch. Their defense has been lights out in my opinion for a first year playing man-to-man.

    The short answer is yes.

    1. He just didn't put in the same level of effort that Red is putting in and there was only so much Red/GMac could do as the assistant coaches. Recruits want to see the head coach and when they're getting recruited by 10 schools and 9 of them are sending their HC out to meet with them and the 10th is sending an assistant...it just doesn't look good.
    2. Other schools told recruits they didn't know who they'd actually play for at Syracuse and it worked; kids don't want to go to a school and then find out the coach is gone and they may no longer be wanted.
    3. Boeheim vetoed some recruits that Red/GMac had worked and had ready to commit.

Point #2 isn't really Boeheim's fault; just kinda natural when you get up there in age. #1 is pretty much inexcusable. #3 depends on the reasons involved.

I think it also helps that Red and the new assistant are extremely connected in the DMV and that's where we got guys like Freeman to suddenly be a lot more interested in Syracuse.

Today is the day for the Judah Mintz decision; seems like everything has gone dark and nobody knows what he's thinking right now. My own speculation is that he's probably holding out hope that he'll get a team give him some good news before the deadline...I think he's probably looking for any reason to stay in the draft, but selfishly hoping he comes back to school (mainly because I want us to be good, but also because I think he's one of the rare Syracuse early entries where he could improve his draft stock by returning).

This is good insight, Thanks DC.  Judah should stay.  I can't remember the last SU player that had fringe draft talent that stayed for another year.  If he could improve his jumper he would be lottery next year.

I know that a couple of you guys have some "inside" info on Cuse bball, curious about something...It really seems like once Jimmy B. left our recruiting gets/interest/buzz picked up big time.  Was he holding recruiting back the last few years?  Did getting him out of the equation really change that much for Red and the boys?  Either way it is a great thing, but would love to know if there was a dynamic there towards the end.

I used to sell these and the 2 bits of advice I can give is that if you have the 17" tabletop version it would be easier on your wallet if you bought the adaptor so you can use the 15-20 lb propane tank... those little screw on tanks get pricey if you use it a lot plus it sucks to run out when you suddenly have a bigger crowd than you first thought.

Other thing is they take a bit of time to get seasoned right, sort of like cast iron pans, so use some sort of cheap shortening like Crisco over your cooking surface when not in use. Get a couple of 6" drywall knives (stainless steel) and the lid off of any 10-12 inch pan to steam/melt, etc. Blackstone accessories are stupidly over priced so just avoid their stuff if possible. Enjoy...

I agree with this!  Hit Amazon for accessories.  Also, season the hell out of the thing to get it to that cast iron level of crust on it.  I think I did the seasoning process 4-5 times one Saturday and got it just right.  It is much easier to clean once it has the seasoned layer on it.

  8. Coach McD has strong character, those who are bitching and moaning about him and his presser have maybe/obviously never been in that kind of leadership position.  To me, he is clearly distressed, hurting, and angry about it.  I believe him when he says that the organization will do the right thing.  He has always been that kind of leader.  And IMO he is a man of his word.
