Bills officially sign QB Kevin Kolb

And he won't have... Larry Fitzgerald, or anything close. -

Memory refresher on "beating the Pats" this past season: http://espn.go.com/n...ameId=320916017 Blocked punt set up a TD, defense harrassed Brady all day, Gostkowski missed a 42-yarder. Pats missed a game-tying 2pt conversion. Kolb was 15 of 27 passes for 140 yards. That's fine, but not impressive. -

Came in for an injured Skelton in week 1. Got sacked to death in week 5 vs. the Rams. Came back and week 6 the Bills knocked him out for good. -

Rob Johnson had a stronger arm than Flutie. He was a stiff but that's not why. -

Fitz is my boy? Uh... And I thought Arizona overpaid for an unproven and unremarkable QB at the time. The facts are in the stats I shared earlier in the thread. Whoopty-doo, he helped beat NE. BTW, did he or did he not have one of the NFL's best receivers the past few years? -

And Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Bills to beat the Pats in 2011. Rah rah? We'll see who's right. Hall of Famers are infallible and their opinions on all matters are worth their weight in gold Sincerely, Bill "I <3 Trent" Walsh Marv "GM of the Year" Levy -

My point was that history suggests that Kolb won't be good. I don't need all the fingers on one hand to count the number of good opponents Kolb has led his team to victory over. That Reid believed in him is something, I guess. I look at around 59% completion %, struggling to get 7 YPA, a not-great TD/INT ratio, and I see... Just A Guy. Maybe he had potential at one point, but there is real risk that the man is shell-shocked. -

Would still look at Manuel if there in R2, and one of the other guys if they linger into Round 3. But I think this is a fair strategy. Who knows what they think, though? -

History. Drew Brees had an amazing season before the shoulder injury (in 2004, then another good one in 2005). Apples and oranges. -

Rich Gannon may or may not have been one, but his is still a situation that screams "outlier." -

Anyone think he looks like Doug Flutie's skeevy grown-up clone in this photo? -

... which is smart, to a point. If he gets cut he gets free rein, or if Seattle has to keep him he is one rough play away from starting for a SB contender. Starting is nice in the NFL, but so is making a sh-- ton of money to be on a Super Bowl-worthy roster, whether you play or not. -

Wasn't Oakland going for Flynn? This is a pretty "meh" move to me. I guess it gives them a quality backup, but I still want them to draft a QB in R1-2. And the concussions are a real concern. -
Romo's favorite targets on the Redskins and Eagles are excited by this move.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
RuntheDamnBall replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not in the least. Given that there are few people beating the Nassib drum and conventional wisdom saying that Smith is the top prospect, it'll be some cachet for Cosell to be right here, and it'll probably be forgotten by most (see Mayock re: Newton and Gabbert) if he's wrong. I don't think he's racist or anything like that if you think that's what I'm insinuating. I simply think he is trying to stir the pot and get hits like most sports journalists out there, and going against the grain does that for you. We'll see, won't we? -

OK, it's striking me that Cosell has an agenda here. -
My theory on the draft and 2013 season
RuntheDamnBall replied to Harryhood280's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Welcome to the board. I think what you suggest might be possible, though I really hope Geno is there and they pull the trigger. I do caution against the notion of a "sure thing" around these parts. Sure things can end up being guys like Mike Williams, too. The sure things available at this point appear to be the offensive linemen. This is one area where the Bills seem to have done well picking from the waiver wire and under-the-radar free agents, but they do need guards now (a situation of their own making). Warmack will probably be there and I hate the idea of drafting a guard so early to replace a very good guard that they groomed and just let leave. That said, it does line up. If one of the top tackles falls to them, I'm sure they have to consider that, too. Who else strikes you as a sure thing worthy of #8, though? Maybe Milliner, in which case, get prepared for the apoplectic on this board -
Stevie Johnson doesn't workout in the offseason
RuntheDamnBall replied to ET1062's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, it's like, if he hadn't dropped so many balls, he wouldn't have been one of the most prolific receivers of our time. T.O.'s problem, in his prime, was rarely with his production. -
Next year Johnny Football very well could have lost some luster. He looks like a player, but Jake Locker, JP Losman, Matt Barkley, Matt Leinart were all guys that looked like can't miss #1s heading into their draft year. There is a pretty rich QB class next year, I must admit. I'm intrigued by Murray and Boyd - was hoping they'd come out this season.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
RuntheDamnBall replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's all pretty funny since zero has changed in terms of his abilities or production through the offseason. The kid could be good, but beware the good vibes that agents and rival GMs like to send out this time of year. There is gamesmanship all around in a very high-stakes game. -
Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
RuntheDamnBall replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's just a testament to the interest in this particular scenario, one that is fairly polarizing. The Zac Dysert thread isn't 50 pages long for good reason, even though he may be as likely a pick for the Bills as Nassib, for all we know. Lots of reasons to be both interested in and wary of Nassib given the new regime. -
Nix not close on re-signing anyone.
RuntheDamnBall replied to Jdragon2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a totally great idea, to throw an entire season and throw paying fans under the bus so you can have a shot at a guy who might reject you because he has college eligibility left.
