  1. 2) Donte Whitner played like a pro bowler the whole game. Laid some nice hits, played good in coverage, caused Megatron to have alligator arms on a big 4th qrtr play

The only problem I had with his play was that stupid shoulder he gave Calvin Johnson after he was already in the end zone. He often tackles that way, WITH HIS SHOULDER. That's not tackling and it drives me nuts!!! :wallbash:

  2. He was a one-year-wonder at Penn State. The first thing Nix said when he took the GM job is that you don't draft guys like that with a #1 pick.

Found this little tidbit that speaks volumes:

"Opportunity seemed to be the issue as well for Penn State’s Aaron Maybin. Maybin’s 2008 season was so big he chose to enter the draft as a third-year sophomore. But he only got on the field as a full-time starter two weeks into the season after teammate Maurice Evans was suspended.

Maybin was a beast with 49 tackles, 20 of which went for loss, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles. Prior to that however, Maybin had only recorded defensive stats in nine games. Nevertheless he’s considered a first round pick that could find his way into the top 10."

There's been a lot of guys who project into that hybrid DE/LB position and many of them don't succeed. I think the Broncos have been bitten a few times by this type of player. Jarvis Moss ring a bell?

  3. I have no idea what is up with Wang, my guess is they are teaching him guard too to make him a util linemen, much like Urbik and howard now. I suspect we have 7 of our future OL on the team now and need to add a starting quality RT. Having depth of Wang, Urbik and/or Howard isn't too bad.

My guess if they are practicing Wang as a guard right now to get him up to game speed, and not to expose him to the outside-edge pass-rush. Remember, he's NEVER played in an NFL game pre-season or otherwise.

  4. Billy Devaney of the Rams said they had considered trading their top pick in the last few years and it is next to impossible. No-one wants to give up a bunch of draft picks for the right to pay $50 million guaranteed to an unproven player. It's almost a curse to keep having a top pick.

However, if a rookie cap gets put into place there could be some SERIOUS wheeling and dealing.

  5. This argument can be skewed any way you would like. I'll just say this, Sam Bradford looks mature and seems to be doing a good job right now. If the right QB falls to the Bills #1 pick, it would be a good idea for them to take one.

Having said that, one of the reasons the Rams won a close game is that they put up SEVEN SACKS (and one INT) today against the Chargers. The Bills have only six sacks ALL SEASON!!!! The Rams only gave up 79 yards rushing as well.

Do you think the Bills even with Fitz could be at least 2-3, maybe 3-2, if they only gave up 79 yards a game and had a pass rush?

    I do.

  6. Spiller was a luxury. He is an exceptional talent but we could have used O line help.

I still like the Spiller pick but change "OL" to "LB" and I might agree. Today had me almost convinced that spending our 1st two draft picks on stud linebackers, would do more for this team than a QB would.

But yeah an offensive tackle, even a right tackle, would have paid dividends as well.
