  1. 15 months between posts could be a record.

... and it's really funny if you picture the original poster still waiting to buy a car/get insurance because nobody was telling him what to do on here for the last year and a half.

  2. They've made a very good start on a waterfront that could be amazing if the skyway is ever taken down.

I actually think The Aud is a bigger issue, and, thankfully, that's going away.

My first impression while looking back at the city from the new harbor is that the Skyway/190 actually looks OK/cool when there's stuff going on underneath it. It could use some paint or something but I don't think it has to go away.

  3. suspension is pay your fine, do your time, and get your same license back.

revoked means you can not have a lic for specified period, and when that period is up, you have to get a permit and do a road test all over again.

also, if he was hit with a major violation on his lic due to the hit and run, it can keep him from getting insurance through a major company for up to 5 years. and his rates will be crazy if he goes into the new york state run insurance plan before the five years, ie 3000-8000 per year, maybe higher.

i know the guy is rich, but what a waste of money.

But what is the specified period?

  4. To restate, my point is this...

I think that Marshawn's attorney MAY have negotiated for a revocation rather than a suspension in order to expedite the process of resuming normalcy.

I still can't find anything (online) that describes revocation which DOESN'T involve DUI/drugs but it this point, I still think he might have been able to start the process of getting his license back immediately... all while making people think he was in "deep trouble."

It also occurred to me today that it must be rough to have an entire community know who you are AND know you have no license... can't exactly blend in.

  5. It occurred to me that with the indefinite nature of a revocation, Lynch may have been able to plead guilty in traffic court, walk out the door, and head directly to the DMV at 77 Broadway and start the process of regaining his license. Basically, it seems to me that while "revocation" sounds bigger than "suspension," it may be preferable (for Lynch) in this particular case.

Suspensions come in the 30 day, 90 day, 1 year (etc.) variety, but a revocation, as far as I know basically means "you no longer have a license... start over." The only info I can find online deals w/ revocation as it pertains to DUI-type of situations.

After writing the previous 2 paragraphs, I just found one reference to the "revocation period" but I have no idea what that means when there's no alcohol/substance abuse involved.

    Anyone have any details?

  6. Ok I think, if you want to play this in winamp or windows media player on your desktop... I think you can use this url...

    mms://nick11a.surfernetwork.com/weck

.. though surfnetwork might get a little mad for missing out on some ad revenue.

Thanks for putting that link up. Once I get a chance, I'll have a permanent thing on my site using that as well as the regular one. (I prefer yours.)

  7. Really? That's big. Congrats on that, Brad, even if I did enjoy Howard's play-by-play. Thumbs up on the webcast, too.

I can fix the title, but then the Promo-bashing earlier in the thread won't make sense. Decisions, decisions...

    Easy choice... leave it alone.

Here's what I was told about streaming... could be up as soon as a month from now, conservatively 2 months. Bottom line, it's in the contract for the UB broadcasts so it HAS TO be there by football season.

  8. That's terrific news. Although now that means Schoop and Bulldog will start bashing UB sports. Will Howard Simon continue as the voice of UB Football?

I like having my name in a thread title (even if it's spelled incorrectly.) Whenever it shows up near the top, I know to open it up and take a look.

    Here's Pergament's article...

WECK to broadcast UB football, basketball games

    Updated: 05/21/08 3:51 PM

The University at Buffalo football and basketball teams will be carried by a new radio partner next season.

During "The Brad Riter Show" tonight, WECK-AM is expected to announce it will carry UB's games in both sports.

The football games had been broadcast on WGR-AM for the past several years and the basketball team had been carried on WWKB-AM. Both stations are owned by Entercom Communications.

The football team's move to WECK means a new announcing team will be hired to replace play-by-play man Howard Simon and analyst Brian Koziol, since both work for WGR.

Josh Whetzel and Pete Lonergan are expected to continue on UB basketball broadcasts.

And here's the official press release...

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Division of Athletics announced today a two-year agreement with WECK (1230 AM) and WLVL (1340 AM) to air Bulls' athletic events, including Buffalo's football and men's and women's basketball programs and select other UB events. The deal places all of UB's sports on the same family of locally-owned stations for the first time in its Division I-A era (1999-present).

“We are delighted to be working with a pair of stations that are extremely focused on the great things happening in Western New York and who are excited to engage in a partnership that will be beneficial to both parties,” said Director of Athletics Warde Manuel. “From the beginning of our discussions with WECK and WLVL it was clear that they had a real desire to be our flagship stations, and I am confident that they will give us the kind of coverage that our fans and alumni will appreciate."

WECK (1230 AM) is one of Buffalo's oldest and most recognized stations and has recently changed formats to a news and sports talk lineup that features many familiar voices to Buffalo radio, including sports show host Brad Riter. Riter will anchor call-in shows featuring UB coaches Turner Gill and Reggie Witherspoon during their respective seasons while other Bulls' coaches and student-athletes will be regulars as well. All UB games will be webstreamed for free on WECK and WLVL's online sites in addition to the Bulls' home at www.buffalobulls.com.

The Buffalo women's basketball program will again make sister station, WLVL (1340 AM) its home but will also see a minimum of five games aired on WECK as well. Those games as well as play-by-play and analyst teams for UB's programs will be announced at a later date.

“From the moment we first thought of adding the Erie County coverage of WECK to the Niagara County coverage of WLVL, we wanted to pursue UB Athletics for our programming lineups,” said WECK Operations Manager Tom Schuh. “We are extremely proud to now be the flagship stations for UB football and basketball. These Division 1-A programs are already major players in the Buffalo sports market, and we look forward to contributing to their continued growth and exposure to Western New York’s passionate sports fans.”

  9. There is a brand new course that opened up last year off Southwestern Blvd. about 10 minutes from RWS. I'm not much of a golfer and haven't played there, but I here it is a nice course.

I've only played there once (and have a tee time there this Monday too) but if you're looking for a nice place that is affordable AND close, it's a perfect choice.

I'd also recommend Diamond Hawk (near the airport) for the same reasons (although it's a bit pricier.)

  10. Did anybody else catch when they said "he was drafted by Buffalo, a team not on his radar".

Im pretty sure everyone in the world knew that Hardy would at least be on the bills' radar. What kind of agent does he have not to put the glaring need of one team together with the abilities and measurables of another.

Ruben Brown had no idea that the Bills had him in mind and that worked out OK.
