1. The Jets defense is still good, and you know Martin will see about 30 touches. I can't see Vinny doing much but the Jets are capable of beating us based on the first two things I mentioned. It's certainly a winnable game, and is a must win if we want to make anything of our season.

Before the Jets beat Tampa Bay in Tampa I was thinking we ought to be able to win convincingly next week. After, I gotta say it makes me a little nervous, as I do think Tampa's defense is better than ours. I wonder how the odds-makers will call it.

    Here's hoping for 3-3.

  2. Good post...Kelly definitely has earned another shot, IMO.....I'd like to see what he can do with this offense. We have some nice weapons and he has the ability to use them.

    GO BILLS

I agree. It sure seemed like he was more composed, more able to see open receivers, and in general, just more in command than we've seen JP lately. I was conflicted about the move, but I have to say at this point, we've got to see how this KH thing plays out. It seems a large part of being able to win gains is actually believing you can win games. I sensed that was starting to slip with JP, and perhaps the Bills can start getting that back with KH. I'm not writing off JP, he may well end up as a great future QB for us. For the present, it sure seems like they will stick with Holcomb. I can only hope that is for a long time, as that would only happen with lots of WINS!

  3. Don't give us that TRUE Bills fan crap again.

You sound like those people that brand anyone who disagrees with the president to be not a TRUE American.

If our team sucks, we are entitled (by our emotional and monetary investment) to B word about it, and make our feelings known.

You mention that the Bills players are not playing as well as they are able. What does THAT say about the team?

    471250

Dennis, the TRUE Bills thing is indeed a crock.

Still, don't you have SOME positive feelings after this game? I just wish we could enjoy one day relishing a sorely needed win, before jumping back into the critiques.

Of course it's your right to say what you want. To me, it just feels nice to get a win. I'll start worrying about our next opponent/future on Monday!

    GO BILLS!

  4.

In your opinion does Buffalos defense still hold or would of the fish gone on to score without the fumble?

    471133

I was at a sports bar here in Atlanta, with about 25 Miami fans who were starting to hoot and holler big time. There were 3 of us Bills fans there. One of them turns around and says "you guys getting nervous?" just before the fumble. Of course I have to say no way, you're not going score. Inside, I was feeling that old "here we go again" knot building in my stomach.

By the way, the fumble recovery and the win were SWEET, all the Fins fans had to sulk out of the bar!!!. GO BILLS - CRASH THE JETS!!

  5. I'll be watching the game at the nearest sports bar in Atlanta. The hell of it is in the last couple years there are more and more Dolphins fans, and only about 3 to 4 of us Bills fans. Lately they've been getting really rowdy too (wins help). I expect there will be about 30 of them and 1 or 2 for the Bills tomorrow. I'll be wearing my Bills shirt as usual and hoping like hell that I've got something to cheer about. Otherwise, it could be a long painful afternoon.

Wish me luck - I'll be deep in enemy territory.

Also, with a win, this awful avatar goes!

GO BILLS, THE TIME HAS COME TO RALLY AND KICK SOME TAIL!!!

  6. they say trafic sucks down there .we have a lot of people that moved down from schenectady ge .

    469684

I've been here 14 years. Yes the traffic can be brutal at rush hour, but I'm lucky enough to have a short 10 mile drive to work up in the northern burbs. I lived 5 years each in Orlando, Dallas, and Phoenix and have to say the traffic here is no worse than those. I like it here best due to lots of trees, rolling hills, change of seasons (even occaisional snow), good economy, decent (but not great) schools. You have to get used to Southern rednecks, but they mostly keep to themselves. I'll be a Bills fan for life though, no allegiance to Falcons!

  7. Perhaps, but your catagories come off with a certain tone -  you are all little children, so here are some restricted choices for you compliments of me. Followed by a general appeal to ask the master's approval.

    466745

I wasn't meaning to offend or come off as superior, just making an observation that most of what I see posted tends into one of these categories (concerning sticking w Losman or not). It was kind of stupid to add my last line, (kind of like saying "which of my pigeon holes do you fit into?").

  8. Hey, I'm in that group!! What do you mean by "hyper-optismist"?

Before this season, I planned on giving JP 8 games to really develop. And I assumed he would be inconsistent and possibly stink at points during those 8 games. But I also believed our running game and defense were good enough for us to at least win 3-4 of those games, giving us a good chance to make a playoff run during the second half of the season...when things start to click for JP.

I still hold true to that set of predictions. The only problem has been the playcalling--our run game and defense that were supposed to win games for us, haven't done so. But I think the message was sent to the staff this past week and things will change re. the playcalling.

    466739

Well let's put it this way, compared to most on this board, you ARE a hyper-optimist. You still believe in a playoff run, sticking to your original assumption that we can groom JP and do that. There just are not that many on this board in that camp.

  9. I think it boils down to this. There are basically 3 camps here:

    1) Those who still believe that we have a decent shot at the playoffs. Mostly because the rest of the division is also looking rough, and expecting Miami's bubble to burst. This group wants Holcomb to start because they think he might be enough of a QB for this scenario, and they're worried any more JP starts = losses = end of the dream. This group also hanging on to the hope that we actually do have a great defense that is going to start showing itself again soon.

    2) Those who look at this team and realize playoff chances are extremely slim. Thus the rationale is that you stick with JP and let him get experience, in the hopes that he develops as quickly as possible into something special. This group is willing to take any improvement as a positive - not for this year's playoffs, but for next year (and years after).

    3) Those who think JP will turn things around fast enough that we can still make a run at the playoffs this year. This is clearly the smallest group, made up of hyper-optimists.

Is there anyone that doesn't see themselves at least for the most part in one of these camps?

  10. Instead of being known as the queen city, Buffalo should be called "The City of Perpetual Whiners". Typical Buffalo paranoia and inferiority complex at work here.

Maybe the writer simply wanted to clarify the pronunciation of his name so people don't say it as "lows-man" or "Lawz-man" . It's hardly uncommon in newpaper articles for athletes who are anything less than household names to have the pronunciations shown.

But wait a minute..... It must be because Buffalo is a small market team! Yeah, that's it. Isn't there someone that we can sue!?!?!

    465865

You judge for yourself. Here is the exact quote from the USA Today article:

"The Bills won eight of their final 10 games last season, making many forget — until now — that they started last season 0-4. The Bills have lost three in a row and the job of starting quarterback J.P. Losman (pronounced LOSS-man) is in jeopardy." maybe the emphasis on LOSS was not an intentional stab, eh?

  11. Me too! A win against Miami is a fine salve on an open wound. I just hope these guys get up for this game. I'm not so sure they really have a hot rivalry w Miami anymore (sad). When I was young I suffered through the 21 straight losses to Miami. In my mind, until that score is evened, we cannot beat them enough.

GO BILLS - Kick some Tuna!

  12. It was pretty low for the USA Today, in front sports page article on struggling AFC East, to write "...J.P. Losman (pronounced "Loss-man")...". Give the guy a break! It's bad enough all the second guessing for a new QB, now they stoop to making cracks on his name :)

Give em hell J.P. and make em all eat crow! That is just pure BS.

  13. Soon we'll know. After dropping 3, with both anemic defense and offense (passing anyway), it's time for this team to either dig deep and gut out some tough wins (which would give us fans some hope), OR the finger pointing, infighting, blame game starts and the season spirals away. I hope out of adveristy a true team emerges. I must admit like many others, I'm worried it will go the other way.

I think we need to stick w Losman. If we postpone finding out what he is made of, (playing Kelly so Losman can take a breather/"develop" on the sidelines by watching, etc.) we will end up at the end of the season wondering if maybe he'll develop/ be ready next year. BS! I don't want to go into next year wondering if he might possibly be something. Play him ALL year. If he is not getting better later in the year, he is not the answer, but at least we will KNOW it. Playoff chances are so slim, it's not worth talking about. This is a DEVELOPMENT year. I'm hoping something hopeful is developing by mid season. Not just JP -that also includes O-line pass blocking, and a defense that regains it's pride.

    Go Bills

  14.

as much as i really thought he was capable of managing a game well enough NOT TO LOSE. remember he doesnt have to win for us, just dont lose. he isnt supposed to pull games out of his butt like mcnabb, favre, vick, etc. he is there to just manage the game well enough to not lose.

Since when is it a quarterbacks job to play just good enough not to lose. If you settle for a QB like that, you will never go far. My God, has it been so long since we had a good QB in Buffalo that we are just hoping for a sort of "OK" guy, who doesn't turn the ball over.

Enough on that. Gosh this "is or is Drew not the guy for next year" sounds so much like the posts at end of last season. When will we learn? Give JP a chance.

  15. I think we're mad at the reality of the situation: We've still got a long way to go. We were hoping not to have to admit that going into today's game.

    189528

I agree. It was hard not to buy into the (unlikely) belief that this team had truly started to become GREAT. They were kicking people's butts, scoring more than 33 points a game, defense playing great w tons o turnovers. So we hoped against hope that gosh, we had turned into a great team. Then THUD!!!! We hit the cold hard floor of reality today. That hurt. So we'll moan for awhile. Lick our wounds. Then come back next year and start hoping against hope (again) that we can become great. Because we're Bills fans. We won't give up hoping, and one sweet day we'll watch our team hold a SB trophy high and we'll cry tears of joy together! Til that day, yeah, we'll moan now and then.

All I can say is, this year was better than last, and I appreciate the improvement.

  16. I dont think ya need a great QB.  I dont think Ben or Tom Brady are great QBs they are just good QBs with solid OLs that dont make major mistakes.  Today Drew showed the Drew of earlier this year never looking off receivers and sitting like a statue.  With some upgrades on the OL a good TE with Willis and solid running game this team can win.

    189512

OK, I'll modify my post to be we need a GOOD QB. But I'll still differ with you on your comment that THIS team (w Drew) being good enough to win (by win, I mean a SB). No O-Line in the world can make him shake enough of his bad habits. He will wilt under SERIOUS pressure every time, and there is no evidence to prove otherwise.

  17. I cannot stand having Drew for the Bills any longer.  I would be willing to suffer

with JPs growing pains . I just can't watch another Bills game with this guy as our

    QB.

I have 14 season tickets for 26 years. Ive seen alot of Bills football. I just feel no

    hope with him here.

    189496

Should he stay or should he go now?

Should he stay or shoud he go now?

If he goes it will be trouble

If he stays it will be double.

So come on and let us know,

Should he stay or should he go?

I guess if it's trouble or double, you gotta go with trouble. He goes...
