This is a very interesting spot for Diggs to bet on himself. He's going to be 31 this upcoming season so by the time he gets his next "bite at the apple" in free agency he's going to be 32. Now historically HOF caliber WR's at age 32 can and still do put up prime numbers but the "cliff" for many great WR's is around age 33/34. It's very rare for a WR no matter how great to put up fantastic stats at age 34 and almost never heard of for a 35 year old WR to put up 1000 yard seasons.
I am some random guy on a message board and I am aware of this fact. So I am sure NFL GM's are also aware of this and would shy away from handing a 32 year old WR who became a problem for a good winning organization a huge bag of money. So I am not sure what Diggs long term goals are here?
Lofton was 35 and topped 1000 yards with the Bills in 1991. It can be done, but it is indeed rare.

I'm ok with the trade. If this is a bit of a reboot year with letting costly vets go then sure, do it all at once and move on. I'm actually glad to see the Bills move a player a year early rather than a year too late.
Belichick was known for getting rid of players a little early rather than late, and somehow they kept winning. Hope we can too.

I hate to break it to you, but there were a lot of great QB’s in Brady’s day and he cleared them all.
Brady was 9-4 in AFC championship games. Great record - plus other years he didn't make it to the AFC championship. Even if Mahomes were the next Brady, other QB's did get through. We have as good a chance as any to get through the Chiefs.

Who honestly can stand this anymore. We go from Pats for 20 years no we are looking at KC for another 10.
It's like rooting for the Washington Generals if you aren't a KC fan.
There's a difference. Yes Mahomes might be something akin to the new Brady, but we have a QB of equal caliber now too. It's not like we're in hopeless land like we were all those years against the Pats.

I'm not going to say all our problems on defense in the all important playoff games have been because of injuries, but you'd have to be a fool to suggest that was not a large part of the problem this year. I've always chalked that up to lady luck - and felt like sooner or later we're going to be lucky and have the majority of our defensive starters healthy through the playoffs. I'm starting to wonder though, is there something we're doing (or not doing) that is increasing the chances of injuries?

I feel bad for the Lions fans. I think they would’ve had a better chance at beating KC, but Mahomes has never been swept. I can’t see Brock Purdy and the 9ers with that underachieving defense beating the Chiefs.
I can

McCaffrey on the sideline grimacing as they apply pressure to his upper back/neck area. I'm pretty sure he hurt himself when he landed with full body weight on his head. That could have a huge implication for the Super Bowl. Once the adrenaline wears off he's going to be a hurting puppy.

You gotta take the points in playoff football.
At least most of the time. This is just getting silly.

Look at the bright side, guys, no team has ever won 3 Super Bowls in a row.
So we should root for KC to win this year, so that someone else gets a chance next year?

They are trying to market to the younger generation now. That's where the future is. It's all about the 20-40 year olds now. They are the future fans.
Maybe the other AFC teams will get lucky and they'll break up before the next season, so the refs aren't pressured to push KC forward.

I want to watch the Chiefs get beat. Not that I particularly relish another team (Ravens) getting back to the Super Bowl before the Bills, but I can't stand the thought of another Super Bowl with the Chiefs. I'd like Mahomes record (which is pretty damn good) about reaching the AFC championship to start losing some luster when it comes to winning it.

If the Ravens win it all then we get to hear all of the media "experts" say how LJ is a much better QB than Allen. That will happen if he becomes a Super Bowl champion. Mahomes has won. Jackson has a very good chance to win it. Burrow has been in a Super Bowl. We can wear our 4-time AFCE championship tee shirts with pride.
My wife surprised me with a "2023 AFC East Champions" tee shirt today, and seemed disappointed that I wasn't thrilled with it. Sigh.

The problem isn’t his regular season defense, it’s when he’s going up against the leagues best teams/coaches in the playoffs where his defense has been bad.
He’s a great coach to bring into a bad situation and rebuild a program from the ground up, he’s not good enough to lead a team with Super Bowl aspirations, he’s proven that to this point.
To be fair, I would argue that most playoff teams do worse defensively when going up against the leagues best teams/coaches. It gets harder as you go into the playoffs, and only one team gets out without losing. Every team that loses has armchair coaches second guessing why this or that didn't get done, or pointing out why those painful playoff losses are the coaches fault. I take some comfort in the fact that outside of the funky fluky Bengals game, we're in these games - they are close. Any number of things just going a little right instead of a little wrong would have us winning those games - particularly the last two big ones against the Chiefs.

much as Bass has been struggling nobody would have questioned them going for it instead Think I trust Josh more to convert than Bass
I don't agree with the "nobody would have questioned them going for it" part. While I personally think they should have gone for it, if we go for it on 4th down and don't get the 1st - meaning the game is over, many would have questioned why you didn't just take the field goal to extend the game. It's a no-win situation, either way if you go for it and don't get the 1st down or you miss the field goal you're going to be blamed that it was the wrong decision.

Maybe they get so jacked up to beat the Bills, like it's their Super Bowl, and then once they do it there's a bit of let down the next week. Honestly I was wondering before the game, if the Bills won and experienced the joy of knocking off KC - would they experience that same kind of let down the next week vs the Ravens? Wish I could have found out 😞

I wonder how many Bills fans were praying for that kick to be made, hoping our luck would change, but bracing for the potential heart ache. I know I was.

The schedule sure looks easier. But too early to tell what's going to go on in the offseason for us and our competition.

It seems like most people on this board think the key to getting past the Chiefs and to the SB is "more offense". A case can be made for more defense too. As we have painfully seen, one or two key plays on defense can also be the difference in those tight games.
