In my opinion this is about as close to a crossroads game as we have seen in years.

While mathematically Buffalo is still ok with a loss the tone of the players and McDermott after last weeks loss feels (at least to me) like another loss this week and we start to see the wheels come off for this season. I would have to think that the defense is a little tired of losing games this year when they give up 14 points or 9 points. That shouldn't happen when you have Josh Allen at QB. Diggs at WR.

A win here and maybe they pull together and claw their way to a division title. A loss here puts them 2 full games behind New England. I know the feeling amoung many fans will be "Same old Bills" and it's fair to wonder if a loss would have players thinking "here we got again".

Don't get it twisted...this game is huge for the Bills both in the standings and for their psyche. Let's hope for the best! Go Bills!

I agree, this game is huge.  A win will build confidence and a loss will sow self-doubt - at a very critical juncture in the season.  Shut up the critics today- Go Bills!

Where did I say I was "proud" of that game? What I said was, "I'm not saying that The Bills don't have problems, or don't have to address them. But the prevailing wisdom about this game, the way it is being characterized, at least in its immediate aftermath, is not much more than noise."

Dr. K I think he was responding to my post just above, where I said "I'm proud of the way our team played.  The defense was getting pounded into all night and did not give up.  The offense tried valiantly to make something happen in the crazy wind.  Yes, there were mistakes - but just one or two breaks going our way instead of theirs and we'd have taken back 1st in the East and been the ones getting the glory."

You're proud? Really? I don't know what to say to that.

You may be the only one. I doubt you'll find a single Bill proud of the team's performance here. They're not closing the curtain on the season. Nor should they. But that was an awful thing to watch, and I'm sure it felt just as bad to play in.

Close but no cigar is not a team motto that will see a lot of play in ad campaigns, and for good reason.

They need to cut the inconsistency and they need to play better. Pronto.

Maybe I'm the only one who's proud, but in my eyes in that game they played with great heart under horrible conditions - conditions that were very heavily stacked against them.

  3. We got beat by 4 points by the league's hottest team.   And the sky is falling?  New England's strength is their ground game, which the hellacious wind had no effect on.  Out strength is the passing game, which the wind definitely impacted.  The fact that we lost in those conditions wasn't surprising to me.

I'm proud of the way our team played.  The defense was getting pounded into all night and did not give up.  The offense tried valiantly to make something happen in the crazy wind.  Yes, there were mistakes - but just one or two breaks going our way instead of theirs and we'd have taken back 1st in the East and been the ones getting the glory.

I just don't get so many saying we were humiliated by the great Patriots - the bottom line is the conditions drastically favored them.  You can talk all you want about how horrible we are because we don't have as good of a running game as we all want, but it does not mean we are out of this.  That was a really rare crazy windy night, not something I expect to see again any time soon, certainly not in any more of our games this year.

I think the Bills will use all this as motivation and give them a nice payback in New England (like they did KC in KC).  Go Bills!

  4. We lost by 4 points to the hottest team in the NFL.  A team that like us has a great defense.  A huge part of their game is the rushing attack - which the horrific wind had no effect on.  A huge part of our game is the passing attack - which the wind impacted significantly.  When you add that up I'm not surprised by the loss, nor disheartened by it.  I thought our defense actually played pretty tough (outside of the one big 60-65 yard run), and I was proud that they did not quit, despite being pounded into all night.   Don't lose heart fellow fans - we are not out of this.  Go Bills!

Agree. The way I see our season there are three all but certs on the schedule:

    Jets

    Falcons

    Panthers

    Then three toughies:

    Patriots

    Buccs

    Patriots

10-7 probably gets us in as a wildcard. 11-6 (split with NE) definitely means a wildcard (they'd have the tiebreak on us via conference record so win the division).

To get in as a division winner I suspect we either have to sweep New England OR split with them and beat Tampa.

I thought if we split with NE and end up in a tie with them, (assuming we beat the Jets), we would win the division (due to their loss to Miami).  It is division record not conference record, that is used as the tiebreaker for the division.

  6. When players don't take all the steps necessary to protect themselves as much as possible against illness and then miss games because of it, I think the fans and their team mates have a right to be mad about it.  I remember when Bruce Smith got the flu and missed the playoff game at Pittsburg after not getting the flu shot that year.  What a gut punch!  Injuries on the field are not something that can be eradicated, but this type of thing is avoidable.

  7. The Bucs.  I worry that if we beat them in the regular season and then met them in the Super Bowl we'd lose, because the odds of beating them twice in one season are mighty low.  We don't have that concern with any of the other NFC contenders.

In the AFC, as the weeks go by I'm starting to get concerned about the damn Patriots.  Mostly because we have to play them twice, and if we met in the playoffs that would be three times.  They seem to be getting stronger and stronger.

H20, I thought the same thing.  It looked like the team that was going to hit the bully in the mouth and say bleep you to the media.  We were it, and get over it.  Keep the swag going vs. TN, and Tampa.  Yes, I live in Tampa, and I hope we breath them down like we did to KC.  Those two are on my short list for games of the season now that we humiliated KC.

Frankly, I don't think you beat the Bucs twice in a season.  So I'd be quite happy to lose the first one in a squeaker, end up 15-2 with home field, and beat them again about a month and a half later 😄

  9. The rotation worked great last night.  At first after seeing KC hold the ball a long time and us scoring much quicker I got the old "crap, they're going to wear us down and by Q4 the D will be spent" concern.  NOT!   They were looking really fresh even near the end, still swarming.   I like a great D even more than a great O, and am loving what I'm seeing from this unit so far - fun to watch!

  10. Wow that SUCKS!  Here in Atlanta I've been looking forward to watching the Bills - Chiefs on my man cave big screen TV for weeks (the only Bills game that's aired locally so far), and at the last minute Dish shuts off NBC.  Just found out this morning - WTF!!!  I guess I'll have to go see if I can get Peacock Premium loaded on the TV.  What an unexpected disappointment and pain in the ass!

Dish did this BS previously with AMC, then HBO.  I understand that they're saying the company that provides the locals is trying to rape them with an outrageous increase in fees, but it looks like Dish's policy in such cases is always the same - we'll play hardball and just shut off the programming to our subscribers, and blame it on "the other side".   Me thinks that is not a winning strategy with their customer base.

So true. The mortality rate of this disease is so low. I’d like to see comparison mortality on Vaccine compared to disease.

In the US we have 660,000 deaths among 41 million Covid cases, or 1 death for about every 62 cases.  Hell, assume that number of cases is way underestimated, assume it was among 160 million cases - that's still 1 death for about every 240 cases.  The mortality rate is not "so low".

If 1 out of even 1000 died from just getting vaccinated, we'd have had 180,000 deaths due to vaccination by now (180 million fully vaccinated).  That's not the kind of thing that just gets covered up/not reported.  The real numbers that have died due to vaccination are immensely lower than that.  Then again the types of people who believe in conspiracies could probably be convinced to believe just about anything.  For what?  To suggest it is "safer" to not be vaccinated than to be vaccinated is simply a ridiculous argument.

  12. I took a look at the Chiefs forum on JJ Watt.  It looks just like this one, including the photoshopped picture of him in a Chiefs jersey, the claims he's past his prime, the claims he'd make the D better, that it would be good to get him if the price was right (due to cap issues), and that if he's chasing a ring this would be a great place to land.  Swap "Bills" for "Chiefs" and it all reads the same 😄

Sorry these two below are both free agents,  i would take either one and that would upgrade the play making at the LB position. Barrett seem like the better pass rusher and David seems like the better at covering backs & TE'S.  As for Fournette,  just a name i threw out there and the main point being is we need to bring in someone new as our #1 RB .  Singletary is both slow and too small,  not a good combination to have.  He game is all about trying to juke out defenders and  that may work in college but not happening in the NFL. Moss i would keep around as a solid #2 RB

    Shaquil Barrett

    OLB

    Lavonte David

    OLB

I bet there are a lot forums for AFC teams talking about how they need to get Lavonte David now, because everybody recognizes the Kelce problem.  His price might end up being higher than we can afford.

Get pressure with FOUR, win a Lombardi.

Bucs just shut down Rogers and Mahomes back to back, both have great skill position players around them, but it doesn't matter if you can't pocket pass.

We have the franchise QB, and a two year window before Josh kills our cap space.  Sell out now for a nasty front four, get er done Beane Machine!

Great idea but with the limit in cap space, I don't think we have enough buying power...

peop,e seem to forget.   The Bucs had the benefit of playing KC earlier so they could make adjustments. If this was the first time meeting, possibly a different game.

buffalo is more familiar with Brady tendencies and play calls. They have bern able to control Gronk.

Mahones mobility was hurt.  Allen would have done much better.

Yeah, you're right on that second bullet - the Bills have had pretty good success against Brady and Gronk - that would have surely worked to our advantage :wallbash:
