  1. I think I started my response by saying "Yes- I was excited we signed Jason Peters.

I'm sure any draftknick will tell you the same thing.'

(Did you catch the wording this time......nice and slow for you this time .......".I'm.........sure.......any......."

Thus, I'm obviously not claiming any "SPECIAL" knowledge or awareness about Peters.

This then makes your silly responses null and void because your ability to read or comprehend the written word is clearly lacking.

Yes- we did put him on the practice squad after we cut him and he visited a number of teams that chose not to sign him.

If you went to camp like I did the year he was a rookie you would have never considered him "fodder" to use

    your wording.

His potential at tight end was extremely intriguing!!! So if you are intrigued by Kirk Chambers potential-to each his own.

Obviously I'm no "draftnick" like you but spare me your insults. I was simply trying to point out that even with the best of info it all remains a crapshoot at times (Read: (nice and slow now) Mike Williams vs. Jason Peters). In any event if you want to throw "crap" around, I believe it was you who broke out the CAPS AND "ANY DUMB ASS" references without provacation. Real classy...dumb ass.

  2. Not that I expect similar results, but was anybody excited when we signed jason peters?

    [/quote

FOR THE LAST TIME---GETTING PETERS WAS NOT A BRILLIANT BY DONAHOE-ANY DUMB-ASS KNOWS TO TARGET THE TOP TEN

    PLAYERS THAT GO UNDRAFTED!!!

Right and I'm sure you expected him to become the player he is. congrats. You were right once. enjoy it. As I recall he was a "project tight end" and we were clearly thinking he was worthy of a draft pick when we put him on the practice squad. As we all know...it's such a breeding ground for pro-bowlers. Maybe I'm nuts but give me a break. The retrospectacles you wear are inflating your sense of self worth. Please be sure to submit your list of future undrafted free agent pro-bowlers before they actually develop. As far as TD goes....did I even mention him? Once in a while anyone gets lucky. We got Peters. St Louis got stock boy turned MVP etc. My point is we sign players to have a role. Some are better than we could have dreamed. Some are our biggest nightmare (Mike Williams). This guy we signed is fodder for training camp and may provide depth if he makes the squad. Sounds likes what a lot of people may have said about Peters.

  3. For those of us who will go through it...

I'm trying not to throw up right now. Just watching this gives me palpitations. I just told my wife it's something I have to suffer through since it's on. the biggest play of the game (in my mind) comes after we get the safety and we can't convert when Reed drops a ball. I think if we get a first down there it's at least 15-3 at the half instead of 12-10. It never gets any easier suffering through these replays.

  4. lots of troubles there...and I won't go into details, but there certainly aren't 2.5 million bills fans out there willing to give $10. The entire state of NY probably doesn't have 2.5 million people north of westchester. The amount of money a team like the patriots or redskins can make from boxes and corporate seats is staggering. The pats club seats - not boxes - go for about $450 per ticket per game if I remember correctly - Buffalo simply doesn't have those kinds of businesses or fans who can pay that kind of $$.

Are there 2.5mil of us in the world? Like I said, I for one would contribute and I'm in NC. You're dead on about corporate/suite situation though. That's an impossible amount to collect relative to the "rich" franchises. Here's hoping Ralph sells the rights to the stadium. Enough of the noble stance already.

  5. I was daydreaming the other day about stadium naming rights (yes...sad; I know) and was thinking about the Green Bay situation where the team is publicly held. I know the NFL no longer allows this scenario but what about "12th Man Field" or "Fan Park" where zealous fans can make contributions to a specific fund for having the stadium named after "us." We don't "own" stock but can contribute in a way that may help keep the team. And yes, I realize season tickets /single game tickets are expensive enough....and I think Ralph should sell the rights given current economics. I'm not sure of the legalities but the math is interesting even versus corporate sponsorship. If you have 2.5 million bills fans willing to contribute 10bucks per year; that obviously equates to an easy 25million. I, for one, would be willing to contribute more and there may be way more than 2.5mil willing to kick in a little (I hope?). I live in NC now and can't have season tickets but do try to go to one game per year. for me, the thought of rooting for the Buffalo Bills of Los Angeles is nauseating. This would be one way to add support from a distance. Flame away.... :D

  6. check out the Backlund/Iron Shiek match, the classic throw in the towl match, Ill post it if I can find it

Wow. I still have way too much of this stuff in my brain. I swore it was real until about 5th grade. Anyway....I believe Backlund lost because he had been attacked and hurt by the Shiek while Backlund was "twirling" the Shiek's concrete clubs (not sure what those things were). He had said no man could do it and, of course, Backlund "stepped up" and did it. Obviously we all know this was the set up... he was "hurt" in the attack; proceded to wrestle and lost to the Shiek.....who became the "bad guy" for Hogan to take down. I remember Backlund introducing Hogan to take his place in the rematch in one of those Gene Okerlund interviews. As pathetic as this is when I read it back to myself.....I loved it as a kid. :D

  7. Whereas one could make an arguement that London Fletcher-Baker needs to be re-signed, methinks Mr. Fletcher-Baker and his fan base in WNY need to be resigned to the fact that Marv will probably no re-sign him. London will likely need to pursue his options elsewhere by signing with another team - or else resign from the team and retire from the league entirely.

There are few options for him and The Bills. Their rebuilding process is only beginning. They're not likely to re-sign him.

Two roads met in a wood. To be or not to be. Too many to count. Our hour is nearer than the ewe thinks - are you then?

    Well put.

    Signed,

    billsfanm.d.

  8. Spikes has never played MLB always OLB. That is like saying the Chargers should put Merriman at MLB. This is not a video game!!

Shane Conlan was "always" an outside backer as well. At Penn St and when we drafted him. When we acquired Bennett, Conlan reluctantly moved inside and had a run as one of the best run stuffing mlb's in the league for a few years. It can be done. There certainly are athletes better suited to weak, strong and middle but they are all linebackers. It's not like we're asking him to play quarterback. I personally think he could succeed. We'll see.

  9. and his drunk canadian ex-kicker

Hey come on...I mentioned him. All right, he has a little whiner in him. He may get after teammates on the field (so did Kelly and every QB worth their salt) but nobody had a hands on hips whining streak like #13. That was a lock to appear every single game. I guess I'm guilty of wearing rose colored glasses in reverse. Everything other than Brady looks so good right now I end up skewing reality to make myself feel better  .

  10. Nobody deserves to win championships, teams go out and get it done. Peyton doesn't deserve to win one yet because every time he's been put in a situation to win his team has come up short. I don't see this year being any different. Peyton hasn't been terribly impressive this post season, and though their defense is improved its not as good as SDs defense, I really don't think Peyton has it in him to win a big game. He never did it in college and has yet to do it in the NFL.

Agreed. I tried to imply that concept by putting "deserves" in quotes in the original post. You stated it much better. I agree that Manning has been poor this playoffs but if Brady get credit for 'just winning' with a passer rating of 50ish then so should Manning. Personally, I'd like to see Manning win because I cannot stomach the thought of Brady winning again. In addition, Manning has seemed to always handle his "lumps" with dignity. He isn't the whiny Marino type. He plays hard and never calls out a teammate....unless it's an "idiot kicker." Just my 2cents.

  11. GO COLTS! GO SAINTS!

    Then GO COLTS!

I agree. That scenario is ideal. Feel good saints versus classy Manning/Harrison led Colts. I still don't really "care" about the playoffs if the Bills are out but I try to find something to gain interest. Manning may prove to be the best QB of all time and if anyone "deserves" to win one it would be him.

I think the colts also enforce the point about Willis. You don't need a $7M running back. Joseph Addai looks pretty good in that system with talent around him. I hope Willis stays but not for that kind of cash. We'll see.....

  12. http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/2007_mockdrafts.cfm try this site. Not totaly up to date but does have many links for when the mocks get going!

As you said, "not totally up to date." I looked at four of the mocks listed on the left side of the site and three of four have Buffalo taking a quarterback. Obviously things can change in their assessment but this enforces the concept that most of these things "mock" one another and are typically written by folks who do not even have a finger on the pulse of the teams. They can be fun as the draft gets closer but, as written now, they're a joke.

  13. It's a math problem. If Willis wants 5mil/per he can hit the road. Mind you, I'm typing while wearing his jersey so I'm not a basher. I felt he was phenomenal in his first active year with Buffalo. The pile always moved a few more yards. I just haven't seen him as an absolute difference maker. Granted, the line sucks...etc. but I don't have a huge problem with Thomas running hard every week. I would love to see either of those guys with a real line. It's nice to have an option there. Clearly, we do not have this discussion with Shaud Williams.

  14. Bill belichick is an egotistical prick. always has been. cant give anyone else any credit when due.

first of all I agree 100%. However, you can't deny that you'd "love him" if he were in buffalo with the same results he's posted in New England. That's why we all hate him so much...because he keeps beating our ass. I feel the same way watching Parcells. It's partly because he truly acts like an ass (see today's game as example) but it's also because he prevents us from going where we want to be.

  15. [i nominate the week when the "Bickering Bills" had JK and Chris Burkett get into major snit on the sidelines during a Monday night Game. Then cut CB even though he had a big game a couple of weeks before.

    815740[/snapback]

I don't remember the details but how 'bout Thermal calling out Jim that same year. When asked what he felt the biggest weakness on the team was at the time...he calmly replied "quarterback." What a ruckus. That team, although later great, was a mess of egos.

  16. On top of that, look at the stupid posts about players.  MW is a tub of goo.  Drew Bledslow.  TH loves little girls.  The list goes on.  It's uncalled for.  People need to grow up.

Very well said. Getting back to the original post in this thread...Perhaps the hiring of Marv will, if nothing else, afford the Bills some class, respect and grace.
