IMO this is more about 20 year old punks than Canadians.
I had season tickets for quite a few years. When Flutie came here, about 8 seats in a row 1 or 2 behind me got purchased by some Canadians. Never had any problems with them. However, generally speaking, most if not all of them were middle aged.
OTOH, at a preseason game a few years ago, against Green Bay. I had a really ignorant obnoxious college-age guy from RoChaCha sitting next to me. He spent the whole game talking his cell phone and shouting back and forth to his friend who was sitting in the row behind few seats over. (yes, that's right, he was essentially yelling in my ear) If I hadn't been at the game with my 82 year old stepfather, who had never been to a game in Buffalo before, I probably would've have pounded the crap out of the guy. He definitely deserved it.

I tend to agree with this. As an example, if Jason Peters wanted to play for the Bills, he would be a great fit for this kind of offense. He is very good at making downfield blocks to spring runners for big gains. How many other OL can you think of that are fast enough to play on a kickoff coverage team?i'm going with the theory that we replaced overpaid, lazy, SOFT, slobswith
young, enthusiastic, intelligent, angry, athletic guys who WANT to play
just my .02 of uninformed rambling

According to that article, which was written about 7 years ago, it's a virtual certainty the Jags stay in Jacksonville for most if not all of the duration of their lease, when expires in 2030.

I have Time Warner, but was watching the OTA feed yesterday and it was fine. I recorded the game and will watch to see if I notice any difference.

I thought when Byrd was on the field, he was lined up at FS with both Whitner and Scott being closer to the LOS. Is that what you saw? (I was watching on TV)You might want to watch the game again. I was at the game and he was playing FS the entire game. -

NFL.com lists them in the Gamebooks. Click the Box Score on that page, and then the red "Download Gamebook" link on that page.

FOX doesn't have the doubleheader those weeks - the games are starting 4:05. The doubleheader games start at 4:15.

It's the right decision. If he doesn't press charges, it sends the message to the public that this sort of conduct is acceptable, which of course it is not. The laws are there for a reason - when somebody breaks the law, they should be held accountable. If these are otherwise good kids who just got caught up in the moment and did a stupid thing, then the whole process of having to go through being charged/convicted/punished might just scare some sense into them.

As I mentioned in another thread, the Bills basically used 3 personnel combinations. In all of these, Schouman was lined up at TE.
1. Nelson at TE about a yard behind LOS, TO on one side, Evans on the other.
2. TO on one side, Evans on the other, Reed in the slot. (I think always on TO side)
3. Parrish on one side, Evans on the other, TO in the slot.
Every pass to TO came from 3. They used that alignment for a few plays on 3rd down early in the game, and then went back to it for the majority of the TD drive in the 2nd half. So they were making (some) in-game adjustments.

IMO a better chant would beLE-O-DISsame tune as "Let's Go Bills"
Le-O-dis
put the emphasis on the O and have it the longest syllable, more/less rhyming with "They OWED Us" just to give you an example of what I'm thinking

upon further review....
Offense:
The Bills used a pretty limited number of formations and personnel combinations. Of course, that's in part by design. No point of running a no-huddle if you're frequently changing personnel, allowing the other team to do same.
The formation they used the most was Schouman at TE with Nelson just off the LOS. They mixed it up with both TEs sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right, and sometimes one on each side. If I counted right they used this for 20 plays. I'll call this their "base" just to give it a name.
On a few 3rd down plays, they took out Nelson and put Reed in the slot. IIRC the only "success" they had out of this was the pass to Reed that got called back via penalty. I counted 5 times they used this.
The other setup they used was lining Parrish out wide to one side, with Evans on the other side with TO in the slot. I'm pretty sure every pass to TO came out of this formation. They used it for a few 3rd down plays early in the game, and then went back to it for that big TD drive in the 2nd half. However, when they got close to the red zone, they switched back to their "base".
On the final desperation drive, they used the same setup with Parrish and TO in the slot, only Schouman was split out a few steps away from the OT. So apparently their game plan didn't include being able to put 4 WRs on the field. I find that somewhat surprising.
IMO if AVP tries to go with something this limited every week without adding new wrinkles, teams will quickly figure out ways to stop the offense. He's going to have to add a few different things each week that teams haven't planned for.
Special Teams:
Not counting the "hands team" kickoff return, Wendling, Corto, Harris and Buggs played on all the ST units. Let's label the other teams PC, PR (punt coverage return) KC, KR (same for kickoff) and HT (hands team) Here's who I saw out there reviewing the game. I'll leave out the obvious, i.e. the kicker, snapper, and/or return man.
KC - Byrd Denney Wilson Corner Youboty McIntyre
PC - (Corto and Wendling were the gunners) Schouman Wilson Mitchell B. Scott
PR - Byrd Schouman Wilson Whitner McIntyre (I'm missing one)
KR - Corner McIntyre Sp. Johnson Omon Stupar B. Scott
HT - Denney Schouman Wilson Nelson Ellison Scott Byrd Reed Jackson
Regardless of whether it's Buggs or Harris that gets moved into the starting lineup, Bobby April is going to need to find someone to take those spots on the ST. The obvious choice would appear to be Ashley Palmer, who will be activated in Poz's absence. Presumably he performed well enough on ST to fill that role, or he probably wouldn't have made the final 53.

For starters, Kelsay is also hurt, so they don't have enough depth at DE to try what you are suggesting.
On top of that, Maybin has essentially no experience at LB. It would be outright crazy to try to teach him a whole new position from scratch in only a few days.
-
With everybody healthy, when the Bills go nickel, Ellison is the LB that comes off the field. With Poz hurt, Ellison was on the field in nickel and got burned badly for two TDs. The coaching staff is going to have to make some sort of adjustment, either personnel or scheme wise.

1. I'm guessing it's more like 3-4 weeks.I don't believe Poz will miss the entire season this time around. Last time he broke his arm he could have came back in six weeks, but it was his rookie year and they felt it would be best to put him on injured reserve. This year, if it is a six week injury, I can see the Bills releasing one of our corners, such as Lankster, instead.
The only question I have is, if Lankster gets released and clears waivers, can we still place him on our practice squad?
2. Yes, they could release Lankster and if he cleared waivers they could sign him to the practice squad. I don't recall all the details, but I think you have to be on "real" NFL rosters for two seasons before you aren't eligible for practice squads.
-
Poz was back out on the field even before the half was over, with a pretty small cast/wrapping on his arm. I'm guessing this injury isn't nearly as serious as the previous one. It's probably some sort of hairline fracture that will heal in a few weeks.
-
That 3rd down play was the first time I saw Maybin on the field.
I saw Byrd on the field earlier when they were in some sort of dime package. Byrd was playing a deep centerfield, with Scott and Whitner lined up closer to the LOS.

It's a business. As long as they aren't being dishonest or unethical in their business dealings with him, I don't have a problem with it. If they want to add somebody to the roster, they need to cut somebody. He must have figured he wasn't going to stick around all that long. At the very least, there was no way they would keep 7 WR on the roster once Hardy is healthy enough to play. On top of that, somebody else is going to have to get cut when Lynch's suspension is up.I don't.They saw fit to put Jenkins on the roster. Stupar on the PS...so he's now on the roster come what may if I understand the rules correctly..
This really burns me - how do they justify a player cut, the day of the opener?
I think loyalty between the club and the players matters a lot.
-
I think you need 4 years in the league to become vested. Since he isn't vested, he gets nothing. It's Monday so Jenkins gets his full contract paid, correct?
Practice squad players don't normally travel with the team. So they had to have planned this ahead of time so Stupar would know to show up for the flight. They just waited as long as they were allowed to before announcing the roster moves.did Jenkins travel with the team? that kind of sucks to be released that close to game time -
based on my observations, Bell was on the field for one series with the starters in the preseason. I wouldn't call that "a lot of reps". In addition, Chambers played mostly at G in the preseason.
-
Based on my observations during preseason, Corner took all the 1st team reps at nickel. Florence might have been ahead of him on the nickel depth chart when he got hurt, but IMO Corner played well enough in preseason (and last season) to earn the job.

According to what I read elsewhere, Merriman's side of the story is they had been out drinking. When they got home, they had a little spat, and she wanted to leave. He grabbed her because he didn't want her driving drunk/angry. She insisted on being taken to the hospital, but apparently wasn't even scratched.
-
One thing to keep in mind is they'll need to release one more player when Lynch's suspension is over.
-
I was going through the numbers guessing who might be the inactives assuming everybody is healthy. I don't see how they'll be able to keep all 5 DE active. Ellis would typically be the odd man out, inactive. When I saw Bryan at the Pittsburgh game he was around the play or making a play 1 out of every 4-5. The other plays he was just getting blown up because he couldn't keep his separation from the O-lineman. He'd be a big liability in a real game. He's a practice squad project if he's even still eligible. At least Kelsay and Denney don't get blown up quite as much as he does. We really do need to replace those 2 though. I expect Ellis to really expand his playing time with experience this year. Not sure if he'll be a dominant DE but easily better than the Kelsay/Denney monster. -
I've been saying for years that Bobby April has way too much influence on who makes the final roster. When you keep people like Wendling and Corto, and cut people like Bryan and Stupar, your roster gets cluttered up with people who are never going to be anything more than good ST players. You have fewer young players developing, so the team stagnates and never improves from year to year.
4th and 1 at the 2, up by 10......

Clearly the odds of a "disaster" such as a block being returned for a TD are much lower on a FG attempt compared to running a play from the LOS.
By going up 13, you're forcing the opponent to drive the entire length of the field twice. If you're only up by 10, they only have to get to about the 40 to attempt a field goal. So even if they score a TD and recover an onsides kick, they would still have to gain about 60 more yards to get the 2nd TD. If they only needed a FG, they would only need to gain about 20 more yards. Considering the limited amount of time left in the game, that 40 yard difference more than justifies the Bills kicking the FG.
