  1. Google Map

    Here's the route I recommend:

Get off the Thruway at the Camp Rd. (Route 75) exit.

Take that approximately 1 mile to Southwestern Blvd. (Route 20)

Take Southwestern Blvd. to the 7 corners intersection. There will be quite a bit of traffic here, (you'll probably have to wait at least 2 lights to get through the intersection) but it's the last real traffic you'll hit before getting right on top of the stadium. At this intersection you have a choice, depending on where you want to park. If you want to park in the Hammer's Lot, or in Lot 2, which is generally the last stadium lot to completely fill up, turn right on Big Tree Rd. and take that up to Abbott and turn left. Coming from this direction, once you get turned onto Abbott, there basically isn't any traffic at all. It's all coming from the other direction.

If you want to park on the other side of the stadium, from the 7 corners intersection, continue straight on Southwestern up toward the Abbott intersection.

  2. Peters is fine. He played the entire 2nd half of the game. Clements is apparently also fine. The Bills obviously would have kept another CB on the final 53 if he wasn't, as otherwise they wouldn't even have enough CBs to use dime allignments against multiple WR sets.

Per NFL rules, the Bills aren't required to report injury status during the preseason. Based on everything I've read, Parrish is expected to miss something like 2-4 games of the regular season.

  3. I saw this mentioned earlier elsewhere and did a little research on him.

He was a holdout his rookie season, didn't sign until week 2, missed at least the first 4 games that season as a result.

Had a decent second season, missed a few games due to an ankle injury or something like that. Put up pretty good numbers, something like 30 tackles and 4 sacks, don't remember the exact details.

Got a DWI over the summer following that season. This wasn't a "ticky-tack" DWI. He was sited for having a BCA of over .10, going 45 in a 25 zone, and running red light. Missed the first 4 games of last season due to resulting suspension.

Was only active for 4 games last season, had no more than a handful of tackles. Inactive for all of the last 4 games.

Salary cap wasn't the reason he was cut. I looked him up at NFLPA; his base pay for this season is only something like $455K.

He may have lots of raw talent, but apparently isn't motivated enough to perform at the level required to be an NFL starter.

  4. Here in Buffalo, it's "Marineland". They saturate all the channels here with the same stupid commercial with the same stupid song, every year, all summer long. I usually watch channel 7 news while I'm making eating my dinner. The commercial is on like clockwork every 1/2 hour. Once between 5:00-5:30, again between 5:30-6:00, and again between 6:00-6:30. If I leave the TV on to watch ABC Evening news, it's on once there, and once again during Wheel of Fortune, and once again during Jeopardy. I normally watch channel 2 news at 11:00, in part because I like to watch Jay Leno afterwords, and the same commercial is on, normally right before the sports report. I was flipping channels the other day, and the same commercial was even on PBS, which I thought didn't show any commercials. I collect Star Trek episodes, and I have tapes that are 5 or possibly even 10 or more years old, with the same stupid commercial, like clockwork, twice during each hour-long episode. That commercial is primarily responsible for the mute button wearing out on my universal remote, forcing me to buy a new one.

  5. I'm in the process of burning a bunch of old VHS tapes I have to DVD, and am burning the last game at the Aud right now. I'd like to put the exact date on the label, but haven't been able to identify it. I did find this poster:

    http://www.posterartusa.com/bflo/22.html

But the date is to blurred to make out for certain. Looks like either April 14, 1996 or April 16, 1996. Does anybody know for sure what date that game was played on?

  6. Last year I didn't have to sign for my tickets either. I live in an apartment, with 4 small mailboxes near the outside door entrance. Last year, the tickets were simply left in plain sight next to the mailboxes. Today, at least the mail carrier had the courtesy to slide the tickets underneath my door.

FYI, the tracking number provided in the email appears to be of limited value. I went to the usps site and put in the number, and there was no information, and went to check my mail, and saw my tickets had been slid under my door. The delivery confirmation bar code number on the envelope matches the number in the email. So, either that won't get updated until the mail carrier gets back to the office, or he/she didn't bother to scan it.

  7. The Bills management's decision to not go for Shelton or other "plan B" for LT leads me to believe they think Jason Peters could eventually develop into a fulltime role there. They aren't pushing him; it could easily be next year this time before he's even ready to compete for a starting job.

IMO the late round RB pick in this year's draft (forgot his name) will obviously be competing against Burns for the backup RB/FB/ST roster spot that Burns had last season. Burns has unfortunately shown that he's not capable of handling a #2 or 3rd down role, so he's essentially competing for the last RB spot on the roster.

  8. I'm in the process of converting all of my VHS tapes to DVD. I have approximately 400 tapes, and I'm about halfway complete with the transfer. I'm using a device I bought at tigerdirect called "ADS DVD Express", to capture the VHS tapes to mpeg, and then Nero, which came with my DVD burner, to burn the DVDs. It's a very simple process, when it's working properly. To connect the hardware, I just plug my VCR into the ADS device, and then connect that to my computer via USB. The capture program has various options, such as capture rate, and several filtering options. Then, I open Nero and add one or more mpegs, along with a simple menu, and burn it. A 2 hour DVD takes about 1 hour to burn, in addition to the 2 hours required to first capture it. I have discovered a number of quirks in the process. For example, the burning software that came with the ADS device doesn't work. Neither does the capture software that's included with Nero. Also, the capture device occasionally hangs, forcing me to go through a procedure given to me by their tech support where I completely uninstall the device and capture software and then put everything back. Nero has locked up a few times as well. To solve that, I had to uninstall it, install a newer version, uninstall that, and then reinstall the version I have. For some reason there are quirks in the newer version of Nero (3) that prevent it from working properly for what I'm doing.

If you just have a few tapes you want transfered, there are places that will do that for you. Here's one that charges $19.95 per tape:

  9. Here is a press release I found at the Tops site about the new store opening:

    http://www.topsmarkets.com/shareddev/tops_...fm?press_id=144

Even without reading the press release, it's obvious they are the same company, just by looking at the HTML layout at the top of the pages.

IMO they converted that particular store to Martins to compete in the upscale shoppers market against the nearby Wegmans. IIRC there is also a Tops very close to a Wegmans on Sheridan Dr. near Evans, I wouldn't be surprised if that gets converted soon as well.

  10. I was chatting with someone in another forum who is planning on coming in from out of town to visit Darien Lake and go to a concert there. He said that he was planning on staying at the onsite lodging.

Anyone have experiences with this? The one obvious benefit I can think of to staying onsite is that he wouldn't have to deal with traffic on the day of the concert. Of course, the obvious alternative is staying in Buffalo. Certainly would have a larger selection of cuisine. As far as lodging, the first thing that comes to mind would be one of the hotels near the airport. That way, he could just take route 33 out to Darien Lake, which might avoid some of the traffic congestion.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

  11. When I used to work downtown, about 15 years ago, there was a little nothing bar across the street that people there went after work. Rick is apparently an avid darts player, as I remember him coming in there on several occasions to shoot darts. We'd talk sports for hours without running out of things to talk about.

  12. They wait until the last minute to maximize the chances of getting the cuts they want onto the practice squad. For example, one of the bubble players for the Bills is Euhus. If a team that needed a TE, such as the Giants, knew the Bills had cut Euhus, they could tailor their roster cuts to leave a spot open for him, and sign him.

Generally speaking, the later a team's cuts get reported to the media, the more likely it is there are one or more players they want to quietly slip through to their PS.
