New England's effort in Miami was a bit of a head scratcher yesterday. They made a game of it, but they came out absolutely flat and never established themselves. I was watching that game on a second screen. They just looked off all day.
A team that has played a bit over their heads all year is likely to have days like that. They won a bunch of close games.

Seems like a d**k move by the Raiders to win the game when a tie gets both teams in. But I guess the Raiders would prefer being a 5 seed as opposed to a 7. Then there is the divisional rivalry. Wouldn't we want to stick it to an AFCE rival?
You play to win the game, etc....
Seriously, though, the temptation must have been great. Though the kick was no gimme in any case.

It's the Charger way. That franchise has been STACKED for 15 years....always find new ways to miss playoffs or fecalate the bed if they make it.
For years I blamed the perfect weather in SD. It saps ambition.

Who aren't we worried about playing? I mean we have to actually play somebody.
Right? and by definition, that will be a playoff-quality team. Just have to beat whomever they play.

I mean, agreed. But I also feel that way about Mahomes/Tyreek/etc.
Being a Bills fan is hard, not only because of the torments we go through thanks to our beloved team, but also to the heavy burden of grudges we carry.

Do we want the Chiefs or Titans to get the 1 seed?
I want the Titans to lose no matter what it does to the seeding. F Mike Vrabel.

Bengals performance without Burrow is alarming, though not surprising. NFL might get Burrow vs. Mac Jones in wild card round....

Brownies gonna brownie, alas.

Brownies going to add to their lead?

You do realize that even if you convert that TD you need to stop KC anyway, right?
Good point. Irony is right now best case is they force KC to kick a FG and need a TD to tie anyway.

Ugh... I understand 4th and 9 is a long shot... but getting the ball back with time left is a long shot too.

Unfortunately, this was much more likely to go the Bills' way than tomorrow's Scrub-o-Rama between the Bengals and Browns. So Bills may be locked into 4th seed at best before they kickoff tomorrow afternoon. Still need to stay focused and win.

The mark of a bad team is choking on good fortune... even when they keep it close. We've seen enough bad Bills teams to have lived this over and over...

....and there is how the better team ultimately ekes out a win. Alas.

this is the kind of game the better team usually manages to eke out a win, but if the Broncos score a TD on this drive....
-
I keep turning away from this game thinking the Chiefs are taking it in hand, then come back and the Broncos are still in it. This KC team is not playing like a top seed juggernaut right now.

I wanted to make sure everyone is aware that there was a massive change to the map on Friday. A huge portion of the country that was getting Jets-Bills is now getting Pats-Dolphins.
I saw that, I guess stations think that will be a better game?

Let's just say that call was easy to make for an NFL that wants to keep winning teams winning.

The chiefs have 0 energy. It’s like they are sleepwalking
They had better turn it around or a bunch of sportswriters are going to have to adjust their previous takes on the team.

If the Chiefs lost, does it help the Bills any chance?
It is one step necessary for Bills to move up to the #3 or even #2 seed.... they can't get win tiebreakers with Cincy or Tenn but can win a tiebreaker over KC.

You're hitting on what I consider to be a really interesting topic here, though it deserves its own dedicated thread.
Namely, the community's views HERE form a tiny percentage of Bills fans' views overall, and what amounts to a majority view here would likely not be a majority view among all Bills fans at large.
The vast majority of people who contribute to these sorts of online sports message boards are overwhelmingly kool aid types looking for a "booster club" environment to cheer on the team.
Nothing wrong with that, but in my experience of actually talking to real Bills fans in the real world for 50 years, your average fan is not like that at all. They are much more objective and maybe even pessimistic.
I have often wondered why the Kool Aid Konnection exists in the online environment, but I don't have an answer.
Oh come on.
A solid segment of the population on chat boards, and often a majority of those who post regularly, are self-defined "realists" who think they are better fans because they find new things to criticize all the time. You know, the sort who accuse other fans of drinking Kool-Aid.

Wilson had tried to extend Butler during the summer of 2000 but Butler turned him down, so it was pretty clear Butler knew he was leaving and
I think Erik Flowers was widely being considered a huge reach post-draft even before playing a down.
Spanos at SD clearly tampered with Butler... letting him know the GM job was his with high draft picks and a great ceiling. Of course, Butler did nothing with it, because he had only ever cruised in the wake of Polian's success.

Sadly Ralph's greatest flaw was his inability at points to step back and let others do their job. Especially at the end the game itself had passed him by, business wise I think he actually still had a good pulse for that. The Raiders had the same problem with Al as the sport itself had changed and he was trying to do what worked in the past.I know blaming Raplh's meddling is a common story, but you all should remember that the entire plan with hiring Donohoe was based on Ralph stepping back and letting a "real football guy" run the show. TD was named Team President and everything, to the universal acclaim of all sports writers and not a few people on TBD. So, be careful what you wish for....

I honestly didn't even remember Grossman and the Bears going to the SB. That is hilarious!
For even more giggles, the Bears crushed the JP-"led" Bills that year as well, 40-7.
Josh Allen 2022 season verdict... OC & DC let him down: 64.5% comp %, 51 TDs, 18 TOs, 97.9 Passer Rating, 313 YPG (offseason assessments page 46 on)

That TD pass to Diggs was amazing, but did anyone else notice the blatant illegal contact/holding/PI on the Jets DB? Holy Moly...
