  1. I don't know Tom--there are no difference makers left at the position with TO and Keyshawn gone...Eric is the last one.  This is a smart way to go.  Wait until the market is depleted and then let him seek a trade...I think we can get a 3rd rounder...especially from Denver--they have two #1's -- in fact I bet if we packaged Eric and our second we can get their later #1...

That's the main issue/question I have...what we'll get in return...I like the idea of getting a late #1, but that all becomes predicated on having 2 (or more) other teams bidding for him.

If there's not much interest, there's not much chance of getting anything worthwhile...still, he IS now the best (?) receiver left available, and any team that got "shut out" in free agency (and feels they can't get a good wide out in the draft) SHOULD be interested....

  2. Living in Ann Arbor and working in Detroit, I say let 'em all stay in Motown. But if you're interested in my $0.02:

Andre' Goodman CB: Marginal at best...not someone I'd use on a regular basis

Bracy Walker S: Backup at best

Brock Gutierrez C: Nope. Detroit O-line worse than the Bills'. He can stay.

    Earl Holmes LB: Unimpressive.

Jared DeVries DE: Unimpressed by him too.

Jeff Backus OT: WAAAY over-rated, gives up way too many sacks. Too slow to play in the NFL.

Jeff Garcia QB: Nope--he's a backstabber (but his girlfriend might be worth it--she calls local radio stations to defend him, and she's an ex-playboy bunny I believe)

Kalimba Edwards DE: Ok, probably an upgrade, but not a "franchise" type free agent.

Kevin Johnson WR: Nope--can't beat out any of the 3 rookies in Detroit. Just a journeyman.

    Kyle Kosier OG: Nope

    Nate Wayne LB: Nope

    Paul Smith FB: Nope

    R.W. McQuarters CB: Nope.

    Shawn Bryson RB: No way.

    Troy Edwards WR: Nope

    Tyrone Hopson OG: Nope

    Vernon Fox S: Nope

    Wali Rainer LB: Nope

Obviously, the end of that list is full of backups and journeymen.

Bottom line: Jauron better not pull from Detriot. They're awful. Best of the lot is Garcia's girlfriend.

    <_<

  3. C'mon Jauron is with Detroit, and THEY need a new coach, and he's obviously not good enough for them...do you really want a coach that the Lions don't want?

(Then again, the Lions always pick a loser coach, so them not wanting Jauron might mean he's good...hmmmm.)

  4. I really liked Jeff Backus coming out of college, but since he's found his way to Detroit I really havent followed his career that much.  Any idea how he's adjusted to the NFL game?

Backus is having huge issues in Detroit (I live in Ann Arbor now). They really wanted to love him here (being a Michigan guy and all) but he's being viewed as a huge disappointment (maybe even a 'bust'). Not sure I'd want to seem him on the Bills....
