  1. I could be wrong but the "by far" does, to me, sound like a shot at Allen. He could have ended it at the line "Dak is the best leader I've played with." Done.

But the "by far" automatically brings up more of a comparison. How much better is Dak? He's a lot better than the other QBs Beasley played with — "by far."

As does the line that it can't be taught.

Beasley was very good on the field (until he wasn't) but he's got a big mouth and likes to rankle people/prove his "points."

  2. If Harty splits time in the slot with Kincaid (and I don't mean 50/50; it could be 30/70, whatever) I think defenses will have a very hard time adjusting from big and smooth Kincaid to tiny and explosive Harty.

Just tackling these two different players almost seems like polar opposites.

If we want a change-up in the slot, I think Harty will, perhaps in smaller doses, give defenses fits. And I fully expect Kincaid to be a beast in the slot. I'm looking forward to slot play after a crap year of it.

  3. Great to hear Allen looking very sharp and manipulating the D with his eyes. Also very good to hear that Sherfield has been very consistent and looks like he's winning the battle for the next WR spot (I read elsewhere that Shakir also had a good minicamp).

No, that's no guarantee of anything when the real games come but he's still just 27 (has a few good years left) and is 219 and runs a 4.45 40 — I like this size (more muscle than height, though) and speed combo... And he's got a great story (some may not care, but I like to see good people succeed if they put in the work).

Any summary of how Harty did in minicamp?

McDermott has more responsibility now being a pseudo DC as well as HC, Toss in am sure expectations are higher and higher, he should be stressed.

I could be wrong but his look didn't say to me, "darn, now I have to call defensive plays AND coach the team."

He looks like a man who just found out that his cheating wife is now gonna take the house. Or, to paraphrase Bill Burr, like Mel Gibson's voice going up a couple octaves when he found out his ex-wife was getting his LAKER TICKETS!!!!

This isn't a normal daily grind of coaching and being a DC stress look. To me.

  5. I don't believe for a second that the Bills offered him the most money of any team out there. Some players, like Leonard, want to win and add to their legacy and will take less to play with a great team.

Leonard's attitude is great. I fully expect him to keep piling up the sacks with us. And he's got the voice of a man who likes to knock other men down into the ground.

  6. I know some folks aren't Pat fans but I like him a lot: knows the game from a player's perspective, is funny (to me), and I like the casual but real vibe.

And he seems like a genuine Bills supporter.

AJ always looks like he's ready to cry as he silently hangs out on the right side of the screen.

Morse is a good dude too. Not sure how long he's got with us in terms of concussions and aging but I like him as a teammate.

This is huge, especially if Von Miller isn't quite ready to go in September.   Of course, having two top pass rushers at the same time isn't bad either.  If Buffalo can deal with the middle linebacker issue, they really could be scary good and a nightmare for other teams to have to face.

If Rousseau continues his ascent and Von returns to form — yes, two reasonably sized IFs —  later in the year, we could have three top pass rushers to knock Rodgers, Mahomes and Burrow on their as$es.

Josh is like a grand-slam.  Not sure how you would define "knocked out of the park," but White I'd put there.  Gilmore maybe?

And ultimately of the GM if we want to be fully honest.

Yes, forgot White. Very good pick for the bottom of the 1st at a highly paid position. Still,, I think the Bills for the past 20 years have had too many midling players chosen in the first and not enough difference makers. Lots of regimes to blame for that.

When was the last time this team hit a DL pick out of the park? I guess Kyle for a DT, almost 20 years ago…

I mean going back to 2000 this franchise has been woefully bad at selecting DL. Looking through 23 years worth of drafts, they really only hit on three DL draft picks.

    Aaron Schobel in 01

    Kyle Williams in 06

Harrison Phillips 18 (serviceable, nothing to brag about not retained obv)

*Marcell Dareus 11- Asterisk bc he was legit on his rookie deal, but as soon as he got the pay day he stopped trying and flamed out, so not exactly what you hope for out of the 3rd overall pick in the draft.

So 23 years of drafts, and one legit edge rusher, one HOF caliber DT, one serviceable DT, one who had all the talent in the world but gave up on himself… and then two decades plus of JAGS and busts like Flowers, Denney, the human epitomization of “mid” Chris Kelsay, Maybin, McCargo, Troupe, Lawson, Ed, Epenesa, Basham, Rousseau… I get it’s a hard position to draft, but this has to be like historically bad. Not one legit edge rusher drafted in 20+ years…

When was the last time, not including Josh, that the BIlls knocked ANY first round pick out of the park? We've had some decent first rounders but not a lot and few great ones. I have to think Eric Moulds.. but maybe someone will remind of another great first rounder.

I do agree that he would likely want new a new deal. However, if a team is trading for him and giving him a new deal they can structure it a lot of diff ways including adding void years to minimize the cap hit as well. I believe they could even structure it back loaded so his actual cap hits are LESS than that $13.5 and $10 million the first two years as well.

I hear you. But we've pushed a LOT of money into the future already. Is Donald enough of a difference maker still at this point in his career to continue to do that?

I"d like to think when Diggs and Von are done (and maybe a few other guys) in a couple years that we can reload with some younger guys who will want big contracts. I guess it's the "all in now" vs. competitive every year philosophy. If getting Donald wins us the SB, ore makes us far more likely to win, I'm good with it. Does he make that much of a difference still?

Trading Donald would be the toughest move of general manager Les Snead’s career. One could argue it would also be a smart one.

Donald, 32, is entering the twilight of his career. He currently has two years left on his deal with the Rams, including cap hits of $26 million and $34.1 million before a void year in 2025. Meanwhile, Los Angeles is short on talent and long on needs.

If the Rams trade Donald post–June 1, they save $35.1 million over the upcoming two seasons while also netting much-needed draft capital.
On that front, the picks should be excellent considering Donald is the best defensive player of his era,
and would cost the acquiring team only $13.5 million and $10 million, respectively.

I could be wrong but I highly doubt Donald plays on a new team without a new deal.

So I don't buy that you can have him for only $13.5 and $10 million over the next two years.

Jerry Rice wasn’t cut until 38 years old. Randy Moss was a physical freak who dogged it in Oakland. Also NE traded for Moss, he wasn’t released.

Im just saying. Hopkins was cut. No team was willing to throw a 6th or anything to get him. He’s been available all offseason, before teams set their WRs rooms.

The Cards did not cut Hopkins thinking their team would be better this year. They are likely tanking.

Most of the off season I've thought 2023 is on Dorsey.   It still is, but Josh needs to become elite, and that's about not just being good with some spectacular plays thrown in; it's about being a high-performance technician - getting his decisions and his throws right, play after play after play.

Yes, I don't know if he got sloppy at times in the past out of overconfidence ("arm arrogance," if you will) but he doesn't always play 60 minutes without a couple bad decisions. You're right: stack good decision and smart throw after another and another. Then he can challenge anyone.

Not-so-consistent Josh won't beat KC or Cinci otherwise.

  14. Leslie is a very good man and he can retire with immense pride, having been a key part of the historic 85 Bears D (some say the best ever) and some respectable coaching achievements.

He's correct in noting teams are going to younger coaches — and many prefer offensive coaches to lead a team in an offense-driven league.

I sincerely wish him the best but don't think a head coaching position is in the cards.
