Toronto trying to get more games from Buffalo
Lori replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And as I suspected, the link to that pop-up window is now busted, although the one for the two-game package is still there: http://production5.voxco.com/start/logit/S...POPUP_2GAME.htm I'm shocked. Shocked, I say. Of course, because we completely expected this, you can still see a .jpg of the incriminating evidence here on the Wall: http://www.stadiumwall.com/uploads/monthly...-1237672069.jpg -

Adam Benigni just updated his story on wgrz.com with the statement (emphasis mine): Add: http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=65162 -
Bills can stay in the Buffalo / Niagara region if........
Lori replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My point is, the CFL may well leave Toronto with or without an NFL franchise shoving it out the door, but I don't think the league itself goes anywhere. And I'm not so sure you're correct about the old-men-dying-off comments once you start heading West; the writer I talked to is still in her mid-30s. JMO. -

I'm going to guess two things about you, if you don't mind: you live in Ontario, and you're 40 or under. I recently talked to a friend who used to write for the Calgary Sun, and she laughed -- hard -- at the idea that the NFL would ever supplant the CFL in popularity out in the Prairies. COTU, now, that's a different question. -

FWIW, this is sounding more and more like the "Bills in Toronto" group went off on its own to commission this survey. The team is not amused. Expect something from them either later tonight -- remember, they're on West Coast time right now -- or tomorrow morning. -

And talking to several people as we walked toward Union Station after the Dolphins game (thank goodness for the Skywalk!), they doubted they'd be back. Of course, the fact that the game could have put someone mainlining caffeine to sleep didn't help. It's no coincidence that the survey suggested the possibility of lower ticket prices for the games that haven't been sold yet (other than to people who purchased the entire eight-game package). -

I was at that game. And yeah, the survey company probably didn't like some of my answers. -

Yeah, I checked out both the Logit Group (which sent the e-mail) and Voxco (which runs the data-collection software) before I said anything to Tim about it. My question is, why do the Bills in Toronto folks think there's a possibility of getting a second game each year? Is there something written into the contract about doing so? And if there is, what else might be lurking within the pages of that deal? -

Here's the text of the original e-mail, minus the link. (The URL includes a PIN that's apparently only good for one use.) The first question was about the current two-game package for 2010, asking how likely the customer would be to buy tickets in those price ranges. The 3-game deal reared its ugly head about seven pages in. And later on, as you might expect: "Terrell Owens has recently joined the Buffalo Bills. How does this affect your likelihood of purchasing tickets for the Bills Toronto Series?" -

Based on that survey, someone in the "Bills in Toronto" group would disagree with you. -

Here it is. ESPN.com: Plans afoot to move more Bills games to Toronto? Tim included the link to the pop-up pricing screen, but I expect Voxco to pull it down at some point. So, here's a JPEG of the same thing: http://www.stadiumwall.com/uploads/monthly...-1237672069.jpg -

And yes, I saved every screen of the survey to my hard drive. -

Jack, I wish you hadn't posted that quite yet ... But since you did, here's part of the first e-mail I sent Tim last night: FYI, the Logit Group appears to be a legit marketing research firm based in Toronto. ... Naturally, the lede is buried several pages deep at that link: "Rogers has been listening to its Bills Fans and may be able to negotiate a new deal which will bring an additional Bills regular-season game to Toronto in each of 2010, 2011, and 2012! This now means that a quarter of the Bills home games could be played in Toronto. This would allow us to issue a new 3-Game Ticket Package for the 2010 games in Toronto." He's been waiting to hear back from the Bills, and was finishing the story when I called him half an hour ago. I'll link it here when he posts it. -
Programming note: Tim is on his way out to California for the league meetings which start tomorrow, so I'm not sure how often he'll check in here for the next few days.

Regarding your side note: newspapers have a definite purpose. It's the medium we need to change, not the message ... and if we don't find a way to accomplish that, everyone will be poorer for it. Just one hack's opinion.

If Cleveland State beats Butler tonight...

Goooo Vikings (and assistant coach Jayson Gee, a great guy and a class act when he was here at St. Bonaventure). Great win! -
Neat trick, since Jennings was a redshirt sophomore at Georgia in 1998. (Oh, the situation with Ruben definitely happened, but it was more like 2002 or 2003.)

Hmmm. Now that you mention it ... Gotta be called something way cooler than "Ask Tim," though. Maybe go back to the bar analogy. "Tim's Tavern," or something like that. The wings are hot, the Blue is cold, and the football talk doesn't stop at closing time. Hey, that could work.

Nobody's untouchable if the price is right, eh?

WKU, Siena AND Cleveland State? Oh, heck yeah.

This should have been the Bills logo

Of course, that's still seven more division championships than the four coaches we've had since Marv have managed to compile ... combined ... -
Nicely played. And the fight song is perfect. "If I only had a heart ..."
