  1. Might the Bills be interested in Frank Clark? If for no other reason than to keep him off the Chiefs (KC wanted to sign him, but he wanted too much money). Bills pretty loaded with pass rushers but you can never have enough and this could be a bargain for a proven playoff performer.

They're already planning on a KC/SF superbowl. Miami is the consolation prize.

if the NFL were truly rigged, do you really think they'd leave the cowboys out of the super bowl for THIRTY YEARS?

Of course it's nothing serious when it's the Chiefs. Never is. Meanwhile, Bills have three stars go down to season-enders in 2 weeks.

you should openly cheer for player injuries a little more.

  4. so basically chris jones has to perform/stay healthy to recover some of the losses he's accrued via fine and game check. the chiefs get a player who will be extremely motivated, and have control over him if they want it after the season. for him to reach the highest incentives, it means a super bowl appearance, him winning DPOY or a super bowl win. i'm sure the chiefs will be happy to pay whatever at that point.

what did chris jones gain in all of this? his agents are morons.

Didn't Tyreek Hill play in that game? Why would you fail to mention that? Also no way you'll hold the Lions to 10 points, certainly not with Chris Jones out of the lineup. While we're bringing up unrelated final scores from several years ago, the last time your team faced Jared Goff he put up 54 points on you.

He played a season-low snaps that day recovering from covid. when the chiefs had kelce but no tyreek, they also did fine. when the chiefs had a brand new cast of receivers last year, they did fine. when the chiefs were throwing to marcus kemp and dudes you've never heard of before in the afc championship game, they were fine. this year, without kelce and a new class of receivers, they'll be fine. that's the point. they'll be fine. so wouldn't spend additonal time being cheery (as some are) over a chiefs injury. odds are good that he'll be healthy come playoff time, ready to run circles around more bills defenders. 🥴

  6. the last time kelce missed a chiefs game, they beat a desperate steelers team 36-10 and mahomes went 23-of-30 for 260 yards and three TDs completing passes to such names as Byron Pringle, Derrick Gore, Mecole Hardman, Darrel Williams, Demarcus Robinson and Blake Bell. The show goes on.

  7. long term, the bills will be better off if the chiefs sign the massive jones contract imo. next year, kc is going to dump MVS and then will have the cheapest WR group in the league. if justyn ross becomes the real deal - and it seems he might - and if rashee rice is the real deal - and it seems he might be - the kc receiving corps is going to be young/cheap for a very long time. they're about to keep seven WRs and probably will have at least one signed away.

getting rid of jones will get them more picks (9 of 10 made the roster last year, 7 of 7 will make the roster this year), tons of cap flexibility etc.

  8. I've purchased Super Bowl tickets twice from OnLocation. They are an official NFL partner. They do everything very well. Not sure how it works with regular season pregame stuff, if it's a flat rate or if it's market dependent, but for the Super Bowl, their prices would fluctuate (mostly down) each day leading up to the Super Bowl until it eventually begins to go back up as supply gets limited. I know some teams offer pre-game tours prior to kickoff (usually between 2-3 hours) and you can walk on the field during warmups. The cost for that is usually close to $500 per person though it used to be much cheaper.

I hope this is all true.  However, Toney only playing about 10 snaps a game after the trade it seems like that's a stretch.

    Sky Moore I can see.

without the benefit of a full offseason leadup, it's always an extreme challenge for any midseason signing to perform immediately in reid's offense historically. moore picked up the offense very slowly per reports. him and toney were primarily used in specific packages, and were not featured.

  10. chiefs beat writer jesse newell of the kc star doesn't believe the chiefs will sign hopkins, per a recent podcast. believes the chiefs did their due diligence earlier in the offseason and moved in a different direction. among the reasons:

    1) the chiefs drafted a WR (rashee rice) early. this signaled the chiefs were moving on from hopkins

    2) the chiefs believe in toney as a future star and think skyy moore will take another step forward.

    3) the chiefs would have to borrow against their future, and veach typically hasn't wanted to do that.

    4) the chiefs don't want to stunt the growth of their younger WRs in favor of an expensive vet who is likely on the downside of career.

he also noted the chiefs wr's this year are likely better than last year. juju was out or injured for the majority of the year; toney missed time with lingering injuries; skyy moore didn't know the offense well and had a very limited role; mecole harman missed essentially the entire season. and yet, the chiefs offense was still essentially the #1 offense in the league and mahomes was the mvp. the chiefs believe moore takes a step forward and rice can contribute right away, with some potential diamonds in the rough on the roster (the two rosses).

To be clear my main point was that during the playoffs the Bills supposedly "better" defense played poorly in 6 of the 8 Allen era playoff games.  IMO the defense led directly to BOTH KC losses in the playoffs preventing the Bills from reaching the SB both years and almost blew the Colts game in 2020.

The only playoff game where the D played a pivotal, winning role was against Baltimore.

The Chiefs D has not been as damaging to Mahomes playoff career as the Bills D has been to Allen's.  Great playoff defense by the Bills likely would have meant TWO SB trips by the Bills in the last 3 seasons.

It isn't.  It was an attempt to explain why the Bills D ranked so highly during the regular season and failed so often in the playoffs.  My main point was to counter the idea that the Bills D gave Allen an advantage over Mahomes whose Chiefs had a weaker regular season D.  The truth is that by any standard the Bills D has played very poorly in the playoffs likely taking 1 or 2 SB trips away from Allen & the Bills.

Fair enough, although the notion that KC's defense has been a playoff world beater seems rather misguided.

The year KC won its first Super Bowl, the D gave up an instant 24 points to the Texans in the Divisional round and the Chiefs were in a 24-0 hole. The offense bailed them out in a major way.

The next year, Tampa went wild on KC's defense in the Super Bowl and put the game out of reach early.

KC's D didn't really slow Buffalo in the 42-36 Divisional game two years ago. They went punch-for-punch till the end and won the OT coin toss. The offense won the game (including the 13-seconds theatrics.)

A week later, the AFC championship game loss to the Bengals, a major storyline was KC failing to sack Burrow a single time.

Last year, the Eagles ran up and down the field (literally) for 400+ yards and 35 pts vs KC's defense. The offense bailed them out in a major way.

This is a great example of where stats can be very misleading.  The Bills have had a very good & consistent regular season defense that mostly padded its stats at the expense of bad QB's and weak offenses. In contrast the Defense has mostly struggled against good offenses in the regular season and particularly in the playoffs.

IMO the KC defense is designed to compliment their offense.  It isn't built to shut teams down on the stat line but to force 3 & outs and TO's that give the potent Chiefs O more possessions.

There is only one playoff game in the last 4 years that the defense could be said to have won the game and that was against Baltimore.  In every other game except NE, and the O gets the credit for that win, the D has played poorly.  This is 6 out of 8 playoff games which is startling given how well the D plays in the regular season.

the stats i provided are schedule adjusted, meaning buffalo's performance against supposed inferior competition is factored in. in other words, allowing 30 pts and 400 yards vs the chiefs offense is not treated the same as if you allow 30 pts and 400 yards vs the zack wilson jets. one is clearly a far worse outing than the other when adjusted for opponent strength.

Notice how the folks so quick to declare Mahoomes better then Allen because he won this last Super Bowl with skill players just a bit more talented then Allen's ignore the Chiefs MUCH BETTER offensive line.

When I look at Mahomes versus Allen there are only 2 things I can say with certainty:

    1) They are both elite and among the top 3 QB's in the NFL and both will be in the HOF if they maintain this level of play for another decade.

    2)  Mahomes has achieved more then Allen primarily due to significant advantages in the offensive personnel surrounding him over the last 5 years.

Josh Allen's defenses (per FootballOutsiders DVOA):

4th, 1st, 12th, 7th, 2nd. Cumulatively, that's the best defense in the league over the last five years.

    Mahome's defenses:

    17th, 24th, 22nd, 14th, 27th.

The Chiefs have had better overall offensive talent, and better coaching on offense. But Mahomes' margin for error has been significantly less because KC's defense has been mostly trash for his entire tenure. That being said, KC's defense on paper looks to be the best of the Mahomes era in 2023.
