I’d love to see that but I don’t think the narrative would change. They’d make a bunch of excuses for Kermit.

Let them make all the excuses they want.  I certainly can see Mahomes laying an egg.  I don't get the sense he's as competitive in nature as Josh is.  And I think as a team the Bills will show they want it more and don't think KC will keep up.

He has to beat Mahomes this weekend for some people.

He still has his detractors.  Those detractors no longer doubt his talent/ability, but now doubt his consistency…

ie., they know Mahomes will show up Sunday Night.  Are unsure if Allen will.

The way I see it is which Mahomes will show up.  I'm not worried about Josh showing up.  I think he's just embraced having ice in his veins and that's letting him play with a calm steadiness that's helping him play perfect games.  Not generally a football stat like baseball has no-hitters for top pitchers, Josh is creating the football version of no punting no turnovers.

I've posted many times they should be in win now mode just like the Rams.  That said, any season that ends with a Division title and a playoff win has to be considered a success.  I've posted a few times that the season was not necessarily enjoyable.  But that was born of frustration of inexplicable periods of bad play and the constant background issues of COVID this year.  Any wins after beating the Patriots will only add to a good season and each win will make it even better.  Madden always said all but one playoff team ends their season with a loss.  They are not losers. They just lost a playoff game.  Hope this is our year.  Hope a resurgent DL and OL along with superstar play from JA is enough to bring home a title.

Yes there were some ugly games but the Bills are showing us what they learned from this seasons ups and downs.  Only 1 game into playoffs and they are letting everyone see this is a team you gotta outplay and good luck with that.

Brady… We embarrassed Belichick finally after 2 decades, next week avenge last year’s AFC Championship, the week after avenge the Music City Miracle. Then, send Brady to retirement. The perfect playoff scenario to me now.

Bills have embarrassed Belicheck during the drought it was just obviously fluke bounces though.  JA17 and this team including coaches gm owners have finally succeeded in getting the better talent to where it takes those flukes for Belicheck to win.  This year he got the wind and gave NE fans false hope.  It's gonna be that way until they have a new franchise QB.  How far will Jones develop we shall see but I don't worry he'll overtake the Josh Allen advantage.  It's a great future for Bills fans and I can also see JA17 being a good mentor for when he's ready to call it a HòF career.

IDK he got coaching experience, was (almost) unanimously viewed as having done a good job with a bad situation, and got his name out there.

I think he got out of that mess looking pretty good.

Hope he got a decent contract that he will get paid several years without

    having to do anything.

    Fromm is looking good…just kidding

he would be mad to stay… someone will take a chance on him… he can always come back if that doesn’t work out…

He also has first hand experience being in a lockerroom that was not even trying to develop him and with the bills he sees the difference and if he can find a spot with that and they offer to sign him great, but if he only gets offers from unsettled coaching staffs he may feel it's better to keep developing while earning a fair buck and not taking the punishment of a starting QB. You can earn a good living via longevity as well as if you get to be the starter.  I have no idea where Trubisky's priorities lean I think signing with Buffalo indicates he felt he needed to learn some things and he may be happy to keep learning a year or two more.  It's not like he was complete garbage in Chicago.

After last Sunday I'll be going every year. Why it took me this long is beyond stupid. Euphoria is the right word.

Well think of it as you spared yourself the heartaches if you had been at some of the drought heartbreakers.... and there have been plenty.  You may have even thought you attending was a jinx (and convinced yourself to not attend any important games).

Now that we have a good team that's really fun to watch you'll be at games that will be deciding playoff seedings for however long this current winning era continues.  Maybe they won this game because you made the trip.

As I was looking at playoff matchups, it dawned on me that the Bills can exorcise a lot of demons on their way to the super bowl this year.

Round 1: Patriots and BB - 20 years of being the afterthought, so many years of domination, can be put to bed with a win against NE.

Round 2: KC Chiefs - last year was the most fun I have had as a Bills fan since I was a kid.  It ended being unceremoniously dumped in the AFCCG.  Yeah they won early this year but that was about as useful as when the Bills would beat the team they lost to in the SB the following year.

Round 3: Titans - the last 2 years the Titans have had the Bills number.  They were so close earlier this year and they will have a chance to finish the job again in Nashville.

    Super Bowl:

    Bucs - Brady

    or

Cowboys - back to back super bowl losses

Gonna be a fun ride to our first super bowl!!!

     Add

Green Bay  -  shoulda been SB1 Green Bay vs Buffalo with Bills winning the first SB.

I remember when RBs had trade value.  When we traded away a used-up Simpson in 1978, we got:

1978 2nd round draft pick (DE Scott Hutchinson)

1978 3rd round pick (WR Danny Fulton)

1979 1st round pick (LB Tom Cousineau)

1979 4th round pick (DE Ken Johnson)  (aka Pinto Ron)

1980 2nd round pick (RB Joe Cribbs)

What a great trade for the Bills!  Joe Cribbs was a really talented multipurpose back for us.  And, of course, Cousineau turned into Jim Kelly.

Obviously, there's a durability issue but it's amazing you could potentially get someone of McCaffrey's talent for a 2nd rounder.  Though I wouldn't want his contract.

Also Cribbs was part of the 3 team trade that got Cornelius Bennett to Bills.  If memory serves wasn't Erik dickerson part of the trade as well?  I'll have to google it as I'm just going on memory and that's some 30 odd yes ago for exact details.

My bad it was rb Greg bell not Cribbs in the Bennett trade, but I did get Erik dickerson as part of the trade right Colts got him from rams.

Of course, I agree with you but it is kind of like saying, if we score more TDs than the opposition we will win. Not quite but it is kind of similar.....

and yes, of course, we will have to be good in the red-zone, we will have to be good everywhere.....limit mistakes.

    Go Bills!

If we score more points we will win.  They could score 1 td nothing else and lose to 3 fgs.  Yes I want them to have good success in the red zone by not settling for fgs, but also know when it is better to take the sure 3 points and make the opponent press to keep up.

I always thought that State Farm is missing the perfect marketing campaign if they used Josh Allen instead of Rodgers or Mahommes.  Those two only seem to want to be sure they get their 'special rates'.   Josh would have more class and just explain he lives in the City of Good Neighbors and knows how well that works and challenge State Farm to live up to the level of WNYers who are always there for good causes.  Maybe State Farm just doesn't match up well compared to real Good Neighbors.

I agree also that the USAA ads with Gronk miss the mark with poor attempt at humor.  It misses the mark as This multi-millionaire tries to get the rates that veterans have earned by serving the country instead of playing a game.  I'm a veteran and I dislike the USAA commercials with Gronk but I think know he's a big jerk anyway and I myself would rather he not try to associate himself with WNY because I  have yet to see him conduct himself in any way that exemplifies what I expect from any true WNYers.  Just cause he grew up here it doesn't seem he's got WNY values.

You, my friend, never lived thru the Shula and Marino years.  If you did, you'd understand the animosity that many have against the fish.

For me, it's the Jets that have the least animosity... they are an excellent foil of the Patriots* and haven't accomplished much of anything since Super Bowl III.

You're mixing up eras the Miami Buffalo rivalry was sparked over the Shula 70's.  Once Marino joined the dolphins his record against Buffalo is only 13-17.  Marino had no running game much like Allen so he never dominated the Bills.

I can guarantee you from a lifetime of sailing/boating and hunting, forecasting wind a week out is virtually impossible with regard to speed/gusts.

General wind direction maybe, temps within 10 degrees probably, but thats it.  The rest is meaningless guessing at this point.

Also the wind at Highmark has that swirling effect due to how the stadium was built.   Be interesting to see how they draw up plans for the new stadium if it ends up being in OP and if they factor best way to maybe minimize the winds effect on games played at the new stadium.  In any event the same swirling wind effect doesn't travel with the team so the weather and wind factor may play out quite differently.

Bring in the RB from the practice squad.  I'll bet he's ready to plow through some mini holes.  We all agree that Ford blows.  Cut him.  Put in somebody with attitude and anger.  This whole team needs to play angry.

Side note:  Wyatt Teller was pick #166 in the 2018 draft.  If his talent was that obvious, he wouldn't have lasted that long.  They saw him as a tradable asset, and he was part of the formula that got us Josh.  Cleveland probably has a better OL coach.

You are thinking of Corey Glenn helping us get the draft pick used for Josh.  Wyatt Teller was drafted the same year we drafted Allen.

Well not to be too much of  a spelling checker and a polish spelling checker to boot, but the pronunciation of ka-czar-check can not be in anyway correct in that there is no 'a' in the early spelling of ksiezarczyk to have a ka sound to begin it. If the pronunciation is given by the actual player then its just an English deviated pronunciation.  Polish is pronounced as it is spelled no off the wall silent letters like English has the silent e.   It's perfectly acceptable to use the posted ka-czar-check but only if it was stated to be that pronunciation by the actual player.

The actual correct polish pronunciation would start with the k blending with the sie which is a polish word by itself.  Jak sie masz?  Sie is pronounced as che as in the word chef without the f. So kche-czar-check would be the proper Polish pronunciation not ka-czar-check.

Barring hearing the ka-czar-check pronunciation from the players own lips that ka-czar-check is incorrect.  I will always use the correct Polish pronunciation over the anglicized versions of Polish names.

Just needed to correct that claim for correct pronunciation as it cannot be, other than an anglicized version,  which is acceptable if offered up by the actual person with the surname in question.

What I took away from this, and I only read OPs quotes, is that Allen was trying to make too many big plays. Which honestly seems like his m.o.

He has been learning to go with what the Defense gives him, he just need to do it more often.

I really feel, had he hit those shorter passes,  they could have extended more drives, took more time off the clock and so on.

I have no doubt that this game will help him even more in making that adjustment, taking what is given and not trying to force it.

The big thing Josh is gonna learn is if he takes the short stuff the defenses will have to adjust and once they have to defend the whole field Josh will get his splash plays as he picks them apart short and long.

It the play in question is the one I remember, it is a valid penalty.  Sure, the hit (more of a shove) wasn't hard at all, but it was late and 100% unnecessary.

It's not about things being "soft" now, it's about getting players out of the mindset of going for unnecessary/late hits.  A lot of these guys have spent their entire football careers getting to act like thugs, and will test the limits of what they can get away with if you don't draw the line and hold them to it.  Unfortunately this leads to a lot of "weak" roughing penalties that old school football fans will whine about, but it is necessary.

Now I admit some refs take it too far and call penalties on valid hits, but a late shove on a QB seemingly to bully or intimidate them is a penalty.  I would rather see them reclassify that play to something like unsportsmanlike conduct rather than roughing the passer.

Yea because they essentially are weakening the protection to qbs by weak call like this compared to say oh diving for a QBs knees when he has clearly already thrown the ball and is no longer allowed to be hit.  Ala an elbow to the knee of Losman and causing a serious injury.

I don't remember the hit to Losman if it was a late hit it was so clearly a dirty hit from my viewpoint in that he seemed to target the knee and could have avoideid it easily.   I'd have to go watch the play again today to see if my memory is accurate or if the dislike for patriots is blurring the play to fit my natural bias as a Bills fan.

He was pushed into murray by 73

From my viewpoint he was pushed but that too was without enough force to send him off balance.  He certainly had enough control he had no risk of injury to himself and likewise the injury factor to Murray was low.  I didn't watch entire game so no clue if there were any borderline hits earlier between that flagged player and Murray.  If it was chippy since the first snap then they may have decided to call any little thing.

  19. 16 minutes ago, Hapless Bills Fan said:

Goodness, that call was bad!  Everything else notwithstanding, the Cardinals OLman pushed him into Murray

But not with enough force that he was out of control. He had enough control he could have pulled up  and not contacted Murray, at all he just decided he got shoved so he'd try to sell he was pushed into Murray.

The problem gets to when a player decides well I'm gonna at least give a hit that hurts the opponent that justifies the flag and fine that it will incur.  We all know there are literally some players that are outright thugs.  That's not even accounting for the injuries that naturally will occur with such a violent fast sport.  And the stress some of these players put on their bodies training results in some of those serious non contact  injuries.  So trying to protect their product they will control what they can get away with without losing fans.
