  1. As for media drevil lemmie see here: Right now on TV there's some crime drama on NBC. Basketball's on CBS while Fox has on America's Most Armed and Dangerous. ABC is gearing up for their POPE special while PBS does have an interesting point about the assassination of Arch Bishop Romero in El Salvador By US trained Death Squads (School Of AMERICAS Fort Bening GA), and Pope John Pauls outrage concerning our Latin American policy. Radio in WNY is crap. Anyone who lives here can tell you that. The Buffalo News is crap, anyone liberal or conservative can tell you that. Ah drevil......so many options so little time.
  2. Sometimes you find help in the unlikeliest of places: http://www.schlumberger.com/news/story.cfm?storyid=626387 Haven't these people yet learned that ANWAR drilling will solve all our problems?
  3. Absolutely! Best topic brought up here in awhile outside the usual Conservative Republican right wing mantra of "guns and taxes"! Of course when I bring up issues of the media I'm called "whacked", "liberal", and that is if people are even paying attention. I was bringing up articles over a year ago concerning the FCC and media consolidation, which is more intrinsic to "freedom" than any "guns and taxes" issue could ever hope to be. I hope someone else responds to your important thread.
  4. My point is, and I wish you'd explain to me how this is "whacked" (whatever the hell that means. ghetto argot circa 1989), is that the representatives of the radical evangelical Right in this country wants it both ways. They want to sell and make a profit off of our pop culture climate of promiscuityand harmful objectification.....yet they went to tell every citizen what is spiritually right for them.
  5. Oh yeah by the way John Adams I'm the father of an 8 year old daughter so I cannot dismiss your concerns because I share some of them as well. I'm just concerned with the theocratic elements poking into issues that are more or less a matter of personal choice. I'm hoping you can agree.
  6. Stressing "abstinence" in sex education is just setting up kids for sexual neurosis later on down the line. To deny a person's "sexuality" (particularly a womens) is weird and isn't much different from living in a one of those Islamic states we purportedly went to war for. But that in a nutshell is the weird dichotomy of the right these days; do we spread our "sexual" culture and "freedom" abroad for fun a nd profit...... ....or..... ...do we wipe out any vestiges of Janet Jackson's saggy boob at home. Why can't the Right have both?
  7. Oh for goodness sakes ARE YOU SERIOUS? I thought Alaska Darin has said some pretty dumb things my short time back but this takes the cake. The Catholic Church (and by extension the Pope) has butted its head in nearly everything, probably since the church was invented. That's just a glaring fact I can't believe anyone could ignore. Religion, any damn religion, IS POLITICS!
  8. I was referring more to this country rather than a different continent. Besides, and this is so obvious that even someone such as yourself should have known better before posting, the issue in Africa is far more socio-economic than sexually charged. How you can compare the two is fundementally handicapped.

  10. Do DeLay's recent radical comments concerning the impeachment of certain judges constitute a Federal crime? In light of the recent gunning down of an Illinois judge's folks, and a state judge in Georgia, NJ Sen Laughtenburg seems to think so. "Our nation’s judges must be concerned for their safety and security when they are asked to make difficult decisions every day. That’s why comments like those you made are not only irresponsible, but downright dangerous. To make matters worse, is it appropriate to make threats directed at specific federal and state judges? You should be aware that your comments yesterday may violate a federal criminal statute, 18 U.S.C. Sec. 115 (a)(1)(B). That law states: "'Whoever threatens to assault…. or murder, a United States judge… with intent to retaliate against such… judge…. on account of the performance of official duties, shall be punished [by up to six years in prison].'
  11. Hey Durwood I knew I could coax you out with some bread crumbs. Btw I love your recent thread where you cited the whole downfall of WNY by the closing of some cheezy-ass prew pub in suburban Rah-cha-cha! Give that man subpoena power!
  12. Yup that's part of the Cheney energy program. They are also taking away tax credits for buying hybrids, but leaving them for buying a vehicle as useless and wasteful as a Hummer. Rule of thumb with Bush policy: anything Dick Cheney is involved with is bound to be an idiotic disaster. Well I hope you wingers are happy. You finally killed the good bishop. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050330/1037154.asp
  13. Who do you think told the Bishop about this board to begin with? We're practically neighbors and have season tix together. Anyways I hadn't been on here for awhile. I think I was suspended but by that time it didn't really matter since my father was stuck down at the Cleveland Clinic going through a quad by-pass and my mom got into a serious accident while visiting him. Anyway I told the Good Bishop about this board (and I expressly told him not to use any monicker that might seem offensive religiously) he checked it out and said "awright"! "This is like shooting fish in a barrel". Obviously he did too good a job of shooting the fish cuz I get this e-mail today telling me he can't log back on to this site. I asked him what reasons they gave and he said "none". Maybe he was arguing too well about government intervention in a private family issue. I dunno, this whole Schiavo thing is ridiculous anyways. And don't worry about me spending anymore appreciable time here. I'm done.
  14. I wouldn't worry about the good Bishop. Someone didn't like what he was saying (most likely Durwood since the Bishop seemed to have his number) and pulled the plug, though I don't recall him using profanity the brief time he was on here. He was probably making too much sense for the radical right fringe to take. Can you believe they pulled the Bishop's plug? ON EASTER YET!
