  1. This whole idea that Pegula should be front and center providing very detailed information about the Bills ongoing plan to the media and fans is just absolutely ludicrous. There is absolutely no logical reason for him to do that and if he did it would give the competition an insight into what they are doing. I sure hope he doesn't. The silence is good. Keep your plan to yourself and execute it masterfully.

  2. Hiring Schwartz right away would be a knee jerk reaction. Marrone leaving isn't the end of the world. As of now we don't know what really went on. The details will emerge over the next several days. My hope is that Pegula leads over the next couple of weeks or so and the Bills proceed as if they just bought the team and fired the coach. Look for a Football Czar to act as a consultant and get him on board. Compile a list of HC candidates and start interviewing. Complete the interviews in the next few weeks, depending on if any candidates are in the playoffs or on bowl teams. Pick the best one and let's move forward. What I hope they don't do is read the internet, listen to all the sports media buffoons and panic. This should play out the same as if they had fired Marrone.

  3. Shocked to say the least. When someone decides to leave make sure to close the door fast enough that they can't change their mind. It's not about what the Bills lost, it's about what they get to do now and that is to pick a better coach. We'll just see if they do.

What a year for the Bills. This is exciting stuff! Can't wait to see how all the changes at One Bills Drive take shape!

  4. Ahhhh more of that huh. The Sabres seem to be pretty talented already regarding youth in the system, what they lack is current talent. One more year of stocking the pond with youth while suffering with the current team, then what 3 more years before the youth starts paying dividends? I'm not getting any younger ;)

What the Sabres lack is top line talent in the prospect pool. With the lack of current talent and with the chance to pick the next Crosby, tanking is the most logical course.

  5. I wouldn't mind seeing Polian come back in some advisory capacity but not as GM. Shift Brandon back to the business/marketing side and let Polian Whaley Marrone run the football side. Another year to see what happens with the QB and OL situation and if the Bills make the playoffs. If they don't make the playoffs next year, Polian should clean house and start over.

  6. I want Marrone gone. He was very snarky in that press conference where I feel the reporters were being very soft with the questions.

He acted as if he couldn't believe he was being questioned on his coaching. As if everything was going smoothly when we all saw the most pathetic offense ever by a Bills team.

I hope he leaves. I'm totally fine with Jim Schwartz taking the reigns over. Give Pepper Johnson the DC job and hire Trestman to bring in a much needed real NFL offense to the Bills.

Ever watch a Bellichick presser? I'm not sure it is a good idea to fire a coach because of the way he acts or doesn't act in a presser.

  7. We need to acknowledge the Bills did attempt to address the offensive line last off season. They drafted 3 lineman, retained most of their players from '13, and signed free agent guard Chris Williams, a guy nobody else had at the top of their list. The problem is their effort, with the exception of Henderson, was a failure.

But let's suppose the Bills 'fix' the offensive line this off season, sign a couple of prominet free agent lineman and draft a couple players too. And they have a good/great offensive line. We can agree they don't need an all-pro QB but the problem is whomever they go into the 2015 season with has got to display a minimum level of NFL competency. EJ has not shown that competency with any consistency and unless the team believes he can or has improved to that level no option at QB should be off the table.

Its not a choice of fixing one or the other but rather both the line and the QB need to be addressed together this off season and the best possible option at QB needs to be found. If that's EJ then that's what we need to do.

The Bills should be able to fix the OL this off season. Either through FA, improvement of last years draftees or someone from this years draft. I would prefer through FA but just as long as it is fixed. I'm not sure who they get for QB this offseason. They'll need to hit lightning in a bottle or we may be looking at year 16 without playoffs if EJ and Tuel are the best options even if the OL is fixed.

  8. What has EJ done that leads his supporters to believe he can be an NFL QB? No pocket presence, can't read defenses more than half the field at a time, appeared to be afraid to run (maybe his best asset) this year (another Trent?), and worst of all highly inaccurate. Outside of reading defenses the rest of those may not be able to be learned/unlearned. I don't think the Bills cut him outright but I can't see them going into next season as anything other than the backup and hopefully as only the developmental backup. Is he still eligible for the practice squad?

  9. JD, you are the one who went into a critique that he did not want to discuss adnauseum the press conference. I said a I agreed 100%, that press conference was absolutely useless. If you can give me one useful piece of information from that 30 minutes of OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW , I Would evaluate and keep it on questions about the last thread.

How was he wrong on saying that press conference was useless and why address anything said in it.

Schopp the dope's major problem with the press conference is that Marrone doesn't talk the way Schopp would like him to. Secondary to that was what Whaley and Marrone said or didn't say. It's a sports franchise news conference what do you expect? Ever hear Bellichik, or Ryan or any other coach's press conference? Why should they say anything of substance? Schopp the dope did not accurately reflect what they did say during his monologe after the press conference. It was one of the worst broadcasts I've heard them do and that is saying something. If there was any other Buffalo sports station available during my drive home I would listen to it but so far I haven't been able to find one. We're stuck with the blithering and the idiot.

  10. At best EJ should be the third string, developmental QB on the team next year. If the Bills don't find option 1 & 1A through FA and/or the draft the Bills are probably looking at a 16th straight year out of the playoffs. EJs performance would have to do a complete 180 in order for him to even be competent as an NFL QB. He just hasn't shown the skills or abilities to lead one to believe that he can be an NFL QB. Given Orton's retirement I'm fairly certain the Bills won't cut him and he'll have a chance to win the job next season but the Bills simply have to come up with two QBs that are way ahead of where Manuel is if they hope to compete for a playoff spot.

  11. At this point Beckham and this years first > Watkins and no first this year. This year's first could have been used in multiple ways to get a better QB. It will take a couple of years to really tell if Watkins was worth it, but at this point he certainly wasn't. Not because he isn't a good player but because of the many needs the Bills have.

  12. I think Woods is serviceable if they replace the guards. The guards are so poor their play affected Glenn and Woods as they tried to cover for them. If I'm the Bills, I find replacements for both guard positions and a good backup to play center and guard and see what happens next year. It's be tough to replace 2 guards and center in one offseason.

  13. recently benched, sucks for 9 straight years, can't read a defense, weak arm, a Cleveland Brown reject, never proved anything, career life 3rd stringer, too old, dink and dunk artists, game managers, head cases, sucked in preseason, can't run, runs too much, no pocket presence, injury prone, was beat out by a below average quarterback, was on Mel Kipers undrafted rookie list, fat, too smart, too dumb, cocky but sucks, hates dogs, over priced and a big ass loser???

Why are we looking at these guys ? I thought the object was to win MORE GAMES not less

By the way, what ever happened to John Skelton, he has a REAL STRONG ARM :nana:

    --

Because even with all of those warts you just listed they might be better than the Orton and most of them are definitely better than Manuel.

  14. How does a coach not know one of the starters is not playing?!? I just don't get it. A good coach just knows who is on the field and who isn't at all times. He doesn't count the players every play. He just knows.

If I was the owner (and yes I know I'm not :-), this would kind of be the last straw and he would be gone after the season. This shows that he is not able to manage a game to the level that is required to win. Cut ties with him now and move on. I'd take my chances with someone else.

  15. The question is, was Watkins worth a 1st and a fourth more than Evans or Beckham. Will the Bills be better with Watkins or with Evans/Beckham and another 1st rounder in the fold. Right now the answer is no and the trade was a mistake. However one season of results is not enough to really judge. My own opinion is that the trade was a mistake. That trade is only made when you have a QB in place. The Bills didn't, don't and probably won't have for the next 2-3 years. The trade may have set the Bills back 2-4 years in reaching the playoffs and very likely could cost Whaley and Marrone their jobs. Assuming Whaley still has a job it depends on what Whaley does next in attempting to procure a QB that has the possibility of being at least slightly above average during the off season. Orton and Manuel don't seem to be that QB.
