  1. They just held the Raiders to 98 total yards of offense! That's incredible defense right there. I know the Raiders are only 2-5 but still....
  2. Is Gabe even healthy enough to play right now?
  3. With you 100%. If we lose to the Andy Dalton led Carolina Panthers, the season is over and things need to be blown up from the top to the bottom. That will be as rock bottom as we've seen the team since the drought era.
  4. What does Buffalo do if Palmer is out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. All of a sudden our glaring need for more talent at WR, especially on the boundary, is magnified.
  5. I agree with most of this but let's be honest, Buffalo is NOT guaranteed to make the playoffs. Maybe they turn it around like they did last year after the embarrassing losses to the Ravens and Texans, but maybe they don't. I just don't see the assets necessary to bring in a wr or a cb/safety to help boost the talent level at spots of glaring need right now. The defense can't even wrap guys up and make routine tackles right now. The hallmark of a McDermott defense, scheme over talent, everyone acting as a unit and doing their job, and absolutely taking care of the basics like flying to the ball carrier and making the tackle....these things are are just not there right now and I don't know if the team has it in them to flip a switch and get it back on track. We'll know a lot more about the trajectory of the season in two weeks with a gut check game at the all of a sudden surging Carolina Panthers. Lose that game and things will get ugly real quick....
  6. agree with this 100%. unfortunately it's a little hard to do that when a team is up against the cap like the Bills are. But people like to say the cap isn't real and can always be manipulated, so maybe??
  7. Some people will defend Allen as if he pays their mortgage. He is a great QB and we are lucky to have him. But he makes mistakes sometimes and he does seem to have a proclivity for making them in high leverage moments. Love him to death and he isn't the only reason for the loss. But he definitely was a big contributor last night.
  8. Josh Allen played a poor game. He didn't make great decisions in high leverage moments last night. It happens. I fully expect him to bounce back next week. Even the greats have bad games from time to time. No one is saying Buffalo lost the game because Allen didn't play well. He is not the only reason for the loss. But people need to grow a bit thicker skin when it comes to Allen. He isn't perfect and he does make mistakes like everyone else does.
  9. I don't have access to the ALL-22 film and I'm not going to go back and re-watch the entire game again just to give you examples. I know what I saw from watching with my own eyes. Collinsworth mentioned on 3 or 4 occasions that Allen seemed to be bailing from clean pockets, and Joe Marino who does have access to all-22 made mention of it several times on his podcast this morning. It's okay to admit Allen didn't play up to his standards. I would expect him to say the same thing if asked.
  10. People who criticize Allen for having an off night are no different from people saying Allen can do no wrong. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Allen had some really nice throws last night and extended some plays and kept drives alive with his legs. I don't think his recovers did him a lot of favors either. However, he bailed from clean pockets several times, threw the bad red zone interception, and clearly made the wrong decision to keep the ball on the read option that surly looks like would have been a walk in TD for Johnson. By Allen's standards, he had a sub par night and I think the film is going to support that as well.
  11. Most Definitely not a good game overall by Allen and well below his standard. I think the film will show that as well. At least to me, it almost seems like he is so used to his receivers not gaining any separation once he gets to the top of his drop, he knows he most likely will have to hold the ball and wait for someone to 'get open'. He had happy feet last night and bailed way too early multiple times. Poor play by Allen but I get it. No one is getting open off the line and he's having to buy time for any little bit of separation and he's pressing because of that and bailing early. I think Allen has to shoulder part of the blame from last night as do the receivers.
  12. The Panthers, as a team, averaged 5.64 yards per carry against New England which is a GREAT rushing average. Some context here will help. The Panthers were down by multiple scores at halftime and largely abandoned the run in the 2nd half. The Steelers had 53 rushing yards against the Jets, 72 against the Seahawks, 64 against the Patriots, and 131 against the Vikings. The ONLY team not to go over 100 rushing yards against the Vikings was the Bengals who fell into an early hole and was forced to abandoned the run early. That's all to say the Steelers do not have a good running game so far this season. A little context goes a long ways sometimes Any given Sunday applies to every game. Of course the Patriots could come into Buffalo Sunday night and walk away with a win. Absolutely they can. But this air of being overly confident right now after only being a play or two away from being 1-3 is baffling to me. I hope the entire team walks into Highmark with as much bravado as most of their fans seem to have right now. Humble pie is ready to be served piping hot!
