  1. Serious question with the Bengals 9 days away:

Plan A would be Josh Freeman - if his head is screwed on straight.

THat said, I'm considering it a given that we will not pass the ball effectively that day. Tuel is a marginal talent with no arm strength to speak of, and 9 days is not enough time for an outsider to effectively assimilate into the offense.

Wouldn't the FO consider signing Tebow and giving him a limited package with a plan of running fifty times against Cincinnati and winning a defensive struggle?

I am not a Tebow supporter, recognize that he will never pass the ball effectively, and do not consider him a helpful longterm backup. I'm saying that if you are signing a guy off the street to try to make your team competitive for 1-2 weeks, wouldn't you consider it?

NO. TEBOW IS NOT AN NFL QB FOR THE LAST TIME! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, LET IT GO!

  2. Bottom line is this team has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory three times in five games so far and has the all the depth of a hollywood starlet. Injuries have ravaged this team (again) and the front office continues to play cheap. The way this team is run, it's not enough to be talented, you have to be perfect because the front office leaves the players and coaches NO room for error.

I am having fun watching the team each week, they're young and exciting and are playing their hearts out. It's just too bad OBD won't help out their own cause. My biggest fear is that we waste Pettine's brilliance on defense. He's here for 2 seasons, tops, before he's gone as a HC somewhere else. Hackett has not impressed me. So, despite being young and on the rise, there seems to be a very limited window for the team to find success... and we're already 3 games in the hole.

The good news is that the Dolphins and Jets are not as good as we thought they might be heading into the season, the *Pats are still the *Pats, but 8 or 9 wins isn't out of the realm of possibility still for this team... if OBD gets off their ass of course. If we start Tuel next week we will know full well how little the front office cares about winning.

  3. Lost

    Prison Break

    Sons of Anarchy

    Dexter

    Ray Donavan

    Homeland

    Game of Thrones

Three of those were based on existing properties -- two were even based on existing shows -- giving them a shorter learning curve. More to the point, all of those shows are cable but for LOST. Completely different ball game when it comes to development and execution.

  4. Key phrase. "Unintended consequences," be they good are bad, are the result of a half-assed policy.

It's not about credit. It's about the fact that the foreign policy of this administration (and not just on Syria) here is incoherent ****-ass "policy" of being "tough" without being at all responsible for your actions or lack thereof. A policy of "bloviate and pass the buck" is not a sound policy.

And if Obama had said !@#$k off to the Russian offer and lobbed a bunch of cruise missiles into Damascus for five days, what would you be saying about his policy then?

  5.

How about not making the threat to begin with?

Ever heard the term "don't write a cheque your ass can't cash".

Without the threat of force, no deal would even be considered.... Sometimes unintended consequences work in your favoror. Or would you prefer the US stand down and say nothing when chemical weapons are deployed? We've done that before too, didn't solve the problem and eventually led us into an invasion of Iraq that we are going to be paying for long after our children's children are dead.

  6. This is far from over and even if you get the results you want the road taken there could be disastrous or lead to future disasters.

And bombing the **** out of a country to prove a point to Russia and the world has neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr lead this country down a road toward future disasters.

Point being nothing was "handled". The administration flailed around aimlessly and cluelessly until a deus ex Moskva came down and rescued them from their own stupidity.

Who cares who gets the credit if the threat is taken off the table? (big if there, I'll grant you).

  7. Not an update pre say, but a question...why did these aliens build structures under water? Is it possible they are more closely related to whales than us?

Just hypothesizing off your question, but if an alien species were to discover Earth why wouldn't they explore and/or colonize the oceans? Considering how much liquid water there is on the surface compared to dry land, it might be the most logical outcome of a visitation -- especially if they were trying to keep a low profile from the violent humans roaming the surface. Additionally, if they were looking to make contact with the intelligent species on our planet they might just make contact with whales and dolphins before humans. They're far less dangerous than us and it would mitigate the risks of first contact. Plus, chicks really dig dolphins so maybe aliens do too.

    Just meaningless ramblings...

  8. Now, if they say they recovered a flying saucer and an alien from a crash site then I'll take notice. Otherwise they're just admitting that they have a base...

They have admitted it. Several times.

It's backdoor disclosure. But until the cold war generation is dead, the truth will continue to dribble out... unless they offer pardons. Which won't happen.

  9. Yeah, I'm torn. Smith is good at WR, enough to be our 5-6th. He's a good ST player, and a veteran who seems like good influence on the rookies. But, I don't think he's passable as a QB at all. I think I'd rather have Kolb on the roster, but not dress, and not have Smith on the roster in favor of a WR who is likely to be a better, younger option with a little more experience.

If they keep Kolb, they'll lose Tuel to a poacher. There's little chance that Tuel makes it through waivers. On the other hand, if they keep Smith as a ST/WR/QB at the expense of Kolb, that would open up a WR spot for one of the young guys whereas if they kept all 3 QBs on the active roster it would mean one less WR for sure.

We'll see how it shakes out in a week I guess.

  10. Has Brad Smith taken any snaps at QB this year? Any? I don't think there's any way he's our emergency QB. If he happens to be on the team, I can see him playing if all other QBs get hurt during a game, but that's it.

Emergency 3. If they cut Kolb, they have more than enough time to get Smith up to speed as the backup's backup. If they lose EJ and Tuel/Kolb for long it won't much matter who's taking snaps back there so why waste a roster spot on a 3rd QB who can't play other positions when you have a guy like Smith who's versatile enough to play several -- including being a relief pitcher in a pinch.
