  1. As opposed to crucifying him for not winning the super bowl while sitting on his hands running it back? You can’t win without risk, he’s on the hot seat no matter what, so you might as go down swinging, and now is the time you throw those haymakers. As opposed to running it back and hoping the draft picks are enough to push us over the edge? What if we draft for 2 more years and we still haven’t won a super bowl? At some point you have to take a big swing.
  2. But at what point are you willing to give Beane to see if his ideas will win the Bills a SB? What harm is there to bringing Hopkins on board, isn’t this the time to make risky moves when you are like one major piece a way from winning a super bowl? We proved that we couldn’t outscore Cinci. They lost no major offensive weapon this offseason, so we need to do something on offense that will give us a a competitive advantage. I can’t think of any other reasonable scenario better than trading for Hopkins. Can you think of anything better at the moment?
  3. My main point was doing what it takes to land Hopkins or at the very least doing everything it takes to keep him out of KC. Yes, if KC was indeed willing to give a 3rd and eat salary, then yes we should offer a 2nd. It doesn’t sound like it would take that much, so no I wouldn’t support just giving then anything for the sake of anything. I just want to give them what it takes to land Hopkins. There are no other WRs out there that are reasonably had other than Hopkins. So it would be a big failure not being about to land him.
  4. What is miserable about want to win a super bowl, and accepting anything less as failure? The whole point of playing NFL football is to win a super bowl, that goes for any competition. I guess it means being miserable if you don’t recognize participation trophies.
  5. No Bills fan is going to care about paying off Hopkins salary even after he’s gone if it means we win a super bowl this year. Nobody.
  6. I’m fine with letting Beane do things his way, but so far his way hasn’t gotten us anywhere. How long do we wait? 2 more years? 5 more years? When does his strategic methods become accepted as a failure? For me a 7-9 team is the same thing as a 14-3 team that didn’t win a super bowl. See that’s where our ideological differences are. You accept 2nd and 3rd place as an accomplishment. If you want to be a fan of playoffs, then I can’t stop you.
  7. Being the owner of an NFL franchise is the easiest business ever. Imagine being in charge of a product that sells no matter how great it is.
  8. Well why should they when they have suckers for fans that will gladly eat a pile of poo like it’s a plate of the finest Italian risotto. Must be nice to be an owner that knows cash flow will always be there because of dopey fans that accept anything short of a super bowl victory.
  9. That’s not what I want, I just don’t want AZ to get mad with us and then decide they don’t want to deal with us or give him to another team. They ultimately control where Hopkins goes. We need Hopkins, we desperately need another offensive weapon to compete against KC/Cinci. Negotiating over picks or salary eating is stupid. I’m not saying to give whatever they want, but it sounds like what AZ is asking for isn’t totally outrageous. It just sounds like Beane is trying to nickel and dime when this situation doesn’t call for that. It’s his job to upgrade and just get on with it, even if that means compromising more than what he thinks is “fair” .
  10. LOL imagine getting mad at fans that want to win Super Bowls. Running it back is not a recipe for winning a super bowl when we proved the roster wasn’t good enough to beat Cinci when it mattered. We have to continue getting better, and so far no moves have been made that shows me we’ve upgraded past KC/Cinci. Hopkins is a defacto upgrade, and it proves to me we are trying to get better. As a fan, that’s all I can ask for, moves that show me you are trying to get better. So far, Beane has proven that we don’t deserve Josh Allen. We have barely done anything outside of Diggs to help him, it’s always been about what McD wants on defense. I honestly feel bad for him.
  11. What does that honestly mean? Would trading for Hopkins not be what is best for the team, even if it means doing restructures or moving on from other value pieces like Oliver? It’s about risk reward. It’s about providing our best asset (Josh Allen), with multiple weapons to get us a super bowl victory. I don’t see how running it back on offense is what’s best for the team. Explain how fielding a same offensive roster is better than trading for Hopkins if that means eating his salary.
  12. Well they should care what I think, because I’m the one giving them money for putting a “winning” product on the field. I’m paying them to win a super bowl, that’s it. If they can’t bring one in under Allen, then I’m likely done being a fan and giving them my money. If you guys want to be a fan of mediocrity, have fun with that. I lurked during the drought years, I refused to give Ralph money for being mediocre. Then the Pegula’s came along and I thought things have changed for the better, then we got Allen and I’ve been supportive ever since. My ultimatum with the Pegulas is a super bowl under Allen’s tenure. If they fail, I will be going back to lurking and not a paying fan until changes are made.
  13. LOL imagine thinking wanting to win a super bowl is such a “terrible” want for a Bills fan. Sue me, I want to win a super bowl. GM’s need to understand it doesn’t matter what they want. They work for the owners who ultimately have to work for the fans because the fans are what makes the NFL. It’s sad to see so many fans simp and accept just being entertained. Some fans don’t even care about winning a super bowl, they are just happy watching football. It’s one of the reasons why my passion for being a Bills fan is dwindling somewhat. For me it’s about winning a super bowl, and the Pegula’s have been pretty adamant about being an endless check writer. So I don’t blame ownership at all currently. Right now my blame lies solely on Beane for failing to win a super bowl. If Beane trades for Hopkins, it will dramatically shift my perceptions about him. It will show to me that he understands where the issues are and he’s doing everything he can to make it happen.
  14. Ultimately does it really matter if you buy it or not? Nothing we say or do on here matters one iota to management or to other fans. I’m just a sad Bills fan tired of losing and never winning a super bowl.
  15. Nope, I’ve said win one before I die since I’ve been a Bills fan. I mean it. Yeah it would be really nice to win multiple Super Bowls, but I just want to get the first one so we can stop obsessing over the failure. It will be a huge relief turning point for the fan base.
  16. But at least it indicates that they are trying everything they possibly can. It’s better than sitting on their hands and running it back. Running it back and failing again is way worse than gambling on an elite piece and failing again. I can accept the latter, but I will not accept the former.
  17. They won a super bowl. That is all that matters. Winning a super bowl. Nobody is going to care if we suck for 2 years after a super bowl, because we still have Josh Allen that we can eventually reload around. First thing is first winning a super bowl, you can’t win multiple Super Bowls if you don’t get the first one done. It doesn’t matter what matters to Beane, the only thing that matters is what matters to the fans. We pay for the show, and it’s about doing what the fans want. The NFL doesn’t exist without the fans. Beane needs to understand that. His job is to win a super bowl for the fans, no matter if Beane likes certain moves or not.
  18. This is my major fear. Something like that would be the last straw for me. I could never support Beane again if that were to happen.
  19. But we have be supposedly interested for a week now. What is the hold up? If it’s silly negotiations over value or salary eating, that is just stupid. It doesn’t matter at this point in time. I just say it out of excitement, I’m not expecting Beane to do anything, because I don’t think he has what it takes to get us a super bowl. I’m hoping he proves me wrong though by trading for Hopkins. Overpaying is just a silly argument right now, nobody is going to give two spits if it’s a 1st round this year or next year and eating salary. Nobody. Because it will likely mean we win a super bowl this year.
  20. I can understand being concerned about 1st and 2nd round picks when a team is rebuilding and trying to become a contender. We have already reached that point and then some. There are only so many places that we can truly upgrade that would pay dividends. Another star WR is one of those places. To me it’s just an easy decision. We are here, and we are ready to make these power moves now, when you are a piece away, this is the time to do these kind of “reckless” maneuvers.
  21. Yeah, like I said earlier Hopkins/Evans are the type of receivers that would elevate our team. The thing with Evans though, is he has an even higher cap hit. I don’t know if we can make that work, it’s even harder than making Hopkins work. I’ve been thinking about this the whole last few days. I just can’t honestly think of a decent reason to explain the hold up. I understand the negotiation stand point, but it’s really just splitting hairs. Nobody is really going to care either way, I mean sure some fans will initially be sour about the compensation, but they will get over it when we are the greatest show on Earth this season.
  22. It’s honestly so hard to gauge what is going on behind the scenes, because there is virtually little information out there. I have no idea what AZ is even asking for. But if I’m Beane, I’m trying to do what I can to land him, because this is probably the best chance to win a super bowl. Think about it, our main problem down the stretch was Diggs not getting targets and thusly moving the ball down the field. He was often times doubled, and Davis couldn’t win his matchups enough to breakthrough. We have done nothing this offseason to address this #1 issue. Because it is an issue, we can’t just run it back going into the season and expecting better results, that would be a sign of a GM that just doesn’t get it. Let’s just say Beane decides not to trade for Hopkins but instead takes a WR in round 1 in the draft. How much is is honestly going to play considering how reluctant McD is with playing rookies? Let’s say we draft one and he puts up 800 yards this season (fairly reasonable for a rookie), is that enough to win the arms race against KC/Cinci? We don’t really have the time at the moment to wait for a WR to develop into a 1B unless we are absolutely positive a 1B is going to be there at #27. Hopkins is an immediate 1B option with ample 1,000 yard seasons and he still commands double teams regularly. These are solid numbers despite not playing with a WR or Diggs caliber. For me it’s a no brainer, go get Hopkins and head into the draft and dedicate it for the oline and a LB.
  23. Even if AZ won’t eat the salary, we should still do it. Make room if we have too, we can, I’ve played around with cap numbers. It would likely mean moving on from Oliver and a few more restructures but it’s doable. There is no one else that is realistically to be had of Hopkins caliber. Who is going to care if we have to cut a bunch of people in 2024 if we don’t have room for any more restructures if we win a super bowl this season? Nobody.
  24. I mean why are we even playing these silly argumentative value games? If AZ is asking for a 2nd rounder, do it, make it a 2024 if you have to. Just do it. If we don’t land Hopkins, who is realistically available to be had at roughly the same talent level? OBJ? Jeudy? All of them are going to take cap hits and maybe even some picks (Jeudy). I’d rather have Hopkins anyways, because he has a higher double team rate per snap. He’s also never play along side a talent like Diggs, and OBJ has (Kupp) and he still couldn’t breakout. It’s Hopkins or Bust, just make it happen, nobody is going to care about some draft pick when we win a super bowl this year.
