Omg. You are right no way I could possibly understand that.
This the ***** you talking about? Tariffs to childcare policy?
This is nice but it's not the "own" or whatever your generation thinks it is...
You see, Childcare costs REALLY is not a Federal Gov't issue...which is/was the strength of our nation.
Things that should be NATIONAL, were National. Things that should be LOCAL, were Local.
Of course, in the current Democrat/Pathetic/Communistic lifestyle demanded by our dominant Leftists, they want NATIONAL/FEDERAL answers to childcare, which simply don't exist.
Sure, they can print more money and hand it to people which is what they do, but that doesn't work. Trump had no good answer because, honestly, there is no good answer to that question...I don't expect YOU to understand this, but CHILDCARE is a personal matter that should be handled, and perhaps subsidized, locally.
The fact that the Democrats have destroyed the cost structure of this nation is a real problem, which I acknowledge
But your "own" is not at all as thoughtful as you think it is...and frankly, it's a sign of a failing society, which I'm sure you can't conjure...

‘this guy is a pos, bully, simple, and base. I don’t doubt that he can be “engaging’ all the ***** he does is chit chat with folks, looking for openings.
and somehow that is more impressive to you than someone who has actually taken and fulfilled an oath of office.
it’s a simple (b/w) world you’re living in.No, and I don't expect to get anywhere with this discussion with you, and that's fine.
Trump discussed complicated financial constructs that VP Harris couldn't even fathom, from Macroeconomic particulars to exotic financial instruments (that we both agreed were greedy/bad).
No, I tried to explain to you that my interaction with him was the opposite of "fawning", but I apparently failed (or you don't want to hear it)
I've given up on this place, to be honest with you, if KAMALA HARRIS could earn even 48% of the National Vote...to me that means this society is basically over.
But I'm trying to help you understand that you're one-sided-ness is pretty well off.

so first, your going to write all of that over Donald ***** j Trump? Really. He is the history and economics I should read up on? Really? I get it frighting. 🥴
how are you helping again. Other than making yourself feel better?
I have no love for Donald Trump, I thought he was an a-hole in the 80s-90s-00-s...but I didn't know, just wasn't my type of guy, to be honest
Then he was going to Buy the Bills and I was worried I was going to have to disown my team
Then, before he was doing all this running-for-President stuff, had a client event and ended up spending time with Mr. Trump, and you know what? He was engaging, intelligent, not bombastic, etc (This again before he ran).
He has his flaws, but let me be clear, they've ensured that NO GOOD CANDIDATE would do this job to save us all (I understand that you don't understand that our Civilziation could not survive, but it's true).
And so, like JPM shareholders accept Jamie Dimon even though I'm sure he's no angel, they love him....that's the deal
You're in bed with silent bad people...I'm in bed with openly questionable people. Only one of us is being taken for a ride

This is your ***** Russian narrative. We may not have more elections over this ***** piece of *****. Seriously, we’re gonna throw away the United States over Donald Trump. No, this is ***** a Russian op.
I don't know why I'm replying here...but your lack of Economic and Historical knowledge is quite frightening (I take comfort that this is just an Internet forum and nothing here matters)...so this is not "personal" it's just meant to help
I realize the Internet give us all a voice, but I'd suggest you settle down and go read and learn about societies, history, economics, politics, war, power, civilizations, etc etc
You appear, admittedly from my perspective, to have zero clue about any of these things. I don't really care, your vote isn't what will send this society into an ending tailspin, more appropriately it will be the group-think that erupts from people like you that don't understand basically anything
Before you shout off that I'm stupid or something I did graduate from what the WSJ labeled the #1 school in America undergrad, earned an post-grad degree, have been a CFA charterholder since the early 2000s and generally have a feel, from having worked at banks and with companies for a long time, what it takes to survive/succeed over time both in this world and in this nation.
I would submit that this Religion you are ascribing to is simply not a good one, both for those you despise, but also, perhaps more importantly, those you are seeking to help (if that's a thing).
Good luck, but I felt compelled to help out here.

All true, but it has been inverted for so long now that I don't think it has any probative value other than bouncing along the bottom.
Covid had a bit to do with it, bit the Fed has gotten really good at doing their thing.
I wouldn't bet either way.
The one thing I would bet on is that 35 trillion in debt is not a long term positive, and will have to be reconciled.
We either inflate it away or other, less desirable options occur.
All the Fed printed money that's fed into Private Credit has salved a lot of ills in this Economy (pointedly, pay-as-you-go Consumer loans, etc etc)
Bank lending is dead and needs rates to revert back if we're going to have a healthy, normal economy again

Part of your issue if you use your feelz WAY too much when trying to determine what is accurate and what is not.
We can check out small campaign donations, pretty easy. You don't need to worry about your feelz.
https://www.opensecrets.org/2024-presidential-race/donald-trump/candidate?id=N00023864
Trumps Small contributions are 31.6% of his funding at $83,467443
Meanwhile Harris has her small contributions of $209,442,720, which is 41.54% of her fund raising:
https://www.opensecrets.org/2024-presidential-race/kamala-harris/candidate?id=N00036915
So.... ummm Harris has $130,000,000 more in small funder raising.
So next time you post, maybe get our of your feelz and look up real numbers.
This is all nonsense, BS information
You'd do well to not believe everything you read on MSNBC and the NYTimes

Saw this discussion yesterday. My knee jerk response was "cry me a river". But the stats are astonishing. 4x the avg suicide rate, low relationship rates, high unemployment , low college graduation rates etc. Women meanwhile are gaining. Higher incomes, higher graduation rates, more selective choices of mates (by and large consideration of only horizontal or upward socioeconomic romantic relationships with men). Who's to blame if anyone? What's the solution? Is it a real issue?

You only have to worry about the proposed tax if you make more than 100,000 dollars a year. Do you do that? This is your problem, you are paranoid. You’ve decided the government is always hiding everything from you.
So stupid...I presume you meant if I make over $100m per year, or whatever nonsensical number is represented. Of course, once established that will not remain the boundary as we further crash our country and demand more treasure to send to Ukraine or wherever else (Industrial production down in July non-Defense, but up 10% including Defense spending...yeah, where's that going).
I won't even bother asking you to consider the case-study of what would happen to, say, NVDA shareholders who have about $2T in unrealized gains this year...your idiotic heroes would demand $500B of taxes on those unrealized gains, which of course nobody has, so they'd have to sell the stock to realize the gains to pay the taxes which will destroy the stock market, go nowhere in terms of improving the deficit or debt, and lead to a downward spiral.
Go back to fretting about abortions, better at that

Obama was supposed to put all of us in FEMA camps made out of Walmarts, you’ll forgive me if I don’t take the vague threats too seriouslyThis all may be over your head, but Obama was the START of the ransacking of the Federal (our) Balance Sheet. The United States Debt/GDP was just fine back in 2008, before Obamacare started the annual pillaging and borrowing and destruction of our Balance Sheet. The exact numbers are look-uppable, but since then we've gone from like 70% Debt/GDP to about 120-130% (the problem here is...I've got no reason to believe the underlying data our own gov't presents anymore).
This puts on the nearer-term path toward Japan, Italy or Greece style deficits...the PROBLEM with that is, those nations had the previously Non-Socialist United States civilization to lean on for protection, Healthcare innovation, technological innovation, and global economic growth.
As Biden/Harris spend us down a deleterious path of destruction, which will be GREAT for asset owners at first and then terrible for everybody, eventually the reckoning will come.
As Alexander de Tocqueville intelligently diagnosed about Democracy, it will work until (the Left) a faction realizes that they may vote themselves the largesse of the Federal Treasury (my translation)
The Marxist/Leftist/Destructive Democrat Party wants to foist on us 12 years of characters in the Presidency who can't answer a simple question without a Cue Card. The Marxist/Leftist/Destructive Democrat Party has no intelligence and takes for granted the things that got us here, and they will squander them.
If you have children, your vote for The Marxist/Leftist/Destructive Democrat Party will ensure their lives will be nothing like yours when she is done with this place.
Those who started wiith some assets will brag about them at first (we are here) before they come and take them (unrealized gains tax? Geezus Christ)

From 2020-2022 there would have been over 7m deaths in the United States as part of the natural cycle of life
Due to a Leftist Democrat Marxist need to dominate the world, these deaths were described as "Covid Deaths", which allowed further penetration of Marxist ideals into the World's most successful Civilization, with the intent on toppling it, which they are well on their way to doing...
Also, the woman who helped destroy our National Border and led to a wave of illegal immigration is to the be one anointed to fix the problem. We're in deep trouble

True.
It interests me only because it shows how stuck we are in the USA, thanks to historical inertia, with an extraordinarily complex, clumsy, and expensive system of raising government revenue. We section off (in theory, not in practice) social security and Medicaid from general revenues/expenditures. We rely only on the devices that have existed for a century or more: customs duties, estate taxes, capital gains taxes, progressive income taxes. We don't consider a VAT because everyone is scared to go there, and probably for good reason - I have to assume we'd never have a stand-alone VAT, but that it would be tacked onto existing taxes. We'll never mess with the fiction of the SS trust fund. So the ideas we're stuck with in this artificially limited debate are all bad ones, like those discussed here.
Hopeless
We raise too much money, thats the problem

But trust the ones that provided this data. And revise it every month. And parrot it as a sign of a strong economy.
It's all lies, smoke and mirrors with this disaster of an administration
These are the payroll numbers, not the HH survey, but if applied, then the UE rate would be MUCH higher, around 5.8%, HUGE contraction, terrible economy.
If you assume about 40% overlap, meaning 60% fewer jobs, then the UE rate would be 5.6%, also really big/bad jump
Both are Recessionary.
So AMERICANS are in Recession, but.....Democrats need to be elected.

When will this horrible recession end, I can’t stand making all this money in my 401k.
For the last effing time, if they printed and tossed $12T into the economy and the stock market DIDN'T go up, we'd have a real situation on our hands...
They have endangered our future to secure and maintain their own power, and crowded out all sort of Private Investment (also part of the plan)...
But yes, you describe EXACTLY the problem...you and I may already own our things (house, cars, stocks), but 60-70% of Americans do not, and they are in their second Recession in 3 years under this Regime

Yes, that's what "Government" is to the Leftists among us now...purposeful destruction to "rub their noses in it"...destroying the means of production through ill-conceived "we'll just pay them to build Semiconductor fabs here with your money"...just generally destroying the nation's balance sheet and future out of jealousy and rage.
I won't live that way, our time on this rock is too short

Isn't that a counter example?
NASA privatized space launches, and here we are.
No, there are externalities to certain things that require a government's involvement. That's why people eons ago banded together to agree to be governed in certain ways, it's all about the kind and amount.
Space Travel is certainly something that is worthy of this level of cooperation. Private entities should be welcome to compete, but there is no question that the US Gov't botched this massively...we were forced to send our astronauts up in Russian spacecraft for about a decade! Spectacular failure on behalf of the Obama Administration. Eventually Elon and others will have solved this for them, but really embarrassing (if the Leftist Democrats had any pride/shame)
Housing is NOT something that should be governmentized...when it happens, it's an indication that things have been really effed up...such as after World War 2, which was obviously not our eff up, but we had to respond to it and so that's a game-changer and they went off and built legions of government-looking homes. Again, because of an eff up.
If we are to go about having the gov't build homes now, it would be because the Biden/Harris Administration effed up so badly, which they did, that they've toppled the normal workings of a market. Really really bad
