And Tyler Croft was tripped by a line on the field.
Have you watched other kickers this year?
Yes, I have, but there's only one kicker whose performance I care about.

That's awesome.
Now you gotta tell me what kind of car OJ bought from your grandfather.
According to my grandfather it was a loaded Caprice, and this is the only thing that makes sense -- because he sold Chevys (not Cadillac, only Chevy).
Given that my Depression-era grandparents, my grandfather serving in Italy in WWII, owned nothing when my mom was a kid, a little more than nothing when they bought their first house after the war, downsized as they lived in an apartment before moving to Florida, then lived with basically with one step above nothing when they sold their house in Florida, anything is possible -- and now that I'm thinking about it the OJ signed picture was last seen in 1979 or so. I would seriously not be surprised if they purged it when OJ was no longer in Buffalo and they were planning to leave town for retirement.

Newton is done. That SB shenanigan around avoiding contact to grab the fumble was the beginning of the end. I'm actually shocked (and delighted) that NE signed him.

Given the stiffs (I can count probably 12 of them off the top of my head) who've been under center at some time or other since Kelly retired, JA could stand to improve. However, he's not the problem, fumbling aside.

I don't know if I've posted this before, but there's this family lore where my grandfather once sold a car to the "Da Juice", shortly after he came to Buffalo. There was this signed picture of OJ hanging in my grandparents' bedroom for the longest time, and the autograph suggested that OJ bought a car from my grandfather. After my grandparents moved to Florida after retirement, I haven't seen the picture again. I asked my uncle if he has it, and he says that he doesn't know where it is. I asked my mom. She says that she's never seen it.
In any case, "Da Juice" was a fan favorite with my grandfather, even though he was not fond of certain, um, ethnic groups, and was super vocal about it too. So, every Sunday during the season I'd run around their house in Buffalo (my grandfather would rearrange the furniture to be like a DL or something), and he'd egg me on like OJ as I "ran through" holes between sectionals and recliners. Even when they moved to Florida we'd watch the games together when I was in town. So, my first memory is when I was 4, but I'm 100% sure that my family would watch the games when I was a baby.

Since last year I'm pretty sure that any rational Bills' fan will tell you that Beasley kicks ass.

Did BB defense just got exposed??
Cam is sucking vanilla water in this game, so I don't think that it's strictly an issue with defense. NE's cupboard is bare, and one wonders if after a bumpy 2021 -- that Josh McDaniels has another nocturnal emission in NE as HC.

Only this team wasn't QB'ed by Peterman and Taylor (and I liked, but didn't love Taylor).
This coaching staff, I still feel, doesn't adjust enough, but they adjusted enough to get the W. I think that there are issues on D where adjustments have to be gentle. I think that the team has issues on O where run blocking is very quick, and that we don't have a RB1 who can make it happen.
I'm not going to harp on HC because I promised on the 2nd half gameday thread that I wasn't going to. So I won't until end of season.
Outside of this, this was absolutely nothing like the SD game, where Peterman did his absolute best to lay a skid mark on a possible victory early and often.

Word came out yesterday that he was in danger of being replaced. He’s started out 0 for 3 and 3 sacks as the Jags trail 16-0.
Mike Glennon Time?
Maybe, but it's never really Mike Glennon Time.

While a W in the Bills' game today brought me joy, I was not happy with a number of things that I saw.
Having written that, NE is a raging hot tire fire. Good!

I don't really care so long as the team adjusts. Many worse HC have been responsible for DOA Bills teams.
-
Second half D adjusted, and that was great. Josh did well. Something is missing without Smoke. Running game seems to almost literally trip itself up at times. Bass concerns me because when the lights get brighter at end of season (or during postseason) as I expect them to, he's a total wildcard in my estimation.

You'd think that Gase would get fired. You'd think.

Having lived through Norwood, even I'm starting to get the yips. They really need to solidify the kicker position. I'm glad that Bass went 6/8, but missing no brainer types of kicks is cause for concern.

D (starting in second half) and Josh. Like others, I'll take it.

I'll alert Buffalo PD. Not a good optic for the team, and of course, think about the children.

Wow Bass has black under just one eye!! Is he a gangbanger?? One pant leg pulled up?
Maybe he rode his trike to the game. You never know. His grandstanding smacked of someone who just eked through nursery school. So it's possible.

Timeout? What in the holy hell?
Usually I would complain, but with Bass being an option to put this one away, I think that one might need to slow down and think about it.

I think Gase took over the play calling at halftime.
Smelling salts can make you cray I am told. Good for him. I look forward to seeing him working at Edward Jones about 10 years from now.

Thought Moss would be tougher to bring down than that
I'm going to let this out there, but I am not a fan of Moss. I liked the pick, and it made sense, but at the same time -- I don't really care for his level of play. Maybe if they had a legit #1 back, Moss would be able to fill the role effectively, but goddamn, I honestly can't believe that the team needs to fill... the RB position among other specific things on defense, and to get a new kicker.

FG to ice the game....
This is not my desire personally. I used to enjoy the Viper at Darien Lake, but not when it crossed streams with a Bills game.

We will have to see how this season plays out. McD is trying to play a style where he has a high octane offense and a disciplined defense. It worked for the Pats but I am not sure if it will work out.
Yep, I'm not going to get too chippy about this 'til end of season -- in particular a season where I picked them to go 10-6 (pending cancelled games due to COVID, of course). But I'll say that it's in the back of my mind and leave it at that.

If there was ever a Raiders of the Lost Ark, "don't look at it" moment, where you get to (a) take a quick peek at the Ark, and (b) live to fight another day and more -- it's this game.
