In these sort of awards you often do. McDermott has won the division with a team people expected to win the division. I think he deserves consideration. I think Rivera might win which I think is as much about the story as anything - his cancer battle, Smith's return etc - not that he would get my vote.

I think a lot of people thought Buffalo had a good shot to win the division for the first time in 25 years, but I'd hardly say they were expected to.  No one knew how New England would be with Cam, and after 3 weeks everyone thought they'd be great.  No one knew if the Dolphins would stick with Fitz or go with Tua, but knew they'd be way bettert han the past. The only reason Buffalo was thought to have a good shot was the pieces McDermott and Beane put in place and the players they decided to let go because they didn't fit the system.  Isn't that all coaching knowing who will do what you plan on teaching?

The Bills were expected to be good. That's where McDermott has votes against him.

The Dolphins weren't expected to be anywhere near 9-5 and Flores gets all the credit for that....... according to the people who will be voting for COTY.

They are expected to be good because of what he has done and what he has put in place.  You don't get pentalized for doing your job well.

  3. The number two seed is huge so it's hardly meaningless games.  Not only would you get two home playoff games(providing that you win the first one) but most importantly is you are guaranteed not to play KC unless they both make the AFC Championship.  If KC were to get knocked off along the way and you keep winning, the Bills could evn host the AFC Championship.

  4. Not trying to make this a political post, but is there any hope NYS will allow any fans outdoors in January if the Bills have home games?  I know a while back the governor mentioned he would look at the possibility in the future.  We have been  one of the few teams that are going through the entire season with no fans at all at home games.  I think it will be really unfair in the playoffs if we aren't allowed any and the other teams are. There must now be some feedback from the teams that have done it thus far right?  Is 10,000 do-able without worrying about social distancing?  Now that there will be a considerable amount of healthcare workers vaccinated by then, how about we at least allow the vaccinated people to go as a reward? It's almost like no one is even checking any more to see if we can do it.

  5. Well I have to admit there were some facts he threw out there that Iwasn't aware of.  I did not know Green Bay was 0-2 against teams with winning records. Also we are 3-0 vs. other teams he has listed in the top 10.  I think we've beat the most teams with winning records.  so it's not that far fetched really.  I'd personally have us at 2 behind KC, but we are not far behind at all.

I settled in to watch the Chiefs - Buccaneers game after the Bills game ended yesterday.  I never miss a chance to see GOAT Tom Brady humbled.  What I saw (and heard) instead... from the opening kick-off until the game was over... was commentator Tony Romo's endless tire pumping for Tom Brady... even when the 43 year-old Tampa Bay quarterback had a miserable time in the first quarter.  The party line from Romo... all afternoon long... seemed to be simply this... Tom Brady wasn't failing... his team mates simply weren't able to play up to his level.

Full disclosure... I hate the Patriots... and I hate Tom Brady. No special reasons... just all the usual ones. Brady's performances this year in Tampa have generally been what I thought they would be... roughly league average quarterbacking... greatly enhanced by an extremely 'powder puff' schedule. The Bucs still have 4 games left to play... 2 of them against Atlanta and 1 against Detroit. Good God! With the sole exception of the Green Bay game... the team has looked bad... and Brady has largely failed... whenever they were matched up with a decent team.

Romo had the nerve to predict a Kansas City - Tampa Bay Super Bowl.  Everything I've seen this year tells me that Brady might be at the Super Bowl... provided he buys a ticket.

I'm gratified to see a lot of commentary on social media this morning about this topic.  I'm wondering whether any other Bills fans noticed Romo's troubling behavior yesterday?

Couldn't agree with you more.  I'm the same way, if theres a chance to see Brady or the Patriots lose I am going to watch it.  Brady's going to have to beat a  couple good teams on the road to go anywhere near the Superbowl, and I just don't see it.  When Romo was heaping praise on him yesterday, I was saying to my wife I could actually see him considering retirement after this season. I usually like Romo a lot, but did not get that at all yesterday.  Thanks for the post!
