Last year before he went on IR in October:

    1. 3 catches 18 yards

    2. 5 catches 42 yards

    3. 7 catches 70 yards in a game that played a full OT and the game that Dallas Goedert also got hurt.

    4. 4 catches 9 yards

    5. 1 catch 6 yards

    6. 4 catches 33 yards

He also wasn't the #1 TE to start the season. Dallas Goedert was.

Yeah but the offense stunk, and Wentz is terrible and Pederson is an idiot, and they had nobody else to throw the ball to.

Here's what journeyman TE Richard Rodgers did in the same putrid offense with Ertz out.

    7. 6 for 85

    8. 0 for 0

    9. 4 for 60

    10. 2 for 48

    11. 3 for 53

Zach Ertz was an elite tight end. He is not an elite TE anymore.  He's better than what we currently have on the team but if you expect to see the Ertz that gained 900 yards on 135 targets in 2019 or the Ertz that gained 1,100 yards on 156 targets in 2018 you're going to be disappointed.  First off, he's not going to see anywhere near that number of targets.  Diggs had 166 last year, Beasley had 109, Davis was 3rd most with 62.  Lets assume that Davis got some targets that would have been Brown's as the 3rd WR and let's make Ertz the 3rd most targeted player on the team with something like 80 targets. His career catch percentage is 67%.  His last 3 years have been 74.4%, 65.3% and 50%, respectively, which makes his 3 year average 63.2% That gives him 51 catches. Ertz' career average is 10.8 yards per catch. He has been under that average each of the last three years (10.0, 10.4, 9.3). His most recent 3 year average is 9.9 yards a catch.  51 catches at his career average of 10.8 ypc is 551 yards.  51 catches at his most recent 3 year average of 9.9 ypc is 505 yards.  So barring a massive share of Diggs or Beasley's targets going to Ertz you are looking at somewhere between 500 and 550 yards receiving.

Yeah but Wentz stunk and Hurts doesn't throw well so he must've gotten a lot of bad balls to see his catch percentage drop so much.

Goedert was 70.8% last year.  Rodgers was 77.4%

Ertz is and always has been a compiler. He's not a game breaking player like Kelce or Kittle or Waller.  He just isn't. Now you are going to have the compiler at age 30+. How much is that worth in terms of compensation for the Eagles and money for Ertz?

Ertz isn't a top 5 TE in the league anymore. He's not even the best TE on the Eagles.

So do scheme and personnel matter?

KC's D-line features Clark and Jones two prime time pass rushers and their secondary is anchored by the Honey Badger who is one of the best in the game among other quality players. They are far from the bums many here are portraying them to be.

I agree and we did make it easier with Beasley and Davis both playing with bum wheels and that’s just tough. Especially when they play press coverage

That’s fair, but wasn’t Diggs in that same situation last year with the Vikings?

If your QB doesn’t like you he won’t trust you so throws won’t go his way. Diggs was open about it he said he went to Kirk and the OC and they brushed him off that’s when the fallout happened

Maybe I'm still salty over that awful performance last night, but I'm not going to give Beane huge props for the Diggs trade.  Diggs definitely had a great year, but I would argue that Josh Allen elevated Diggs, just as he elevated Beasley.  And you're not even addressing the fact that the Bills could have stayed at 22 and picked Justin Jefferson, who's six years younger than Diggs, is on a much cheaper contract over the next four years, and put up numbers that were every bit as good as Diggs's this year, with Kirk Cousins throwing him the ball.  Care to address that?

Easy he it the number 2 wideout with arguably the best RB in the NFL. So mainly going to be single coverage with single high safety. Diggs was against bracket coverage and still ate. Need speed I like toney from Florida and etienne if we can snag him

Yes Dabol called a TERRIBLE game.

Singletary getting 8 carries in a 1 score gm is mind boggling and idiotic. Outsmarting yourself dropping Allen back 48 times!!

But we persevered through that and had a 4 point lead and this defense holds them to under 80 yards, we win the game. That was unacceptable . This unit has been intact for 2-3 years going against a 2nd year, erratic QB. Where was the pressure? Our D played great but when it counted most , failed pretty badly. Ugly , hurtful loss today. My only hope is this team gets stronger after this one.

Just saw the Hughes replay, brutal

We should be 7-2 , Worse loss in years.

Dabol did not call a bad game josh missed throws to receivers that were open

I want say this as politely as I can. Leave the defense alone. Anyone complaining about our defense needs to get a grip. It's not perfect, but consider the following:

    Points against per game:  16.66

    Points scored per game:   19.33

We've given up 20 or more points only twice this season. TWICE.

We've held 2 teams to single digits scoring.

We've SCORED LESS than 15 points 3 times.

    We've had games of 10, 13, 14, 16 and 17 POINTS SCORED this year.

Please leave the defense out of this. And before anyone says the defense is doing this against a soft schedule, tell it to the offense. They're playing that same soft schedule.

I agree no one else seems to see this the d is fine and the offense is garbage

Do you notice how on the broadcasts they STILL cover Dak as if he's a rookie learning how to play the game?

Unless we somehow fell into an Andrew Luck type draft scenario with a sure fire can't miss must draft QB Allen is the guy next year minimum.  So let's get him better and get more pieces around him let him develop because he has definitely not shown that he doesn't belong on the field.  The exact opposite.

See your a media guy idc what a broadcaster or analyst says. Im sick of watching games where our defense holds teams under 20 and we are barely squeaking by. It feels like tyrod all over again if the d doesnt show up we have no shot

Well there is a weekly Knox drop.

There were balls that were catchable.  Is that not true?  There were 2 deep balls he missed that were bad.

I'm not sure how many drops.

Drops i give you. but when josh misses he misses bad like 7 to 10 yards bad when he misses high they are high. I would really sit down as a coach to see and evaluate cause any time josh is on 3rd and he sees heat coming he doesnt have a hot read he runs instantly it looks like he doesnt have the feel of a qb a lot of the time

  9. 1 minute ago, Big Blitz said:

Fair but he's making throws that we were told he could not make in the 10-15 yard range.....and there are a lot of balls being dropped and other things happening that arent all on the QB.

I've evaluated him.  If the season ended today he comes back the starter.  What are you doing?

Besides the knox drop today where was there another one?

    3 minutes ago, Meatloaf63 said:

No, they are part of the problem. Too many times teams make third and long. Giving up the game winning drive was a problem, no turnovers is a problem.

Holding a nfl team to 19 points though

Everyone is a work in progress and grows year by year at the position.  The great ones.  Stafford is having his best season.  Ben has had his best in the last 5 years.  They do enough in their 20s get to their 30s and hit another level.  Its experience.

Week to week....shoot series to series everyone reaches final conclusions on guys.  Oh he sucks.....wow look at Lamar spin move that's awesome and totally long term sustainable (or did it even count bc it was against the Bengals I can't keep up with performances I should take seriously or not).

Ryan Tannehill is now good again btw!  How about that.  And one month ago Cousins was the worst QB in the league.

But you're right let's just go back to the elite QB store and find one or rev up the Delorean and select Mahomes or Watson.  That's loser Buffalo mentality I no longer relate to and just refuse to relate to.

My solution is John Brown is an elite #2.  We currently should be a 60-40 run team.  We need a DE that can set the edge better than Trent Murphy.

Problems not getting solved until April and May.

First off i never said get those guys your labeling josh as a project. Tannehill has always been decent and cousins is still the worst qb for his contract besides cam. My solution is judge your qb he is missing open guys to break games open there are things you can learn but qb is a lot of timing and feel for the position you got it or you dont period the game on offense is won and lost by your QB

Dabol is calling a pass happy game nearly every week without players that can execute it at a high level consistently.  With a young QB and 3 capable running backs, the ball should be handed off more often.

So play like the bills with shady and tyrod or fitz and fred jackson is what your saying. Cause if you are then man we are screwed

So by what your saying is we need to run more and what does that do to cause we've been a running team for years and where did that get us

We're in year 2 of the project QB.

    What's your plan?

Everyone stop blaming a d for not getting turnovers when you held a team to 19 points or blaming a oc for bad playcalling when receivers are in positions to make plays and the ball isnt anywhere close. Here a question for you why is josh allen a project to you cause some analysts tells you he is? cause mahomes watson jackson were labeled projects and  look at them. but darnold and mayfield werent labeled projects and look how they are playing

I’m not referring solely to the missed deep attempts.  Educate yourself and watch the tape.  What’s a higher percentage, a run against an 8 man box or a wide open receiver?

If you’re answer is run, the problem lies in the QB, not the play caller.

I agree 100 percent plays by josh were there to be made and he didnt

Daboll is that you? Why limit Singletary to like 8 carries? Why go to the strength or the teeth to there D? There run defense is horrible.

But josh had plays on the field wide open plays he missed i can see if we were struggling to get open the wideouts were open josh missed bad today

This is nuts for years it was air it out we need to be in the modern nfl game where teams throw 35 times now its we need to run first and make that our number one option like we havent seen that for 10 years
