  1. Love this signing.  Take some of the hits off of Josh on short yardage situations.

I saw a few comparing yards per carry to Singletary, but he also had to run into stacked boxes where Devin was usually running into favorable alignments.

Absolutely need the offensive line to be better though.

  2. There is plenty of practice time between the end of this year and the start of the next season.  The only reason to have him practice would be to bring him back at some point.  Unfortunately, we are closer to the three week mark, but they probably want to knock the rust off in practice and take some lumps there then throwing him into a playoff game.  Even with as much football as he had played, there is going to be some rust to work through.

The feel for the game can take a few weeks. That would be where the concern is right now, if he's 100 percent physically.

I recall that one of the concerns about Rosen was that he was independently wealthy.  I don't remember the source of the money but the point was he didn't need to make a bundle playing football, and that he was just as likely to walk away if things didn't go well, and so he might not put his full attention into the game.

Maybe there's been a change on the bank account situation.  Why would a guy basically put his life on hold, to move around so much, not getting going with the rest of his life, if he didn't need the money?  Clearly he's not going to be a star in the league.

On his side of the ledger, he did get totally mishandled by his coaches and front offices.  Drafted by the Cardinals, and then immediately shoved to one side because Kingsbury wanted Kyler Murray.  Then traded away into a situation where he had no shot at starting.  On an on it went, with him never getting a real shot.  Contrast to Mahomes, who had the complete luxury of sitting his entire rookie year, watching a professional QB (Alex Smith) and learning how to do things in the NFL, and then sliding into the starter job in his second year, with the same coaches and strong roster around him.

I don't know about independently wealthy, but his family is extremely wealthy.  He was always touted as the next great growing up.

Nothing humble about his upbringing.  He isn't known to be the greatest teammate or very coachable. It all caught up with him in the NFL.

  4. I have a family member that plays at Iowa state.  Had played with Brock for the last three years.  He is a great kid, leader, and had started a lot of college games, including most of his true freshman year at Iowa state. He really doesn't get rattled.

The issue is he is not the most physically gifted, but all the intangibles are there.

  5. I live in Omaha and went to the regular season game last year. I also, don't hate the team.

The fans were really cordial even in the loss, and had a lot of positives to say about the bills and Josh.

I want the bills to beat them bad, but don't hate the team.

  6. If the bills go on to win the conference, which I fully expect they will, this game won't hurt Josh at. He put up huge numbers, and will only help his yard averages when it comes to MVP votes at the end of the year.

That is of course first determined by them winning the conference. The missed McKenzie will have zero impact as long as they beat them in Buffalo.

  7. As others have said he calls his own number.

He likes the physical aspect of football. It's part of the reason why he is so great, but also needs to do a better job protecting himself. I believe someone said Devin mentioned Josh laughing and smiling after the runs. He loves it! Being a Wyoming grad, and now following him with buffalo, this has always been the case. They tried to get him to slide at Wyoming too. He just hates it.

  8. The way I see it Benford was being talked about as one of the best performers all camp. Not just for being a rookie, but in general one of the best players in camp.

This is why it's important to have volume drafts. First round hit rates are much better, but there are a lot of lower picks, including the two all pro safeties, that are day 3 pick stars. Sometimes people get too caught up in draft position.
