  1. Play keep away on offense, slow the game down and limit their possessions.

Front 7 has to use their eye discipline, stay in rush lanes, and hit that QB every chance you get.

Clay Matthews was completely owned in the RPO game because he went after the back instead of the QB, so don't do that.  Contain the edge and let the interior of the line get him.  Blast the QB if you're not sure where the ball is rather than the RB on the RPOs.

White should be able to take away M. Brown, and we're not getting beat deep with Hyde and Poyer.

I like that we have the LB's to run him down, the discipline to stay in gaps, and Josh on the other side with his own competitive fire.

I don't think they can cover Beasley.

So maybe understand that about yourself and think twice about whether or not your concerns are based in facts or are a product of your ultra-productive worry glands.

Like, i have a similar type issue. I'm ultra powerful and strong. I have to watch myself in crowded situations because one false move and i can amputate limbs with a karate chop.

So sometimes i just stay home.

You can choose to "stay home" in the sense that you don't post every time you start thinkin' like a scaredy cat.

Where did I say that I’m concerned? I’m saying that this isn’t how McDermott’s guys typically act. Shaq talks a lot of trash and got into a fight last year. Just play the game and shut the hell up especially after the game (and after you win)

I’m sure Sean quickly praised Shaq In the locker room for talking trash after the game

“Just a phenomenal effort,’’ he (McDermott) said of Lawson’s game. “He brings a lot of energy to our team during the week. He’s one of those dogs in a good way. He likes to hunt and I love having him on our team. I think he’s one of our catalysts, a guy well respected for what he brings every day.’’

Said Hughes: “He forced his will today. That’s the Shaq we know.’’

    also from article:

“First of all, they were talking junk,’’ said Lawson after he pulled on a sweatshirt reading “Buffalo vs. Everybody.’’

“That’s my thing, I talk junk. You can’t out-junk me. I like that stuff. To start the game, I think it was No. 60 (center Connor McGovern), he goes ‘I haven’t remembered you since college.’ I said, ‘I bet I show you.’ ’’

I bet Lawson’s comeback line was a lot more colorful than that. You don’t start a war of one-liners with Rodney Dangerfield and get “I bet I show you.’’

Schopp isn’t a mouthpiece for the Bills and he’s not there to make excuses. Football isn’t his favorite sport and I don’t even think he’s a fan of the team, they are just part of his job. If anything, he’s fairly unbiased when it comes to this team and it hurts the people who love this team and want to pretend everything will be fine when it generally hasn’t been.

    ...

That's a big reason it's tough to listen for me.  He doesn't LOVE football, so he doesn't prepare to talk about football.  He's a drive by media type of guy when it comes to football, he wants to talk about anything but the game.  I believe he hates the average Bills fan, but respects the few that agree with him.

So why would WGR hire a guy like this to cover the Bills then? This game is supposed to be fun!

I think it's part of the format for sports radio.  News and topical talk early, homers (believers) for the work day, haters (doubters) for the drive home.  That's the format I've noticed when I listen to other stations travelling or prepping for upcoming games.  They choose to give all fans a voice maybe?  Not sure but there is always a doubter on every channel.  Doubters make believers love and defend the team even more, making the doubters hate on them even more.

I know they have a job to do, they refer to it when things start to get too sticky...'Like this is our job, you don't understand"...I just wish they had someone who loved what they do and spent the time to prepare so they know the roster better than me, cared about preseason battles, love the growth of young players...etc.  I think they could be better at their job if they cared more about the whole thing.  They seem tired and bored with this gig, but nobody stops them.

  5. The game never felt right to me, it seemed like the plan was to throw for 300 yards and hit the deep ball a few times to show fans they could.

I could be totally wrong about that, it's just a feeling I had watching.  I didn't understand the timing of the deep balls, like on on 3rd down.

Tough game to lose for some reason.

I didn't like that the Browns RB's touched the ball 33 times (24 carries and 9 rec) vs. the Bills RB's only 17 touches (13 carries 4 rec).

Singletary is listed as 7 targets with 3 catches for 8 yards, they need to take a hard look at that.

McD hasn’t done anything special here yet. There were some 9 win teams in those 20 years that missed the playoffs, McD just got lucky that the cards fell the right way in his 9 win season as opposed to Marrone or Mularkey who both missed with the same record.

I agree that he has not done anything special, and I don't believe anyone is saying that.

How many years would 9 wins have been enough, but the coaches were not "lucky" with the cards?

You can call it luck, others could say McD is the right man at the right time.

    Maybe he's just a lucky guy? ?

  7. I'm a fan of football.  I love the game itself, and I love it more when the Bills win.

I want players that I can root for, guys that McDermott to wants to have.

Long term winning isn't built overnight.  They're building a core that can grow and tech new comers the right way in the future.

Maybe the guys we have won't all still be here if/when the win a championship, but the teaching of their way from player to player will be the scaffolding.

Now, do you give every coach and GM the time and patience like that?  Is every good guy also going to be a winner?

No, but you can look for a sign...

I'm sorry but the days of grooming a QB for 5 years are long gone.  FO's and coaching staff's get 3 years. QB's drafted in the first round get 2-3 MAX.  Adapt or die.

Die?  Like 20 years of not reaching post season?  This team was dead and McD has given it a pulse.

3 years for a coach is how loser teams keep losing...That's the recipe for never winning.

Losing games, losing the locker room, losing your job. McDermott is a preacher of culture, if the results are not there, the followers will start questioning their belief's. This is why to McDermott, it is so important to get process guys, it takes them longer to lose faith, they don't question the preacher, etc. Culture in lieu of talent = losing IMO.

So he has to win games to keep his job, how is that different than any other coach?

So far the results are 1 playoff appearance out of 2 tries.

...but but the point differential and stats, so fail...right?

    Edit:

My mind is kinda blown that after 20 years of no post season there are fans that want this Superbowl to happen so fast.  There is a process of winning in place that has not been here.  I'm enjoying the build, and I feel sorry for those that can't.
