  1. I live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow one to mount a dish outside on their property. So I've got a DirecTV dish sitting in my living room against the window facing the southern sky. Yes, the window has to be open for the signal to go through. I've put a translucent plastic sheet up to at least partially defend against the elements. Interestingly, the signal does go through closed venetian blinds so I maintain some privacy. I understand that this approach is not practical if one's window is not facing the south or if you're in a location where an open window in December will freeze your butt off. But it can be done if you're desperate enough for Sunday Ticket

  2. Much of the dialog has been changed in script revisions and the like. If you read the official book version authorized by Lucas, it does actually bring the point up. In the scene with the Emperor in ROTJ, the Emperor mentions that they knew all about Yoda, and that he was on Dagobah but he was helpless and impotent and could do nothing to stop them....

Ah-ha! Thanks for that info. I'm relieved to hear this issue didn't get left unnoticed.

  3. Saw it yesterday and loved it. Here's one thing that I've been puzzled by over the years. In the original trilogy, why did Vader never refer to Yoda? Particularly in ESB he tells Luke "Obi Wan has taught you well". True enough, but at that point most of Luke's training was done by Yoda. You'd think Vader would acknowledge the awesome power of Yoda. I guess you could argue that Vader assumed he was wiped out like the rest of the Jedi, but wouldn't he sense his existance since the force is so strong in them?

  4. The Smiths, both self-titled debuts.

Here are some others that haven't been mentioned yet:

    The Wedding Present, George Best

    Patti Smith, Horses

Billy Bragg, Life's a Riot with Spy v Spy

    Television Marquee Moon

These are some good choices! Let me add "Rattlesnakes" by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.

  5. Any Kings Quest fans here? Loved that series.

I loved the Kings Quest series! In fact, I owned the original version that was made exclusively for the IBM PCjr (remember that piece of crap?). I was devestated when KQIII required a whopping 256kb of memory to play. So I saved up nearly $400 for a 128kb memory expansion for the PCjr!

btw....I found a used version of KQ8 "Mask of Eternity" (or something) last month. It sucks compared to the early KQ games.

  6. In some respects, Evans has been the MVP this year. Last year Reed was a big disappointment and we had no legit 2nd WR. The addition of Evans has made the entire offense so much better. An excellent draft pick.

Lee Evans will be a classy player and a good player for many years to come -- on the same level as Troy Vincent, and nobody in the NFL has more class than Vincent.

  7. You must be good luck.....TD Evans!! :)

Thanks much for posting the link. I'm a Lee Evans fan and was hoping to hear the game to see how he does. I wish the NFL did a better job of getting games on the Internet -- free of charge -- so those of us in different parts of the country can tune in. Heck, put all the adds you want on there, I don't mind a bit. Go Lee!

Does anyone know if next week's game will be shown in the Midwest????
