Davis is a 4th round pick, but not necessarily a lock. It’s unlikely, but if Foster shows the work ethic again, it’s possible that he makes the team and Hodgins takes Williams’ spot.

Obviously draft picks at his draft slot tend to make the roster- and I like Davis- but the competition for WR 4-6 (assuming we keep 6) will be fierce.

I had such high hopes for foster going into last year. If his work ethic was the problem again last year i would think his time here is very short. I could see them trying to feature him in the preseason and get a draft pick for him. Maybe even a couple games to start the year.

I just dont see coaches wanting to keep trying to push foster to work harder for success. He went undrafted and has been cut before he should already want it imo.

So im going with davis over foster or Duke. But i understand nothing is given to anyone. Davis will out work foster imo.

  3. Im going to say over four. The truth is we could have all seven make the roster. How much they contribute is another thing. But to have late round prospects every year earning spots on this stacked of a team. That truly shows the importance of not trading late round picks to move up in the draft. So lets look at each draft pick.

2nd round: AJ Epensa DE... roster lock ... We were lucky to get him at this slot. Im personally glad we didnt trade up. Awesome pick.

3rd round: Zach Moss RB...roster lock... We all wanted the bills to draft a RB. I personally wanted Dillon, Akers, Gibson, Moss then Perine in that order. But this guy is a beast and we got great value for him in the 3rd.

4th round: Gabe Davis WR... roster lock ... He probably pushes Robert Foster off the roster or on the trading block/Practice Squad. Deep threat also should be gunner on punt teams. Foster is facing a make or break situation now.

5th round: Jake "from state" Fromm QB ... roster lock ... He wont play a down other than preseason. But there's no way we risk him trying to put him on the practice squad.

So he makes the roster by default. This will be Matt Barkleys last year here. Great pick may be traded in the future for a higher draft pick then we spent on him.

6th round: Tyler Bass K ...  I think he replaces Hauska this year. But he's not a lock... I will say he goes to the PS for the sake of arguments. Still a good pick.

6th round: Isaiah Hodgens WR ... I'll say he makes the roster.... Great pick ... Big body wr with great hands. He runs good routes. I think he pushes Duke Williams off the roster this year.

7th round: Dane Jackson CB ... I'll say he doesn't make the roster if EJ Gaines stays healthy.... So that would mean he'll make it by default actually. Competitive player who wraps up and makes the tackle in front of him. Plays the ball in the air well enough to break up alot of passes. Awesome pick in the 7th round.

Yes our best opportunity to win with Allen on his rookie deal. But consistently drafting late round gems is what makes dynasties.

So I've got five draft picks making the roster. (Six if you think EJ gets hurt before the season).

How many do you think make our deepest roster in a long time??

    Go Bills!!!

Can you name a roster during the drought that had as much as that one. Is it ideal? No, but compared to what followed the next 14 years it at least made Sundays watchable. We finally have a quality team but you're gonna act like we've been in contention the last 2 decades? As a Bills fan that 2003 roster was as good as it got up until now. The core of that team went 8-8, 6-10, and 9-7 from 02-04 in a division when the Pats were dominating. Go ahead and give me a better roster from then until last season.

Ughh that was terrible going back through all those flawed rosters but I'll say 2015 was the only one i can say was better. Not by much though but it's all terrible looking back now. Idk how any bills fan (including me) thought ANY of those teams had any shot of making the playoffs.

2003 roster was pretty solid. Though we lost Price and drafted Josh Reed which was a step down, the rest was pretty talented.

Ughh that roster hurt my eyes just seeing it.

I dont even remember FS izel reese??? Ryan Denney ugghh .. OG mike pucilio?? ... Mike Williams at RT yikes ... LB James "got slow motion juked by Pennington" Posey... The human statue Drew Bledsoe at QB.

I forget were we tanking that year?? We should have traded anyone worth a high pick like Moulds, R. Brown, Schobel, etc and started from scratch.

I'm personally very excited about AJ. I don't know what everyone else sees, but when I watch him play he seems great. Everyone says he isn't fast enough or athletic enough. I don't see it. He looks like a monster to me and I believe he'll be a great player and a feared pass rusher.

I agree with your view on Epenesa. I think the bend thing is overblown when you see how well he uses his hands and leverage.

Bend is needed more for pure speed rushers to keep from being pushed upfield past the QB. I think Epenesa will average 10+ sacks a season for his career.

For those wanting us to still sign Clowney.

I heard and read alot of Seahawk fans and team reporters more upset they lost Q. Jefferson than Clowney.

Im definitely excited to see what Jefferson will add to the Dline. As I've heard he may be the steal of free agency.

I know they might not be in the top-5 or even top-10 in terms of high end talent (no Von Miller/Myles Garrett type of Freak), but overall I believe we may have the deepest D-Line in the league.

As a base defense, With everyone healthy, we can make two starting caliber defensive lines and have a starting caliber player as my 9th defensive lineman...

    Group 1:

    LDE: Epenesa

    1-Tech: Phillips

    3-Tech: Oliver

    RDE: Hughes

    Group 2:

    LDE: Murphy

    1-Tech: Lotulelei

    3-Tech: Jefferson

    RDE: Addison

    Extras: Butler & D. Johnson

    I would say

    Group 1:

    LDE: Murphy

    1 Tech: Star

    3 Tech: Oliver

    RDE: Hughes

    Group 2:

    LDE: Addison

    1 Tec: Philips

    3 Tec: Jefferson

    RDE: Epenesa

    Thats a scary Dline

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Beane trades Murphy for a mid round draft pick. I doubt Epenesa starts as McDermott doesn't like to start rookies over veterans.

Absolutely. Don't give him a position, use him as a weapon.

The new NFL is all about mismatches and he's a walking mismatch especially with Smokey and Diggs stretching teams vertically.

I'll be happy with any of the big WRs but because of his upside, Claypool is the guy I WANT. (For the record, I was screaming at the top of my lungs for DK last year, that one turned out okay...) :)

Im definitely hoping we draft him in the 3rd or 4th round.

I just knew we traded up for DK last year.

I was sad it was for Ford instead.

We have room on the practice squad which I think was also expanded- basically 2 on regular roster and 4 on PS

So you dont think a 5th rd TE (maybe J.Pickney or the Dayton TE) could possibly beat out Kroft or Sweeney for a roster spot.

Do you really think our depth is that completely solid. A few injuries to any positions other than the O &D lines scares the crap out if me.

If J. Brown and C. Beasley went down for 6-8 weeks our wr group would be simply trash besides Diggs. If Edmunds and milano were hurt for 6-8 games I'd hate to see who all was left.

We need more solid competition. Im willing to bet atleast 2-3 4th to 7th rounders make this squad. Especially with the wizard Beane drafting them.

He will end up with two 2nd round picks, and two 3rd round picks. I think he will be trading up heavily into those rounds for guys he thinks can earn a spot on this team easily compared to some late rounder.

I highly doubt this. Beane seems great at picking contributers in the late rounds. I think we might see one trade up this draft maybe in the 3rd rd.

I really don't understand why so many people think our roster is so stacked. If we have a injury bug like philly did last year. We will need rookies to contribute more than last year.

We still need depth and future players to develop under our veterans. So lets not mortgage our future so much. Remember Beane is a wizard at finding late round talent i.e. Tommy Sweeney, D. Johnson.

A good WR or a good DE will be there at pick 54. Let the draft come to you.

Definitely i despise trade ups (for the most part). Why do so many people think a 5th-7th rounder cant make this team. Beane has done a superb job drafting talented players in the late rounds. Then there is the injury bug that strikes in training camp and preseason. We aren't as deep as everyone makes us out to be. If one of our vaunted three top wrs miss significant time we're in last years debacle again.

    Wait what?

Our second round pick is going to boot 3 different individuals players off the roster? In 3 different roles? Even if he moves up to WR 4, you know we would still carry more receivers than that right?

I also feel like Shenault would make those three players ( Duke, McKenzie, and Roberts) expandable. We certainly would carry more than 4 wrs still (probably some kick coverage/development guys). Or even keep a couple of them. But he does offer versatility.

Im not sure about his injury history but maybe that he ran the ball in the Wildcat so much attributed to that. Especially down on the goal line and short yardage. I would hope we wouldn't ask that of him here.

Why do they need to upgrade Beasley with their premium draft asset in 2020?

Beasley will be fine in 2020..

I know you are entitled to your opinion, but it’s SB or bust in 2020 I would prefer they spend the pick in a bigger need..

I would love to win the SB this year. But the bust part?? Doesn't that mean we tear the whole team down and start over from scratch?? I feel like we have a three year window with us having the 5th year option on Allen to still go for the Lombardi.

Also if we draft smart like Shenault or Dugger or whatever position and hit on our draft picks. We then could lose a player that is starting now. Replace him with capable, younger, and cheaper player that is under a rookie contract.

I agree the best window is with your QB under his rookie contract. But its definitely not the end of contention if your drafting BPA not reaching for assumed needs.

Before everyone gets all in their feelings, I wonder if Josh Allen is really a franchise QB. He has major accuracy issues and he makes bad decisions.  I believe the Bills should cut bait and do everything they can to draft Tua.  I believe Tua is another Patrick Mahomes.  He has superstar written all over him and I think the Bills are going to be "spinning their wheels" on a project.  Tua is the best QB in the draft and the best QB prospect in years.  I hope I am wrong, but Only time will tell.

Yes Josh Allen is a franchise QB. He consistently has put the team on his back and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
