The only place that narrative existed was with Bills fans. There has been no indication from the team that they are anything but happy with Murphy.

Not sure about "happy," but I agree with the sentiment. The exterior pass rush will need all the help it can get and nobody really pushed him out of the rotation. He'll give you the occasional burst of production, occasional doldrums, and is generally a "decent" player. Not a huge fan, but the pass rush is slightly better WITH Murphy. No cap or team reason to part ways at this point.

  2. I place the blame for that loss on the pass rush. There was virtually no pressure on Mayfield during the final drive.

We faced a very weak QB lineup in 2019, so the pass rush has got to be better. There's a lot of bodies in the front 7 and several guys with talent, so I'm hoping McD and Frazier can put together a stronger PR. Not a huge fan of Frazier's non aggressive approach.

Ed Oliver's progress is going to play a huge role in all of this.

Agreed.  He’s going to be perfect on this team.  He and Singletary are going to be feared as a tandem. Would be nice if this group of OL could transform into a top 10 unit.

You and I have easy access to alot of Utah games. Watched enough of them to come to the opinion that the guy is just a baller. His vision and "burst" jump off the screen. The 40 time doesn't wow you, but there were some issues at the combine and his pro day 4.52 is fine. He's quite a bit more of a homerun hitter than Devin IMO. Very impressive duo.

But the whole "afraid to tackle him" thing is a bit much.

His combine had no bearing on my take as we have to take the underwear olympics with a grain of salt. It’s just that little about his game jumped out at me when I watched his games and video. I think he can be a passable rotation player, and that DOES have value in this defense, but he’s not an explosive pass rusher who is going to make impact plays. Dependable players have their place, though.

Fair enough, but the combine numbers perfectly align with the player I see on tape.

I think he'll be a solid contributor, but to say his floor is Lawson is a bit hyperbolic. I've heard that a few times already.

If he's Lawson, it will have been an excellent pick.

To the "explosive pass rusher who'll make impact plays," that's my number 1 gripe here. The front 7 is STACKED with solid players. I was hoping they'd draft a guy I felt confident could at least compete with the Desaun Watson's of the world coming off the edge.

My immediate reaction was unhappy, but I’m coming around to “meh.” They simply got a cheaper version of Shaq Lawson for four years. Several teams are doing the same thing by selecting players at positions they’ve let go.

I'm trying to come around to "meh" because I trust McDermott to understand how a player will fit his scheme; just doesn't address my concerns about the deficiencies we have w/ our DE unit as a whole.

Hoping the combine was an aberration.

The funniest thing is he had a really strong arm.  I always thought he was too nice and tried to do exactly what his coaches told him but to a fault.

Yeah. His throwing motion during games was robotic. He was never "just playing ball." Case study in not having the right mentality to be an NFL starting QB.

You have have an internal killer instinct to excel; so many external influences that the greats are able to ignore.

Very likable dude who just didn't have the "it" factor.

To be perfectly clear, I will absolutely be voting for Biden because I don't want to see a runaway SC and I'd prefer progressive ideas not get vetoed. But I won't be doing so enthusiastically. Pretty sure he'll win Nevada, but I think he's only got about a 35-40 percent chance of winning the GE.

Republicans walk in lock step with their candidate while Democrats cannibalize their own. Too many Bernie bros are gonna sit this one out, and that's a shame, even if I get it.

Classic vote against candidate X scenario. Didn't work in 2016. Probably won't work this time around.

Bernie had a very viable path to nomination until the epic centrist consolidation before Super Tuesday. He was doing fine with women (a slight majority of the Bernie supporters in 2020!), although Liz Warren was stealing a lot of the suburban female vote and did Bernie no favors by not dropping out before ST. Bernie was also doing well with all minority groups except older African-Americans. But that Boomer black voting bloc is so crucial to the Democratic Party, so not making inroads with them was a fatal campaign flaw.

This. The boomer black voting bloc gave us Hillary, and now Biden. That's the bottom line. Thanks, but no thanks.

Bernie is BUILT for this situation. Damn shame.

  9. Mike Vrabel is an EXCELLENT Head Coach and that team is built to win even if Tannehill does regress. I'm not a big fan, but he won't regress to Mariotta level.

That team will absolutely be competing for the AFC Championship (if there's even a season).

Adding Clowney will make their defense that much better.

REALLY hope this isn't true and the Bills make a run, but the latter appears unlikely.

  10. We've seen what happens when your receiving core is trash, but what is really going on?

We "drafted" a STUD WR with our first pick. Brown and Beasley form an extremely solid 2/3. They're getting up there, so it would be a plus if they added a young player later on in the draft. You really want to draft WR with our first AND second picks? I just don't get it.

It wasn't that long ago that the prevailing wisdom among fellow Bills fans that the QB and OL position were the units that made an offense tick. Now, it's all receiver, all the time.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. At any rate, the NEED right now is at EDGE and an infusion of talent on the offensive line. I hope BPA lines up with our actual needs.

  11. What I don't understand is why the various leagues can't operate without attendees.

Real fans would still watch and they can dub in some noise for the idiots requiring an "atmosphere."

Seems very feasible to do contact tracing on a few thousand athletes and the overwhelming majority of the revenue is TV/viewership.

  12. As a side not which is completely (or should be) apolitical; I think it is time to re-open the economy, especially if we're talking about March 1st. People are so conditioned to practice social distancing and wash their hands (which they should have already been doing I THINK) that the risk is inherently mitigated.

We can't sustain this much longer, especially when we're seeing the numbers we're seeing. I want my mom, who's 65 with COPD, to stay at home and continue to do what she's been doing. Other than that, life is full of risk and these numbers don't justify a PROLONGED shutdown. May 1st or maybe even earlier seems perfectly reasonable.

    Both.

It's serious, but doesn't justify the heavy handed tactics. And the media coverage of this thing is a farce.

I actually agree. And here's the deal; the media coverage right now attacking Trump for acting too late IS totally unfair. You don't shut down a country under the circumstances we faced in January and February. I think his timing was solid. On the flip side, he was really erratic today and I do not believe it was a good look. JMO.

My point is simply to say that there's a disconnect between Trumps reference to Civil War death's and the rhetoric from his top surrogates from Hannity to O'Reilley to pretty much all of them.

It just feels like EVERYONE has become incapable of independent thought. It is what it is, but I appreciate the HONEST response
