If this is true, and I doubt it is, it would be a move to buy them time to find a young franchise QB and not have to pay Dak big money. If they can convince Eli to come in for a decent salary (maybe some additional perks from Jerry?) They think his play will be better behind a good line and buys them some time to transition to someone new and maybe a good mentor. I think the Giants would make a mistake letting him go and would keep him to play and mentor a QB they draft in the 1st next year and buy them some time before giving him the reins.

Well we all know when Jerry says something he always means it and sticks to his word. Didnt he say one time that a coach was safe then fire him like a week later?

This is a fairly unique draft coming up as most teams I can think of either have a QB or have a developmental guy right now so the market is kind of soft for the draft, it's not a great draft but there will be NFL QBs in this draft.   I really liked what I saw from the kid from Oklahoma State Saturday.   500 yards passing is no joke, even if Oklahoma's defense is.  He'd be a 2nd rounder if I were looking.

With Allen, this will make or break the Bills for the next 5 years. Huge. Of course 2020 looks promising too but if they miss the mark badly in 2019 they should not get a chance to mess up 2020! Otherwise we could be looking at a return to greatness. At last!!!

2020 looks promising because they have hit on so many draft picks.   If they keep hitting on them, but Allen does no pan out I would not throw out the baby with the bath water.

I would give Allen both 2019 and 2020 and if he can't get it done I'd draft a QB in 2021 and try again.

So did the Bills. One win, or loss for that matter, can't blur your vision for the rest of the season and beyond.

It wouldn't blur my vision so much that I would give up on Dak Prescott for a 37 year old Eli.    They have a young QB, a solid oline and a great running game.   Bringing in Eli wouldn't make them a contender any more than the Giants are a contender in NY.

I generally agree with your sentiment, however, assuming Allen is a miss, he wouldn't be the only QB they mis-evaluated during their tenure.

Thats true.   Maybe bringing in someone to help evaluate QBs would be the right move I don't know.    I see the foundation they have laid here and i just don't want it blown up because they missed on the QB position.

That is literally why Whaley is no longer with the team and Beane and McDermott are here.  That's how it goes in the NFL.

I disagree Whaley was gone for much different reasons than just EJ not working out.    There was in fighting with the coaching staff, poor salary cap management, getting rid of popular players like Fred Jackson, wasting draft picks.  Totally different scenario.

If Allen doesn't pan out McDermott and Beane might not be with the team and as you should all know by know, new front offices bring their own way of doing things and want their own hand picked personnel.  Essentially they bring their own processes.

I hope we don't fire them for picking a QB that didn't pan out if that happens.   The smart thing to do is to keep moving forward not grenade the whole thing.

If Allen pans out the drafts were awesome.  If he doesn't they're not looking so hot.

I think if Allen doesn't pan out we go back and draft another QB.   No reason to let everything to go waste and start another rebuild when they have the roster to be competitive.

I liken it back to the 90s Steelers.   They were a QB away for years, pretty much from 1992-2004.  But they didn't fire Cowher, they kept at it until they got their QB.

  8. If he does start vs the Jags they better treat Ramsey the way they treated Adams last week.  Don't put the ball anywhere near him.  Keep using Benji as a decoy and go to Zay and Foster.    Feed McCoy and get the ball out quick.  But Allen has to get more accurate on the deep ball.  That opening play to Foster took the Jets by surprise and we had them off balance pretty much all game long after that.   We have to do something like that again early vs the Jags.

LOL; the simple fact is that most people, in most jobs in an office setting, are filling time, killing time, and trying to figure out any way possible to get through their work day, most of the time.

This site would have about 75% less activity if the above were not true.

Ever monitor activity here on the weekend, when most people aren't stuck in an office?  Activity drops way off.

i'm going to miss being on here when I start my new job on the 23rd.   I won't be on here at all anymore.  or very little.
