Is our run defense great? No.  Is a great run defense necessary to win a Superbowl, particularly through a gauntlet of great QB's in the AFC?  Also no.

A great run defense isn't needed to win a SB? I would figure a team facing Zach Wilson would be able to stop the run considering that dude can't pass worth *****. I would be stacking the line against him. So yes, a great run defense is necessary to win a SB. It forces the other team to throw more and make more mistakes.

Yeah after he broke 1 run for 83 yards, was run down, and got..... 3 points.

More concerned with our headcase under center.  Breece Hall is a great young player, but he ain't the difference between winning it all and not.  He's a good fantasy guy.

Ok, I give you that, but it was his second rush of the game, he gassed out and didn't score. The Jets should have scored a TD, but the fact that he was able to break that run off tells you a lot about your defense. I'm not talking *****, just stating facts. If he didn't break that run off we wouldn't even have scored 3 points. So yes, the run defense Is an issue foe your defense

If week 1 is a big game, every game is a big game.

That is not an invalid argument - but when someone says something like, Allen never shows up in the big games - by the nature of a statement like that, every game isn't a big game.

So, no - this was not a big game, by most definitions.

Every game is a big game, there are only 17. Especially with the defending Champs dropping their first game. Kansas City is the standard right now, you have to be at least 1 game ahead of them each week, cause eventually they are going to get their ***** together and start a winning streak because of Mahomes and Reid.

Being able to stop the run in spots is important.

As great of a rushing attack as the Jets have, it's not in my top 10 of worries after tonight.

At one point Hall was 2 rushes for 109 yards, so I think it should be a major concern  for your team.

Zach Wilson has 9 career wins in the NFL. He has 2 of those against Josh Allen. He has never beaten any other QB in the NFL more than once.

Everyone is talking about the Dolphins and the Pats but we need to get this dude out of the division!

No, our defense had his number, ZW is just the QB on the field while the game is going on. This is just an idiotic thought.

Honest question—what are your thoughts as a Jets fan with Rodgers possibly done for the season? Does it feel a little like you won the battle but lost the war? At some point your QB needs to win you games, and Wilson has shown what he can and can’t do, tonight notwithstanding. Congrats on a solid team effort for you all around!

We won despite Wilson, he looks lost out there. This is a 7-10 team with him at the helm. Just like last season, our defense can't sustain their playing tonight all season long. To be honest, it's Miami's division to lose at this point.

We quite literally gave them this game... Handed it to them on a silver platter. But that's an old story with this team now... Their star QB is regressing before our eyes because they can't figure it out.

The Jets get a really bad break, but in the 2nd half especially they get the ultimate gift. Josh can't even be smart enough to understand that zero TO's equals an easy win the minute the old man goes out? Or we don't have anyone that can relay that message? No one?  That's it. Win ugly...Whatever... But it's a win. And he just can't help himself. This game was lost by John Allen and the fact that we had a full off season and no one seems to have gotten through to him that we can't turn the f'ing ball over. I really cannot believe it... Like... They did not have to be great tonight. The minute the old man goes down just don't be stupid. Embarrassing.

There's no excuse and in the end it's on McDermott. I agree with the guy on the radio just now. You lose twice to Zach Wilson in 2 years then it's on the HC... We almost got beat in the Playoffs by the Dolphins 3rd string QB and we got rolled by the Bengals. I understand Josh just did stupid things tonight, but he was doing stupid things last year too and they had a full offseason to figure this crap out. They have already failed in week one. Good teams do not lose this game... They just don't. It turns out all the Jets had to do is make sure Wilson did not turn it over more than Josh, and play ultra conservative. Incredible.

I realize Josh has limitless upside, but again...They had all off season, drafted a weapon in the 1st...And this is the best they can do? They have 16 games to change my mind... But I'm admittedly pissed and in "blow-it-up" mood right now. Get the next McDaniel in here please.

    I'm sorry...

    Go Bills!!!

Gave them the game?? Our defense earned this win, plain and simple.

Please reread. I said because they hung with the bills in the playoffs with a 3rd string QB was the reason for the hype.. Most “experts” think with Tua they beat Buffalo. Also FYI if you read it all I said it was flawed logic it logic anyways.. also they had Waddle and Hill 2 years ago and they have I think 2 (maybe 3) more years before cheetah retires.  So their window is closing.

They were hyped before the playoffs.

The Jets are the curiosity team this season. Flashed a lot of young talent last season but were dreadful at QB. This season they added a QB only a year removed from being MVP and a couple of other pieces. They are the shiny new toy and they are in a big media market so they are going to get a lot of attention. The Bills have been consistently good for 4 seasons now, but a sour playoff loss has made people hop off the bandwagon.

Monday Night will see how well each team is compared to each other. I do expect the Jets to be good this season a 10-11 win team. I do think they even have a shot to win a playoff game with the right matchup. However, I just don't see them being better than the Bills. I think the Jets have issues at offensive tackle and at WR outside of Wilson who is a stud.

I think that even if the Bills do lose on Monday it isn't over. But it should still be an interesting test.

I agree to all of that. They are either going to do great, or they are going to crash and burn. As a lifelong Jets fan i expect the latter, its what we are accustomed to with this team. Its the media that is hyping it up and some of the Jets players are feeding off it. The fans of all teams have nothing to do with the hype for any of their teams, they are just there to support the team.

Jets got a (in football years) very old QB, could they strike lightning once like the Bucs did? Maybe but then again the Bucs made it to the playoffs as a wildcard team and they started off poorly till Brady pretty much took over the team culture.. (or at least that what they said) So maybe they tank and Rogers does Roger type things and pouts about it.

As for Miami, they are getting the hype, IMO because they hung with the Bills last year with a 3rd string QB.. so all the “smart” talking heads figure with Tua they will be unstoppable. (Flawed logic, but a logic to it as well)

They got hype because not only do they have a good defense, they have two receivers that are incredible. Their team goes as Tua's health goes. So the Jets cant get any hype because they have an old QB? But the Dolphins hype is ok because of a QB3? Your logic is very flawed.

  11. No matter what, everyone hates the Pats more than any other team. Brady proved BB is a fraud once he left NE. Talk all the crap you want Pats fans, your QB1 is garbage, cries to the refs when he is breathed on, cries like a B word because of an ankle sprain, and has a pouty face on the sideline when things don't go his way. Your team is not relevant anymore, so you come to the current team that has been owning the division for the past couple of years and seek approval from their fans for bashing on the Jets. This was a look at me post, kudos for trying to get attention. Every team gets hyped up when an exciting player joins their team, happens to every team, wait until Caleb Williams joins the league. You don't think every fan was sick of hearing about the Pats for 20 years? You act just like that Packers fan that goes to all the AFC East team message boards and ball wash the teams for personal gratification, pathetic.

The Jets have the longest active playoff drought in sports. That makes them instantly easy to root for. Except for me. F those guys.

Every season i say the same thing. Hoping we break that drought.

  12. Players want to think of themselves as great, human nature. Is it too much talk? Possibly, but they need to do their thing on the field now. Its going to all come together, or come crashing down real fast. To each their own i guess.

They went from 32nd to 4th last year. Thats a big jump and likely had nothing to do with playing the murderous row of QBs such as

    Jacoby Brissett

    Kenny Pickett

    Sklyar Thompson x2

    Brett Rypian

    Trevor Simien

They can only play the Qb's that are put in front of them, and they did play Josh Allen x2 as well.

So the Jets line is really as bad as people say?

Honestly its not good right now. AVT coming back from a season ending injury, Becton is finally back after a couple of years injured, Duane Brown is protecting Rodgers blind side and that scares me. That is our only weakness on the team and its the most important IMO.
