I would be surprised if the Jets aren’t one of the bidders for Paradis.

Whether he picks NY or not, I do not know. But I fully expect them to make an offer (and probably a pretty big one).

Same with Antonio Brown. I think the Jets will be one of the teams that try to trade for him. At least that’s my guess.

I just get the impression that Maccagnan kind of likes to big game hunt.

I’m nearly positive that they will offer Paradis a big contract. OL in general is such a huge need and especially Center.

Antonio Brown I’m not too sure about though. Maccagnan hates to give up draft picks and he doesn’t love diva’s.

I don’t think the long signing has any bearing on who they may target. Long was just available and they wanted to make sure they got someone ASAP. He’s versatile and can start in the pinch. I would guess buffalo signed him as depth or a temporary starter.

Paradis and Morse should still be big targets if they hit the market.

Spencer Long should in no way affect that. Despite being a starter for the majority of his career, he is just another guy and with targets like Mitch Morse and Paradis getting ready to hit FA..you cannot let Spencer Long out of all people hold you back lol.

  3. My thing is the Broncos seem to be so unaware of the fact that most NFL teams are so OL hungry that the moment Paradis is let go to test FA and come back with a price...they aren’t getting him back. The Bills, Jets, Cardinals, Texans and every other team under the sun is going to be bidding on him.

It’s absolutely over with for the Broncos if they are seriously going to do this lol. Elway trying to outsmart everyone again...reminiscent of Paxton Lynch

  4. Jets need a Center too. Hope we get him or Morse. Actually very surprised that he might get to see FA but I guess considering a season ending injury and being 29..they don’t wanna pay him what he’s wanting. He’s still one of the best in the game and you go out and get him if you can. Part of what makes a Center valuable is the ability to recognize what the DL is doing and make adjustments at the line of scrimmage and Paradis is great at that. It’s what made Nick Mangold one of, if not, the best Center in the league for some years there.

From Feb 7th where they low balled him^

Injuries in the NFL are huge.  You are looking for on of the 32 best C in the world and you trash him because he couldn’t shotgun snap accurately against 325lb freak athletes with an injured snapping hand?

Now, I don’t know if he’ll be any good as a starter, but writing him off because he struggled with an injury last year is too much, in my opinion.

I’m writing him off because he wasn’t very good regardless. Injury was simply apart of it.

Now he played respectably at LG. I’d put him at LG if I was the Bills.

Agreed. I would plug him in as the starting right guard right now. Let him play where he is comfortable and where he played in college. Outside of Saffold, Foster, Quinton Spain and maybe AJ Cann, there is not much better on the market at guard. Long is probably similar in value to Cann. Long makes sense because he offers them options and leverage. If they can't sign Morse, then they can chase a guard and leave Long at center.

He was at his best in man schemes under Bill Callahan in Washington. Sure he can play in a zone, but he's no good there. It's why Gase got rid of him and I think Gase is going to go all in on Matt Paradis.

At his best he is a nice pulling guard. Very agile and fluid movement. Usually guys with those skill sets fit a zone blocking scheme better. He was introduced as a finesse sort of player. I’m sure he’ll have the same production in either scheme though. And would love Paradis btw but doubt he even hits the market. My 1A option if Paradis isn’t coming to FA is Mitch Morse.

Sounds like you're just saying he messed up shotgun snaps because of the finger

Probably tbh. Bowles left him in there for no reason. We had a decent enough back up Center. I don’t expect him to botch snaps when he’s healthy but doesn’t really do much as a Center anyway. Move him to guard and you have a viable back up.

Well mediocre is a huge upgrade for our oline. At this point we just need to add some NFL talent to the oline, even if it is only mediocre. Hopefully he will end up as a backup after the draft. I think that is where we are going to address the C position. But at least we have a guy that can play and not get our franchise QB killed. Last year was embarrassing, it was the worst oline I have witnessed.

He’s not an awful guard tbh. He moves decently. But huge problems pass protecting at C and not so great at run block.

LG is probably where he should be. He’s average there.

44 starts in a 53 game career, only ended up a FA due to coaching changes. This will be the end here for Groy. Long and Bodine compete for the starting center gig.

No he’s an FA because he was extremely mediocre. He was the one responsible for flinging snap after snap over Darnold’s head. He broke two fingers and Bowles kept him in for some ungodly reason so he’s not necessarily as bad as that stretch of games suggests but still very mediocre. You guys better hope he’s a back up. Good riddance to that guy.

In my opinion he is a guard. Trying to make him a center hurt him, and he played better when the Jets played him at guard. I would have no issue with him being our starting right guard. Sign Morse and Daryl Williams.

I will say this, Long is not a zone player, so I hope that this means we are going to more of a power run attack.

Yes he is a zone player lol.

No, read again - he's been terrible in the takeaways category historically. 4 of his defenses finished 32nd in takeaways forced and 2 others finished 31st.  Basically, the Jets hired Captain Queeg. We've lived through it and know what he's like.

I like the hire. Not really worried about the past. Not really worried about any of that. Let’s see Josh Allen pass against our defense and then we’ll have this same convo. I’ll look for you when that happens.

My issue with Williams - aside from being a thorough a-hole -- is that he is ridiculously overrated as a defensive coach. The results over 20 seasons:

Yards allowed - finished in the top half 8 times, and in the bottom half 12 times. Mean finish: 15.5. Median finish: 17th.

Points allowed - finished in the top half 12 times and in the bottom half 8 times.  Mean finish: 16th. Median finish: 14.5.

Takeaways forced: finished in the top half 8 times and the bottom half 12 times. Mean finish: 20th. Median Finish: 22.5. 4 last place (32nd) finishes and 2 second last place finishes (31st).

    Top ten finishes:

Pts: 5 out of 20 seasons

Yds: 7 out of 20 seasons

Takeaways: 5 out of 20 seasons

    Bottom 10 finishes:
Pts: 5 out of 20 seasons
Yds:  6 out of 20 seasons

Takeaways: 9 out of 20 seasons

Basically, he's the very definition of mediocrity.

I think he can get the most out of the players. Bowles was very complacent and let players take plays off. There will at least be accountability and I think that holds value in itself. He’s very aggressive and he gets burned sometimes. He’s from the Buddy Ryan coaching tree. It’s not a big surprise he had more success in takeaways than any other major statistical category. No one is saying he is the greatest but i’m very happy with the signing as of today when I look at who was available.

I'm at the age where I genuinely don't dislike other teams, including divisional rivals. I don't want to see guys get hurt, and love watching a good game, regardless of who's on the field. I can truthfully say that if the Bills are playing the Jets, and the Jets win, the loss doesn't emotionally impact me in any way, shape or form, and if they make some good plays along the way, I can appreciate the skills on display from the opposing team. I recognize that view is in the minority on this site, but this is a site for Bills fanatics, so I don't expect anyone to agree with that luke-warm take. I also think Brady and Beli are the GOATS, and was actively rooting for them to win another super bowl from whenever it was that Buffalo was eliminated from playoff contention--somewhere around week 10 if I remember correctly, lol.

With that being said, from your user name, to your posting style, to the fact that you're on a division rivals message board, you seem to be the antithesis of that frame of mind, and are here purely to antagonize other people with your words. If I was a mod, I would ban your IP address from this site, because I can't imagine you contributing anything of value to any coversation that takes place on here. If that's not the case, then I apologize, but are you truthfully saying that you can't see any potential for disaster with the interpersonal dynamics of the leadership team that the Jets have employed?

You tell me that you’d ban me if you could and then apologize in advance if I’m a decent poster while at the same time insinuating that I’m a troll. Sheesh, talk about passive aggressive. I have nothing against the Bills tbh. I wouldn’t be here if I did. I don’t have Dolphin and Patriots accounts. I think a lot of you guys are cool people..with the exception of a few and I love talking football. All of my posts here have been well thought out, level headed and strictly on the topic of football. I just found it amusing that you guys always have a thread about us lingering around the main page lol...it’s cool though.

    Anyway, to answer your question.

Vitt is Gase’s father in law..

I'm sure Gase knew he was going to want Vitt on his staff before the decision to hire Williams was made and I'm sure all of this was hashed through with both Williams and Vitt before Williams was hired. It's a good story for the writers in February, but if the Jets weren't confident that the old animosity between the two was squashed, one of them likely wouldn't be here. as far as Blake, the incident at with Rams is one that is well documented and while there was a small debate on whether or not Gase would hire him..you’d have to imagine, naturally, Gase and Williams spoke on the issue and Williams assured that he would keep his son in line. Gase isn’t letting something like that hinder his second chance as a HC.

rival fans are hoping the Jets moves sink and fail. That’s natural. We all want to be in 1st place and neither of our teams have done that in a long time. There’s a lot of competitiveness and hunger there. Of course you all think it’s going to crash — because you want it to. You could also take what I am saying as small balling the situation because I have hope in the move. I’m not a guy who wanted Gase to begin with but with further observation and thought — its not a half bad idea. Gase’s System works on QB’s being able to make pre-snap and post-snap reads. Ryan Tannehill was not good at this. Sam Darnold is already very good at this. They will mesh. The Rams incorporated a similar style of coaching where they hired a pure offensive guy and got a guy who knows DC so well that he can basically be the Head Coach of the Defense while McVay can do what he does best and focus on offense...and is what you are seeing here with Gase and Williams.

is the plan bulletproof? Hell no. But it’s not going to “inevitably” sink like Bills fans presume. We’ll see how it goes.

  13. Some people really need to take a look at what's there in free agency this year. There are only a few guys I'd be interested in, guys like Moncrief, Humphries, or Tyrell Williams. All of them will sign deals in Enunwa's range (or better), and all of them will be in high demand as young, productive, up & coming players. The rest are either older players or guys who haven't done anything yet.

There are no top 5 WRs in this year's draft. I know a lot of jet fans expect Macc to waive his magic wand and trade down to collect a second rounder (at least), but the likelihood is that they take their top 5 BAP (DT/Edge) and wait until the third round to take a WR - with needs, wants, desires at OL and RB and CB, too.

I get that people in general don't like Enunwa's injury issues, but he's still a bird in the hand for the Jets. It's a good contract for him, but it's also market value. It's better for the team to enter the offseason with Q, Robby, and Herndon as the receiving corps floor and build from there than to try to put together a WR group without Enunwa. Speaking ofHerndon, in addition to those WRs above there are a couple young TEs I'd be interested in, too, in Jesse James and C.J. Uzomah.

As a jets fan, whose on your short list for coach?

Also, I think Harbaugh would be good for you guys, but the media there could be problematic.

No more rookie coaches. We’ve went rookie coach since Parcells left.

My list would go.. Mike McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh but if they insisted on going rookie HC then I really like Dave Toub.

Just beat the freaking Cheaters next week - that's all I care about

That’s the goal — even if it would drop us down in draft position. All I care about is taking it to the Patriots while they are as weak as they have ever been.

He had a great game. I hope he keeps going and takes Marsha down next week.

And I hope he and and Allen enjoy a long and healthy rivelry where Allen wins always. ;)

I appreciate the sincerity. I hope the same as well. I really do.
