    Acquire franchise quarterback.

Build a dominant defense while you red shirt the qb.

Go nuts in free agency on the offensive side of the ball next year now that players will want to come to a team without a glaring hole at qb.

    Super Bowl in 2020.

I might be reading this theory wrong, but if we sit Allen this entire year and then attempt to spend a ton next year in free agency, what will convince any free agent that we no longer have a glaring hole at QB?

If we sit Allen all year, people will be lining up for Mccaron? Are you saying go nuts next year in free agency and then the year after we will be a desirable spot?

    Thanks in advance

What's the price tag for a human brain? What's the price tag for walking around with a walker at the age of 55? I think I made my point. While GM's and coaches huddle in a nice clean room trying to project which guy will last the longest, the rest of us try to argue why one player (say Tyrod) isn't worth a 2nd round pick but is definitely worth a 3rd round pick. When's the last time someone judged you based on your value as an abstract pick? I feel sorry for a guy like Tyrod. Used and sent on his way. Another reason why the combine is nothing more than a disgraceful exhibition of Choice, Prime or bottom shelf meat.

Maybe a few million a year and retiring at 35-40?

I'm glad you brought this up. All we ever hear about is bloodlines and genetics. How many times have we heard an announcer say "Now here's a guy that plays a lot like Luke Kuechly"....that, in an of itself, is a slap in the face of each player's own individualized style as a player. If these men want to play the game for bragging rights, I'm ok with it, but to pay even one lousy nickel, you are perpetuating the idea of in dentured servitude which we have worked tirelessly to eradicate for well over 45 years.

How on Earth have you been a football fan with all of these issues going on for so long?.....it's almost like you support it or something

I've got no issue with Drafting Lamar at 12 because he is a MUCH better pocket passer than some fans give him credit for. I've said it for over a month now, but the video on him is good about being in the pocket and his accuracy completion % is at 59.1%, just .09% shy of the benchmark 60% most say is needed to be considered a truly viable QB prospect going into the NFL. When you add in the fact that out of the top 6 his receivers had the highest drop rate and as you mentioned his talent and running a Pro Style Offense, there's true promise there.

He does need to work on his footwork to avoid the errant throws, but considering all of these QBs have some issues that need to be developed or refined, Lamar Jackson is a tremendous prospect and could be the centerpiece in an NFL Offense with the right coaching staff.

    .09% shy of 59.19%

you might want to refer back to my comment to the OP in which I commented he had pointed out a couple of my mistakes and that I was just breaking balls. He and I already laughed it off.

And I'm not your buddy - but thanks for all the helpful advice. You're getting a 2 minute minor for being the 3rd man in.....))

Look pal (since I'm not your buddy), you can't expect people to read every page in a thread.  I was hoping that someone would have started a new one so I wouldn't have to sift through all 2 of these pages to see what's what.

My bad though, just doing some amateur ball busting of my own.

That "3rd man in" comment was gold. If nothing more, thanks for the chuckle.

ever hear of a run-on sentence ? punctuation can be your friend. also, another vague title bordering on the absurd

There shouldn't be a space between the last word of a sentence or question, and the punctuation mark, buddy.  Also, capital letters should be used at the beginning of a sentence. And also concerning your last sentence or whatever it is, you need to put something at the end. I'm not sure if that's a sentence but surely I can't and won't assume what it's supposed to be.  I figured if you were going to go all grammar Nazi on us, I'd help.  Now, I'm no professor, and I may be quite uneducated, so if any other grammar Nazis out there can help me with my punctuation or grammatical errors, that would be swell.  Thanks!

So I'm not allowed to have an opinion about a player who was the leader on our d-line that was abysmal last year?

Ah yes, now being called stupid. This is fun.

Apparently not. If you don't agree with the majority, you're an idiot.

Kyle Williams is a huge part of this defense, that is getting paid wayyyyyyyy too much. 6 million is ridiculous. When I heard we had re-signed him, I imagined no more than 3 million. What happened to a team friendly deal to keep him around and retire a bill.  Guess he needed another in ground pool.

That being said, welcome back meatball

Foles is worth more to the Eagles in 2018 as an insurance policy than what they are going to get in a trade.

Other than his one miracle year under Chip Kelly(27 TD's and 2 INT's), and a couple of really good playoff games this year, he has put up 34 TD's and 27 INT's(career numbers minus the year previously mentioned).  So how much is a team going to give up(in a trade and then a new contract) for this soon to be 30 year old?

Yea, who needs all the data when you can exclude an amazing year so you can call him average?? Great analysis....

Aaron Rodgers sucks. If you exclude all of the touchdowns he's ever gotten, his TD/INT ratio is atrocious!

    See what I did there?

So, “mafia” means something positive in your world?

Actually, it was rarely used here for most of its existence. There was a slight uptick when BBMB shut down. And now everyone is using it after the Andy Dalton charity fundraiser.

BillsMafia are the asshats lighting themselves on ?. Those who get off on the name are getting off on the badass connotations as being associated with the their own little sports mob.

The earliest I can remember the use of Bills Mafia was when Stevie Johnson was in his last year in Buffalo.  I fully embrace the name. I agree with an earlier post which stated how it was at least an original name for us collectively.  Bills Mafia has been solid for years now.

I suppose you oppose raider nation too??? I mean, pirates are bad. Do you oppose the 12th man???? That's just too many people on the field.  Just my $.02.

    Either way, go Bills!

I absolutely believe it's a tactical play call by the Patriots.  Go deep, get PI call.

I'm not saying whether or not the PI calls that go in their favor are bad calls, because the ones I saw yesterday seemed legit to the letter of the rules.

It does however seem to me that if a WR is trained to draw PI, they can indeed draw that call with very little effort or noticeable acting.

I'm convinced it is indeed a Patriot play call.

I generally won't stand up for anything in Boston, but most teams use that tactic. Not a dirty move. Things happen all the time down field. Take a risk and sling it out there

    Bad day?

Only truth is being said, looks like you can't handle the truth man. They proved once again they are the best of the best . Down 10 with a quarter to go , that offense put on a clinic.

Jacksonville could have started by converting a 3rd down or stopping a 3rd and 18 .

I'm done hating on them. They earned a SB berth, deal with it

    They've earned nothing.  #unknowngate.

no it wasn't.  i can honestly say i've never heard anyone call guys like watkins or dareus bad players.  if anything, it was more their attitudes that got them shipped out.

let's not also forget that just because someone is on a team doing well, it's not necessarily because of them.  i think the pats would still be in the superbowl if guys like hogan, gilmore, and gillislee weren't on the team.  not saying they are bad players, but threads like this can be so over blown.

Never once? Watkins was never called a bust in your presence even once?

Do you think Todd Haley has been a good offensive coordinator for Pittsburgh?

Did you want Rob Chudzinski as OC here (as many Bills fans seem to)?

Do you think he's a good OC?

Because Haley was running Kansas City's offense from 2009-2011 before Daboll took it over in 2012.

and Chudzinski was the OC in Cleveland before Daboll took over.

Go look at their numbers with Kansas City/Cleveland... they were worse than Daboll's numbers were. Sometimes it's just the personnel you have.

In 2011 with Haley, on offense Kansas City was 31st in points, 27th in total yards, 15th in rushing yards, 30th in rushing TDs, 28th in rushing yards per attempt.

By most accounts, Haley left a total mess in KC when he was fired, especially on offense.

    In 2012 under Daboll -

-they improved in total yards from 27th to 24th.

-Improved from 15th to 5th in rushing yards

-From 30th to 25th in rushing TDs

-from 27th to 6th in yards per attempt.

The passing stats were very similar between Haley & Daboll's offense but IMO that has to be attributed to QB.

When he took over Miami's offense in 2011 -

-He improved them from 30th in total points scored to 20th.

-From 27th to 18th in passing TDs

    -from 21st to 18th in passing N y/a

-from 21st to 11th in rushing yards

-29th to 19th in rushing TDs

-30th to 15th in rushing yards per attempt

He took over as OC in Cleveland in 2009 for Rob Chudzinski.

Chud didn't do any better than Daboll in Cleveland and most would have been thrilled with him as OC. In fact, Chud almost did worse in Cleveland. At one point in 2008 (with Chud as OC) they went 24 consecutive quarters without scoring a single touchdown!

Aftr Daboll took over for Chud -

-30th to 29th in points scored

-26th to 8th in rushing yards

-31st to 20th in rushing TDs

-26th to 15th in yards per attempt

-31st to 28th in red zone efficiency

again, the passing stats were almost identical between Chud's offense and Daboll's, and again I'd attribute that to the QB.

Anyway... my only point is that you have to look at things in context. You can't just look at his offensive rankings and say "he sucks". You have to look at the entire picture including what type of situation he was left, the offense he took over, their previous rankings and what the improvements were (if any) over the previous year(s) , the personnel he had, etc etc.

Great post. Thanks for the info
