Now when he does that to a guy, AND sends him through a burning table, I'll be impressed. Until then, McBeane ruined the draft! We are #doomed! Wasted pick!

I kid... I kid... Joseph was ranked much higher than he was selected by a solid majority of the draft media (for whatever that's worth). From the little tape I've seen, he is very fast, plays violent, and just needs to hone his focus and aggression into more quality plays. He also needs to put on a few pounds of good weight, but with that new training facility, the opportunity will be his for the taking. I expect a bit of a learning curve, too, in terms of diagnosing plays, but a player like Joseph is the direction that NFL LB's are taking: smaller, faster, coverage-capable guys. Have him learn under Milano, and I feel like he can be a really productive piece of this D.

Definitely a lot to learn but hopefully he won’t be thrust into a lot of action before he’s ready. He’s got great support/opportunity to become a late round contributor with the aging Alexander in front of him, young talents in Edmunds/Milano and a coaching staff that has experience working with quality linebackers. Rooting for him

I didn’t say any of that.  I said there is no such thing as the myth of WRs breakout in year 3.  It’s statistically lower than years 1 or 2 but people keep stating this false fact that WRs most often break out in year 3 and it’s statistically been proven false multiple times.

They can breakout any year, but it keeps decreasing each year, not “increasing” the likelihood in year 3 like some claim.

I didn't say that you said that...

    Two things.

    1.  There is no such thing as a 3 year leap.  Odds are higher a WR breaks out in year 1 than year 3.  Odds are higher a WR breaks out in year 2 than year 3.  And the odds a WR breaks out sometime in first 2 years overall are more than double that of year 3.  This year 3 myth originated in fantasy football and it’s been disproved many times.

    2.  His “improvements” is grossly over exaggerated and almost all his relevant production came in the two Miami games.  His catch rate was still bad.  Weeks 14, 15, and 16 were all utterly terrible.  People like to look at stat totals and it leads them to false conclusions.

He can can certainly improve this year despite what I just said, but his “big improvement” last year is quite exaggerated.  He was pretty much irrelevant in most games, even dominated by opposing corners in several.  Not to mention, an UDFA out played him.

A player will develop as they develop.  There isn't a designated time of development a player should have.  For some players it takes longer.  Moulds was year 3, Welker was year 3, Edelman was year 5 and the list goes on and on.  Sometimes all it takes is for fans to show a little patience and let the coaching staff work with the young fella.  But ya know, the whole instant gratification thing has hit everyone really hard so...here we are.

I think Bodine may have some value. I'd wait and see how he and Long look in camp. If Long can backup center then you can try and move Bodine.

Backup MLB seems like spot of most need at this point.

Never liked the Murphy signing but they didn't do much to address edge pass rush so I think he gets another year to earn a paycheck and get hurt.

Ziggy probably has seen his chance come and go.

I think I'm ok with the WR group. It was the last of the five needs going into the draft.(TE, OT, DT, DE,WR).

If they are to make any move it would have to be for a pass rushing OLB

If we can trade Marshall Newhouse...

I guess it’s about investment to me.  We paid a bunch for Star. A 3rd round pick isn’t a throw away.  Jordan hasn’t been a lot, thankfully. And now a 9th overall.

From that perspective, I really would hope to see this line dominate and free up our DE’s and LBs

Quality snaps over quantity.  Yes they have invested a lot up front but if they rotate and get quality snaps and quality push, why complain? You know what drives me nuts, watching a player be overused up front and they just lean on the offensive lineman essentially taking the play off.  What good is that to the defense?

Doesn't matter if Ed gets 60% of snaps or 90% as long as he is getting quality snaps along with the rest of them.  That's the point in the rotation right?  So if he can handle 90% of the snaps and they are all quality snaps, then so be it but if he can't...let him rest and bring in another quality guy ready to make a push.

What happens WHEN injuries hit that group?  I'd rather have quality backups than some no name that gets pushed around like we always have year after year.  Relax and enjoy the depth my friend.  Don't overthink it

Looking at his bio on NFL.com, he’s considered too thin and doesn’t have enough strength (both of which can be worked on).  However, he also hasn’t shown the ability to get separation.  He may have been overrated to some because he was catching balls from Will Grier.

They do have a state of the art workout facility and they drafted a few guys that could benefit a lot from it.  Probably using it as a selling point to these young men

There’s a lot of depth in this class, plenty of names left. That’s why the people panicking that we didn’t take one on the first two days need to chill and look at the board.

Even if if we don’t draft one, UDFAs will be available and there’s other ways we can add to the wr core before the season starts.

That is not at all what Beane thinks about when drafting players, he has put an emphasis on drafting the right players for building long term. Not buying it that they drafted a rb because they think Gore and McCoy will get injured... And I was asking in terms of draft value what makes Devin in the 3rd better than a Bryce Love in the 5th, that’s all. And I usually love everything McBeane do, just not sure about this but admittedly don’t know much about Singletary.

I told you the draft value. Singletary can play this year and love cant. I love how fans criticize and are skeptical before knowing anything about a player. Look at a few numbers and complain.
