  1. Yeah I think its total bs the way the game favors offenses now. The QB has a slew of penalty calls there to protect him... WRs can run darn near "pick" routes all day. Defenses have to be really careful on where and how they hit players... I miss watching bone crunching tackles. Cannon balling kamikaze style tackling lol I get player safety is a concern but come on... Stop making all the changes favor the offensive side. WRs used to have some nerves of steel to go across the middle... Not anymore. Run that pick route across the middle and a easy 1st down. Its kind of sad.

  2. Why even bother with a "bridge" QB? Either sign a vet who you think is the long term anwser or draft a QB with the same mind set. Taylor is already here as this supposed "bridge" QB. I see no point wasting time, money, or resources signing a castoff vet from another team to replace our cast off vet.

  3. I agree with the OP. In order to get a shot at the 1st or 2nd pick (which is usually where the best prospects are guesstimated to be picked) you either have to have a horrid year of football or trade away a lot of draft capital to move into one of those spots. Maybe even trade a good player and some picks. All three of those options can be considered suffering in some way, shape, or form.

I think a year of 0-16 is suffering (heck some 9-7 seasons I considered suffering.) I think giving up multiple 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks would suck... Last route trading away say.... McCoy or White and a pick would suck too. Other than those scenarios I dont know of another way to get to the top of the draft. For a QB or not... Whomever it is this can't miss talent may be.

I just hope our scouts and GM do a thorough job regarding the QBs. If they do all thier homework and say hey Rosen or Allen or whoever is going to be a good QB then yeah do what needs to be done to land him. Just be damn sure hes going to make it bc if not well trading away draft capital with all these holes on the roster will suck. They cant guaruntee the pick is going to work out but they can do thier jobs to the best of thier ability and be confident he will pan out.

The team has other needs that have to be adressed for sure. We still have to see how FA goes. I am not of the opinion that they should stay pat if they feel they have scouted a good franchise QB in this class. If they have to trade away picks to get him I think they should do it. At least our future QB is on the roster. Let the other pieces "wait" until next year or the year after. Put those pieces into place later. Build around this guy from the ground up. All just my opinion... I'm aware there is more than one way to skin a cat. I just want to see our team finally have a good QB. It's been too long!

Total Fail. First of all TT is not a free agent. He has a contract with Bills for 2018. No way to apply a franchise tag. Only two options: keep him for 18 mill cap hit. Cut/trade him for 7.64 dead cap.

You can not cut someone and then apply a tag.

For conversation lets say he was a free agent right now and Bills could then apply a tag.

Franchise for QB is what? 24+ million this year?

TT would immediately sign it tying Bills hands for 24+ mill cap hit and salary for TT for 2018. No other team would likely trade for the guy now as his salary is too high. If Bills trade him now before 3rd league day year, he is a 7.64 mill cap hit.

If they trade him after league yr 3rd day Bills have 13.64 cap hit and team taking him in trade have a 10 mill cap hit. He would have more trade value then.

side note of tags: changes are brewing. Cousins will file grievance if Deadskins try to tag him to get assets in a trade. Intention of tag is to keep players and work on long term contract. They have clearly shown with the asinine stupid trade and needless over market contract with Alex Smith they have no interest in giving Cousins a market rate deal to stay and can not feign fake interest like they could have had they not already agreed to A Smith deal. Even if they negotiate, Cousins loses leverage as Deadskins would want a contract that is easily tradable and Cousins wants a market contract.

Arbitrator would not look kindly on Deadskins for doing this. Not sure how he would rule but UFA would be the most likely rule. This would set a precedent and a right one, as that was the intention of the franchise tag rules.

When Bills tagged Byrd they wanted to keep him and tried to sign him. Same with Clements. Peerless Price may have been a feign by the Bills but was plausible.

I think CBA doused that box in starter fluid and set it ablaze... No more box

  5. Slept through the meeting huh? He had to have known he had little to no control over the draft if thats what happened. He was aware his appointment to that position was a show and he acted accordingly. Kind of sad though... I would have thought Levy the type of guy to say well if Im the GM I'm going to do the best job I can. Not go along with a dog and pony show. Sad...

  6. I think what you're asking is... Should the Bills continue probing upgrades at the QB position even if they feel they have thier guy?

Yeah I think they should. If anything having a really good backup is just good all around for multiple reasons. Do I think they continue to use 1st round picks and such? No... If they have a good starting QB chances are high another position needs upgrading more than QB.

...risking a MAJOR meltdown or crash of TBD as well as overcrowding the Peace Bridge with TBD jumpers, what happens if McBeane & his gang go OL/DL/LB or however you want to arrange them with the first 3 picks and look at the mid tier QB market of perhaps Falk, White, Lauletta or Ferguson?....perhaps NOT probable BUT anything is possible I guess.......

Well... In that scenario we would shore up the lines some and the LB group. All of which need some talent. Next tier QB group is meh... I figure thats just like keeping Tyrod. There wouldn't be much optimism regarding the QB for sure.

Personally I would like to see the Bills use this draft capital to make a move for a solid QB. Ive seen previous Bills teams with talent on the d line... Good secondaries... running backs and so on. Every season it seems there are talented groups on the field on either side of the ball and no matter how well those positions or groups perform... We are repeatedly let down by the QB in some way shape or form.

Im hoping maybe they nab a long term QB and we get to see how they do with a solid QB and maybe less talent around the field. I'd prefer to see them field a team with a good QB and a poor DL rather than a good DL and a poor QB.

They have some ammo to move up. If they manage the playoffs again these next few years we probably wont have the capital to move up to grab a QB without really hamstringing future drafts. This is a good year to make that move all things considered.

  8. I hope they do move up to 2 and get the best QB otb... Get our franchise QB and be done with it. Beane and McDermot did a pretty good job last season with the talent they had on hand. Even better than most of us expected. A solid QB from the draft could really push them to the next level.

I think if they can land say Rosen... They'll have plugged a big hole and can sort through the rest later. I honestly think they can afford to give up some draft capital if they are confident the QB they move up for is a long term anwser to the position.

Its been awhile since our Bills have had the ammo in the draft to pull off a move like this. I'm all for it... Take the gamble Beane!

  9. IDK...  I've seen the offense perform well with Taylor at QB.  O has been less than solid this season but I can't say it is all on Taylor. Our WRs kinda suck and the line hasn't been stellar either. Aside from McCoy, Benjamin, and Clay...  Nobody on that side of the ball is a world beater. I'm glad we made the playoffs.  If some way the Bills win a game or two... Taylor isn't going anywhere 18mil price tag or not.

I do hope they get a nice QB in the draft though.
