Here is my thought on this and it would be hard to pull off.  But if looking to 2019.  Trade Mccoy for a 2nd if you can get it, maybe couple 3rds and a 4th.  Then in the off season we will have one of the highest salary caps availble and go after lev bell.  You know he wont resign with the steelers and i honestly dont think they will move him this year.

That would be nice... It briefs well. Get it done McBeane! Anything less will be considered a fail...

  2. Well they pigeon holed themselves into having to start Allen out of neccessity... All we can do now is hope he learns and improves as the games go by. He's been bad but he has some good things going for him too. I'm just hoping the guy can keep learning and progressing and doesn't run into a wall. If he can improve with every game we should be in a good spot next season. He has some nice physical attributes he just has to get the mental stuff down now. Has to keep grinding every week to improve on whatever he can.

  3. Someone had asked me how I knew the defense was going to get better as the season progressed in another thread... You have young guys learning more every game growing more as teammates every game. That's how I knew they would get better. Least that was my honest belief... Glad to see it coming to be. We are going to need that defense to play lights out with how the offense has sputtered along.

  4. So we have a multi faceted problem here...

WRs can't get open quickly so line has to block too long...

QB is raw and can't determine where to throw the ball quick enough so he either a: holds the ball too long or b: rolls out right and takes a 30 yard sack after spinning like a top with no real sense of direction...

Then we have guys that really the talent just doesn't seem to be there.

The OL coach seems to be just as talentless as the guys he's trying to coach up...

Then our only real light at the end of the tunnel is FA which looks bad and the draft which is a crap shoot... Not to mention we have to endure 13 more games of watching it...

This is bad boys... Really bad. Hope our rookie doesn't get crippled or mentally shell shocked before the line improves.

  5. So I watched our QB get obliterated on the regular this Sunday... I also have seen our running game be nearly non existent this season. Then I watch these press conferences and listen as McDermott and Daboll try their best not to throw their offensive line under the bus... They say things like yeah they had a rough game and Josh took sacks and it's partly his fault for holding the ball too long etc etc... I get it noone wants to just Chuck a guy under the bus. However I think they need to address the offensive line failures asap. Like be for real and stop dancing around it because it's an issue.

The way I see it... If the coaches think these lineman have the talent to play at this level that they can be serviceable lineman in the NFL then the obvious culprit for their woes has to be Juan Castillo right? Or if it's the players just not possessing the talent to get it done then they need to try to bring in someone off a practice squad or something right?

My worry is that I've watched LeSean McCoy fade away into nothing as a running back trying to run behind these guys.

I've watched defenses blow straight past our line on numerous occasions this season. I watched Green Bay run a blitz up the same gap numerous times and watch the LB smash Allen Everytime he did it!

So what is the issue? Is it these guys are seriously that bad and just not growing? Or is Castillo just utterly failing them as a coach?

Either way I'm hoping something is done to address that aspect of the team. If that line can't protect that rookie QB throughout this season say Allen gets broken.... Boy o boy what a total and frustrating waste of a season will this be then? What happens if Allen gets injured because he gets sacked how 28th time next week and we have Peterman for x amount of games? How pissed will people be about that situation?

So I'm just wondering what everyone else out there thinks about the state of our offensive line... The sacks, the lack of a run game, the abuse this rookie is taking behind these guys. Is it the players being that bad or is it the coach failing them? Personally I think it's the coach... I think whatever Castillo is coaching these guys up to do simply isn't working. I see them bumbling and stumbling, getting pushed into their QB/RB, I see defenders just flying through gaps umabated. It's horrible.

What's the solution? Can it be fixed or patched up sometime this season if at least for the hopes of keeping Allen healthy for this entire "learning" season. Does anyone know if Castillo is historically bad? Has Shady just lost it as a RB or is it really the line to blame? Is it really just Josh Allen not reading what the defense is going to give him fast enough and holding the ball making them look so bad?

Anyways just wondering how the rest of the fanbase feels about the situation and how if any way it can be remedied at this point.

This was what I had replied in the Monday press thread... It's my original rant

What I'm seeing is a HC try his damndest not to throw his o line under the bus... They are bad. Point blank period. So it's kind of comical to listen to him try to answer these questions in a way where he's trying spread the blame around a bit. I mean yeah I'm sure Allen being a rookie has something to do with the sacks and hitsbhes taken so far... but we can't keep trying to dance around the fact that this line is playing very poorly and inconsistent... Or maybe they're consistently bad idk.

So if we do like McDermott says and start in the trenches and winning the line of scrimmage then who does that fall on the o line players and Juan Castillo. So if the coach believes his players are talented enough to at least be a serviceable offensive line then I think obviously the problem can be traced back to the coach. So fire the guy and get someone else... Either find a couple decent lineman in some dumpster out there if he believes it's the lack of player talent OR fire the fricken line coach and get a guy that can get these players to play up to the talent level he believes they possess....

We can't run the ball and the QB is under constant pressure. Something needs to be done sooner than later about the line. Keep messing around trotting either the same players or the line coach out there for the rest of this season and eventually that shiny new QB the GM worked so hard to acquire is going to get broken. You're also wasting the talent of 2 very good RBs in what may be their twilight years of football. Wasting what they could provide behind bad lineman or a bad line coach. Can this be traced to Castillo? This incompetent play is either his failure as a coach or these guys are really just bad players who don't belong as starters on an NFL roster. Personally I think it's more about the way they are being coached...

Hope you're right...that pick play pissed me off.....how did they miss that?

Eck... Green Bay had a few calls/no calls go their way this game. The helmet to helmet on that sack... KB took one straight to the face on that int where he was labeled. Idk if that comes into effect there though but boy he took a shot to the head. The pick crap they pulled that a couple times. Hughes getting flagrantly held and watching him flail his arms waiting for the flag and never getting one was another horrible officiating job. We got away with Edmunds sack on Rogers... Idk it was a bad game by the officiating crew for sure though. Not that it would've changed the outcome but I was surprised of how poorly this one was called.

  8. You guys all knew this kid was raw... He had a bad game trying to read a Mike Pettine defense. Pettines is known for having some exotic advanced disguises built into his scheme. He is on his 3rd start and had to try to dissect a advanced defense. Yeah it was a bad game... He didn't look rattled he looked bewildered. He needs to learn how to take what he's given. He needs to learn to get the ball out much faster. He needs to learn to stay in the pocket and stop rolling right. So on and so forth...

The kids has to learn... It's going to take time. Let it play out. After 16 games maybe a few into next year when maybe he has a better line and WR options then if he has a game like yesterday then yeah he's probably a bust. Game 3 against Pettines defense in Green Bay? That's asking a lot of a guy who came into the NFL labeled a raw talent from the jump. It's going to take time for him to learn to read different defenses and learn all the ways different d coordinators disguise blitzes and coverage. Yesterday he simply wasn't read for that. He has to learn... A lot.

I can say it was rediclous the number of times they sent a blitz straight through the middle of our line. Off the top of my head it happened like 6 times... Same LB Everytime straight through the gap. How that wasn't adjusted to is beyond me.

The WRs did get open a few times fast. I saw it from home. He missed some quick shots he's gotta learn to read and react quicker. Im sure when someone goes through that all 22 they'll see those guys getting open even if just for a split second a few times that game. I saw it from home and yelled at my tv plenty about the missed opportunities... But hey he has to learn. He'll see it on the cut ups himself and hopefully he learns from it.

The run game... What the hell happened to our run game? They just abandoned it completely. And yeah Green Bay got up early but they had a solid half of ball to try to get the run game going some. They could've made up the point deficit without abandoning the run game wholesale. That's on Daboll... You have LeSean McCoy and Ivory there waiting to be used. Use them. They are more reliable than your rookie QB at this point in his career. The way Daboll called this offense this tilt really worries me. We can't abandon the run like that... We have no WR talent a rookie QB and a future happy of Fame RB. Use the damn future Hall of famer...

It was a ugly game all around. I will say our defense wasn't bad. Not stellar but they tried to keep us in it. The offense did them no favors yesterday. Oh and that punter..  that guys money. My new favorite Bill.

  9. That's nice to see... We added Murphy and Star so they were trying to work on our pressure seems like it's starting to come together finally! They're going to abuse Rogers this week... Green Bay ought to just rest him and save him because my money is on our line injuring his leg further. Not that I want him hurt but eh he's gonna get banged up Sunday.

...think we can use the run offense from last week (minimize Shady if or when necessary) against a Pettine led run "D".......Daboll needs to do his stuff with screens, etc to defy the box and let Josh do a little "Air Coryell" against their secondary..............

Yeah keep it quick and effective. Once they get the run working try taking a shot or two against those safeties. Hopefully Foster actually catches the ball this game. Thatd be just great.

Who is going to cover Geronimo?

Which lb'er/safety can stick with Jimmy Graham.

Will we see Bills defense from the first 6 quarters of the season or the last 6 quarters?

Does Daboll have some new wrinkles to get the ball out of Josh's hands quick and in rhythm?

Can any receiver on the Bills actually make a big play?

I forgot about Jimmy Graham... He hasn't done much so far this season hopefully he doesn't decide to have a coming out party on us haha. Him and Geronimo are the two weapons that concern me most in this one...

Pettine is blitz happy they need to get the ball out quick and make them pay for it. We really need a solid game from Shady/Ivory this week. Allen won't have time in the pocket to throw anything past 5 yards if the line can't hold up against Pettines blitzkrieg style defense.

  12. So we have another tilt with what many would say are one of the better teams in the NFL. I think... we can go to Green Bay and get a win.

First off the Packers have a weak o line on the right side. Our Bills have a solid D line and I'm hoping that we put Jerry Hughes over there with Kyle Williams to work that side of their o line. If Star and Kyle can keep pushing the middle of the line and our ends can continue to fly around the edges I like our chances vs a hobbled Aaron Rodgers. Also if we can send a LB to that side a bit (right side) I think that they won't be able to protect Rogers... If our pass rush keeps up if the line continues to play at the level they did last Sunday I think we have bigger advantage than many think.

Their running game isn't of much concern to me. I like our run d and think it's more than capable of keeping their running game in check. Which means we can probably make their offense one dimensional...

Green Bay has some solid WRs.  With their line being a weak link and a hobbled Rogers if our pass rush hits home then our secondary can cover these guys. We have Tre follow Adams wherever he lines up. Thats their best WR and luckily our best DB is talented enough to shut him down. That's a plus for our D.

Then Cobb may be injured so we may not even need to deal with him which would be great. However if Cobb does play dinged up I still think we have the advantage. He's Rogers safety outlet so if he's not 100% that's good for us.

Geronimo Allison is the only one Im really concerned with. He's becoming a reliable target so he is the one I think their offense has to work through. Im not sure who is getting the start this weak but whoever draws Allison has to bring their A game as he seems to be the only glaring advantage I see Green Bay having due to our lack of DB depth.

I think that Green Bay is going to try to get the ball out quick due to Rogers injury and their dinged up line. So if our secondary can not allow them to dink and dunk their way down the field I like our chances shutting them down. Our defenses success hinges on the line getting pressure to Rogers quickly and consistently.

Our safeties shouldn't be challenged deep too much if the line can keep the pressure on Rogers. I simply don't think that the Packers will have the time to take deep shots. They aren't going to let Rogers get pounded on with a mucked up leg. So I see their offense trying to lean on the run and quick passes to attempt to keep Rogers clean and avoid further injury. If they do try to challenge our defense deep we have a solid safety tandem. I'm not overly concerned about them making chunk yardage plays regularly during this game. It may happen once or twice but honestly I think our D has the advantage in this one...

Aaron Rogers obviously the best QB playing the game ATM... He can make every throw he can read a defense and he has good weapons. My honest belief is that if our defensive line can keep pressure on him he's not going to be as dangerous scrambling. He's not going to have the time to sit in the pocket and send bombs downfield. So that's another plus for us. The guy has a bionic leg and that's going to hinder him to an extent if he does scramble. Our LBs are fast and so are our DEs so I like our chances against a banged up Rogers trying to extend plays on a bad leg.

Our offense needs to have a good game for us to get this W. Imo this is where Green Bay has an advantageous position. Allen is going to have a tough game going against a Pettine coached defense. He knows how to confuse a rookie QB and get after him. This game is really going to be on Allen's shoulders. I think Daboll has to keep it simple and fast for Allen again this week. I don't see Allen having much time in the pocket clean because Pettine is known for getting blitz happy.

The line needs to keep Matthews out of the backfield and get some push for the run game. If we can find some success in the run game I think that'll open up some shots on their secondary. That's their only glaring weakness on defense is their safety play. So hopefully we can establish the run and allow Allen to take some shots against their safeties. Hopefully Shady can finally have a solid game. This is the week we really need him to get going. I just don't see Allen having the luxury of beating this Packers defense with his arm with Pettine coaching their defense.

If they can't get the run game going and they can't get quick passes out then that's going to be a wrap imo. No matter how well our defense plays we need the offense to put in work this week.

Anyways I keep seeing all these articles talking about how our Bills have no chance going into this game and imo that's simply not the case. I think we have some advantages going into this game. I really don't see this being a easy W for Green Bay. I see a Bill defense that may have finally found themselves going up against a wounded Packers offense and I think that's being overlooked. I think our defense is going to have a good game against these guys and it's all going to come down to our offense putting points on the board. If our offense can do their part we can win this game. If they can protect the ball and get our run game going.... pick on the Packers safeties some with that howitzer. We have a decent chance of pulling a win out here. This game isn't going to be a blowout it's going to be a good one. I think they showed theyre capable of beating any team any given Sunday last week.
