Or it may be pick #22 again.
Exactly. You don't truly know what you're giving up.

I'm not a big fan of giving up the 2019 first round pick. There is some uncertainty surrounding this year's team and you never know what that pick will become. Look at the Houston Texans. They were 3-3 after 6 games, thinking playoffs, then Watson gets hurt and they finish the season 1-9. The pick they traded to move up to get Watson goes from looking like a mid to late rounder to #4.
I'm not saying that moving up to pick Watson won't ultimately be a fantastic move for the Texans; I'm just saying a year is a long time in the NFL.

It doesn't and that's why they would be less likely to say no to the team that drafted them now.
Agreed.

I remember a guy named Jim Kelly doing that. He had somewhere else he could go and get paid though.
Actually got paid more than he would have likely made in the NFL. I don't know where that option exists anymore.

This guy is really hard to root for. I would not be excited if I were a Brown's fan.

But seriously, even though he is a total moron, I will root for any local guy. He will get a shot to compete for a job but it’s a lot more likely he will cut during camp. He just doesn’t have the brains to be a nfl qb.
He should try out for Big Brother. He'd be awesome on that show!

They got rid of the blackout now they need to let them play on Friday night.

Not necessarily. There are a number of ways to get to #7 without including #22. Heck, 12 and 53 gets us there on the value chart alone. Not saying Tampa Bay wouldn't want more, but we are above 1500 with just 12 and 53. Throw in #65 and we are well above the value chart price. And we'd STILL have picks in rounds 3 through 6 in a deep draft. And that's without dangling anything in the '19 draft. The scenario very much exists.
To be clear:
I think your scenario existed until the Jets lit the draft pick value chart on fire.

Does it really change anything? So we trade up and take Rosen, Darnold or Allen, does that detail really matter?
We trade up and take a QB at 7, Rudolph and Jackson is there at 22, do we intentionally trade out with a QB needy team to screw NE?
No we don't.

The Bills move up to 7 and still have the #22 pick?
Exactly. This scenario does not exist.

I think their record will be a step backwards (7-9) but I could live with that if they eliminate the non-competo games like they had this year (Saints, Chargers, Patriots (2 x's)).

This is the next logical thread:
Hypothetical: Browns don't take a quarterback with 1 or 4.

If this guy was from anywhere other than Carolina I might agree with ESPN. Which one of the talking heads at ESPN knows this guy better that Beane and McDermott?
-
I think probably 7-9. I wish they could flip-flop their home and away cross over games with the NFC North. They've got Minnesota and Green Bay on the road and Chicago and Detroit at home.

1. AFC was weak this year.
2. Bills took care of the games they should have won for the most part.
This is true. From 2000-2016 only six teams made the playoffs in the AFC as a wildcard with 9 or fewer wins (some teams won their division with 9 or fewer wins however).

What is the sports world coming to when we’re talking about idiot kickers?
Exactly. If we're talking about a punter on a Monday morning during the season it can't be anything good.

I remember they used to talk about the "Elway cross". That was the mark left on the receivers by the tip of the ball.

So you're saying he wasn't very good this year? That's a hot take.
-
I don't think he's the type of player McDermott wants here. In addition it seems based on what he's said that Beane wants to have a balanced roster with regards to salary cap implications. OBJ wants to be the highest paid receiver in the NFL and he might get it ... but not in Buffalo.

Besides kneeling 2 seasons ago and suing the NFL this guy has been virtually invisible. I thought maybe last year he would take some time to promote his cause. Literally the only thing I read about him was his girlfriend called Ray Lewis an "Uncle Tom" for posing in a picture with the Ravens owner when Lewis insisted they were getting ready to make him an offer.
