    Whaddya got?

    Here's my guess:

Twofold problem right now 1) He hasn't started trusting his OLine yet after last year's debacle and it's affecting is ability to process and see the field and 2) He loves to challenge himself to make amazing plays, because it's fun

It doesn't make him stupid, selfish or scared because he's none of those things, but it does make him a turnover prone QB and he knows that has to change. So he decides to make the change.

Eventually I think he will do so successfully but these next few weeks are going to be hard. Every time he drops back he's going to have his own voice in his head telling him "No, don't bail yet", "No, don't try that throw",  "No, don't take that guy on for an extra yard" and that is going to be very distracting and make it very hard for him to find the Zone. During this time he'll likely do a better job of protecting the ball, but it's probably going to come at the price of making him a less efficient QB.

If he sticks with it and stays patient, eventually that voice will go away, he'll get out of his own head and the decision-making process will become more organic and less forced. At that point he'll start being able to get back in the Zone and then we'll see him spreading the ball around and cutting people up the way we know he can. When this happens, woe to anybody who thinks they can still run man schemes against the Bills offense.

Stay focused and patient young buck, you'll find that place again....

Starting to believe that a 17 game season see's ebb's and flows, last year everything clicked early on, maybe this year we can tread water and really ramp up at the right time.

And yes i believe there is a lot of scar tissue from our ending last season, just gotta keep chopping wood, improve week to week and see where it goes.

I posted this in another thread and I think it makes perfect sense.  According to Brown, this is repeatedly told to Allen by McDermott/Dorsey.

I think Chris Brown on WGR just said it perfectly.

He said he had a conversation with a long time veteran Coach.  This coach said "the difference between the NFL and college football is College Football is about touchdowns, NFL is about first downs."  When you get to the redzone, then you worry about TD's.  This is the efficiency model that rode Brady to 7 rings and what Mahomes did last year.

The NFL is largely a field position game, which as we saw last night is the truth witness overtime 3 and out deep in your own end crappy punt and game over.

It’s why I’d prefer an experienced offensive coach… Dorsey doesn’t really come off as a coach who can talk Josh off the ledge.

You may be right, but it's year 6 Josh shouldn't need this guidance. I like some of Ken's concepts on offense so not quite ready to throw him aside just yet, i think Sean needs to be the one to get in his ear. Maybe McDermott isn't the right head coach as well hard to imagine this happening over and over with someone like Sean Payton

He was skittish all game I thought….really didn’t look like the elite Josh we’ve seen at all.

He looked to me like he was on some kind of sugar high and he just couldn't settle down. I got no idea if this will be a trend or he can reel it back in and fly right going forward. no good to have the most impressive stallion in the pasture if it keeps busting through the fence time after time.

could have caught 10 balls easy. Those tight ends were there in the flat for easy 7-yard gains.

I believe this as well, got nothing to back this up but i think Josh needs to take more control and put Diggs in his place, too much forcing it to him

I said the Digges effect. Was Diggs open on any of those throws past 20 yards? UH no...

It is in JA head that he has to throw to Diggs all the time. That is an issue.

Dorsey play calling is a joke

and by the way.. how many times did we have to run the ball right in the teeth of the lion down the Gut... Do you not know that the middle of that D line is good?

    McD reverting to 2 zone..

    Pukes..

This, would need to see film but it seems too forced to Diggs

That's who I compared him to on draft day

Maybe they can still coach him into a well-rounded CB, but this is frustrating.

Still, is he really so bad that he's inactive? If a CB goes down with injury, it'd be nice to have Elam as depth.

Don't be frustrated I really really think we got something in Benford season has started either Elam comes o

n our he doesn't season doesn't hang on him period full stop

Ha it still stings that they drafted a guy who clearly wasn't a natural scheme fit for their scheme after trading up in round 1 and now won't put him on the field because he isn't a natural scheme fit for their scheme.....

They thought wrongly they could coach him up, draft busts are littered with this same flaw, just not the head for it

I think this is a solid point.  This is more of a reflection on how good Benford and Jackson have been versus how "bad" Elam has been.  Cam Lewis can also play outside corner in a pinch.  The Bills have a lot of depth in their secondary.  It's a tough roster to crack.

I think he's just not picking it up mentally.  Yes he's more athletic and physically talented, he must look that bad in practice.

We at least allowed Cody Ford to suck on the field before benching him.  We're not even putting Elam on the field...fans don't see everything in a players development.
