Anyone who states "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" instantly loses any credibility.  That is not the definition of insanity, it is a quote that gets erroneously credited to Einstein.  Do people that say this honestly believe that is the definition of insanity?!

    * Sorry to go off topic, but that is huge pet peeve of mine.

** &%@? the eagles and their uninformed fans!

You put the ass in assumption ;)

If the Bills win the superbowl i will be there downtown to celebrate.   I will spend freak money on SB champ merchandise.   I will be unbearable to my Steeler friend fans down here in PA.    Im just old enough to know franchise QBs dont come around too often.  Kelly was drafted in 1983, Josh 35 years later in 2018. The time to win it is now.   My lying eyes tell me Josh and the offense can get it done, the problem, consistently in the playoffs falls on the D.  McD was a D coordinator, to me he's the problem.   Josh's playoff stats are awesome.    The D, in the playoffs comes up small, repeatedly.

The D talent and playoff play is a big issue. And they recognized that and pushed to change it this year. But the 13 seconds problem was McD letting Frazier call the play and not overruling him. I think by playoff time this year, the D will be what is needed to get past KC, Ravens, etc. We better have a way to stop the Eagles though.

McDermott is not a top 10 HC. He is lucky the Bills drafted Josh Allen…. We would already have a couple of Super Bowls by now if we had a top 10 HC.

If Reid had Allen in place of Mahomes in KC, then they probably win some SB's. I doubt any of those coaches come to Buffalo today and win a SB. I doubt Allen is an elite QB if not brought into the organization that McD and Beane put in place.

Well keep puffing your chest out on the Jets/Dolphins/post dynasty Pats AFC east championships.

Your one of those guys that won't give credit if we win the SB.

I want a SB win before I die as much as anyone. But logic says, replacing McD now, doesn't get us one.

Marty Shottenheimer got 2 gigs after Cleveland, still never got to the SB.   Good coach, not a great coach.   Pointing out McD would get another job after Buffalo changes nothing in my mind that he cant get us to the promised land.

You are so sure he can't. But it's just that he hasn't yet. How long did it take Reid?

Last year's offensive scheme was about making Allen's play more boring, no? I don't mean that in a bad way. Raising the floor was an admirable goal and the results spoke for themselves. I think Justin Herbert's problem is Justin Herbert. He is missing that spark of pure will that defines the top 4 QBs. That mentality in critical moments that he will make it happen all on his own if he has to. I don't think Harbaugh took that spark out of him, he just never had it to begin with. What Harbaugh did last year is make the best out of a horrid group of skill players and a QB that isn't uniquely talented enough to overcome it.

It's hard to make Allens play look boring.

But McD does preach play smart, some say boring, football. And he doesn't like risks, like the tush push. But he will let his QB and OC determine if and when to use it. And to make the necessary calls. If the D improvements work out, I expect more risk on the D side, during must win situations.

They should have gotten rid of him for Jim Harbaugh two years ago.  He's Dungy 2.0 with the best QB in franchise history history who can't win the big game. Ironically if Allens wins one SuperBowl, then McDermott probably makes the HOF. If Bills don't make the SuperBowl this year, he hopefully is fired.

All we can hope for is a SuperBowl win or an embarrassing playoff loss to move on. We are stuck in purgatory right now. The games are fun to watch, but failing to win a championship with the best QB in the NFL is inexcusable. I know this has been argued ad nauseum but many of us only care about a SuperBowl Championship now. Playoff appearances just aren't good enough.

People said the same thing about Reeves with Elway and Schottenhemier with his various superstar players and playoff failures. Reeves at least made it to the SuperBowl.  They even said the same thing about Shula with Marino.

All that said, let's just play the games and see what happens in January.

Regardless of SB wins McD is currently a top 10 coach. A SB appearance gets him in the top 5. A SB win puts him in the hall of fame.

Bills fans will never be fully happy without the SB win. Me included. But we all know, that if we win the SB this year, at the moment McD and Allen are hosting up the Lombardi; the negative Nancys on here will say the need to win again next year or it means nothing!

But history tells us that no coach /qb combo this long together will win a Super Bowl. So we’re waiting for improbability in my view. That’s why I was for moving on from him after :13 seconds

But Allen has already done what no big arm "project" QB has done. But it took a few years to get Allen to this state.

If we had Mahomes starting after his red shirt year, then McD/Bills might have a SB or 2.

Fact is McD is here and not getting let go, barring a mental breakdown. This is the year where O and D should both be good. Nothing about getting to let alone winning the SB, is easy.

  9. I think it's simple. If the culture shift didn't happen, Allen doesn't have the room to grow into who he is. If he went to a team in full dysfunction, the expectations would not likely allow him to take the time to grow into a super star.

For that McD gets credit. He makes the overall decisions, the coaching hires, the general flow. He knows the O is not his strong area, so he leaves his generals in charge of their platoons. He doesn't have that Reid/Mahomes relationship, but he has the calming presence to say, Allen - go be the best you!

Now he has some issues coaching, game day decisions mostly. But he has learned there over the years. I believe barring major injury; this is the year that the steady approach wins it all. We need the horses on D in the playoffs. Which means some great play by rookies and FA's.

There’s about 100,00,000 that would disagree with you.  My wife even thinks he’s hot.  I told her whatever floats your boat.  She doesn’t even like football as she’s chinese, but loves watching my Bills games as she loves Josh.

I'm sure his haircuts don't matter to his female admirers. But clean cut and shaved Josh looks like his young rookie look. The styled hair and scruff give him the more mature manly look. I bet if you poled the people that romantically fancy him, the current more "playboy" look is sexier. I'm straight but can acknowledge a handsome man.

Reeses cups changed, too. My wife and I noticed it. We don't know if they're better though.

They are NOT the same, I taste mostly molasses now. Now Lidl's mini pb cups are the bomb. They don't always have them, but they taste like the ole timey ones before everyone ditched trans fats!

to be fair to @Gugny, there was something that rubbed me the wrong way about Josh being buddy-buddy with Pat Mahomes in that one offseason golfing and doing TV stuff when Mahomes at that point had multiple MVPs and SB's and we had made one AFCCG appearance.

Peyton and Brady didn't get chummy until long after they both had multiple trophies in their cases and it did make me wonder about his competitive drive and habits.

However, after Josh's MVP and imo the best season of his career with a weaker supporting cast, I feel like complaining about his work ethic is a little over the top.

Peyton didn't hang out with Brady because Brady is a dick. Who cares if they go golfing together. It may have happened back in the day, and no one reported it on it, because its dumb. Shouldn't matter what they do in their free time, as long as, they come to work when it matters.
